Hi all, been a long time since I posted on these forums but I figured I'd come back to share some recent experiences I had. I know a lot of people think that the XVS 125 isn't really capable of much more than 55-60mph. There were some slightly restricted imports due to laws in their country of origin, but most of them out there are just unrestricted 125s. Some have a lot of "optional extras" that add a fair bit of weight. And that's fair enough. I used to agree to an extent. I own a bobbed dragstar, which has had a lot of excess weight removed and drilled out baffles. I was getting 55 up steep hills, and cruising around at 60-70 no problem on dual carriageways. I …

Hi Guys new to the forums and really looking some advice. I just passed my bike test on the 28th December and have bought my first bike (dragstar 650). Its still with the dealer getting the restriction kit fitted due to the UK laws, but I am due to pick it up on Saturday and typically luck we have some terrible weather moving in. I live in the Northern Ireland so not getting the heavy snow the rest of the UK is being hit with but we are due for some very cold weather and sleet/light snow. I have no other way to get this bike home but drive it but I'm feeling very nervous about it and wondering if there are any experience drivers who could give me some tips for …

Alright folks The longrunning saga of trying to get my son a decent bike is leading either a virago or dragstar. The question being:- Has anyone here (UK) bought a Dragstar on a restricted licence and got insurance for said bike. If so what are the general costs

Well even though I am still training for my bike test I couldn't resist buying a bike. I was undecided on the choice of a Virago or a Dragstar so after help from some of the members of the forum I tried out both for fit. I couldn't ride them of course yet but had a sit on them and a fiddle around. My mind was made up with the Virago due to the foot pegs being better placed for me. So I did some searching and am now the proud owner of a 1992 Virago 750 with 16000 on the clock and well looked after. I paid £1850 for it and it is complete with panniers, screen, sissy bar, and even a cruise control! Best of all is i don't even have to travel far as it is about 5 miles away. …

Hi, I thought I would post some pics of my first bike, its just a humble SR125 on a 51 plate, but I love it. heres the bracket im making to fit a rack and topbox off the wifes old MBK NITRO. Here it is with the topbox fitted I then changed the big black square front indicators for chrome round ones. Ive got the back ones still to do. I just plan to clean it up and enjoy riding it.

I have bought front and rear sprockets with the chain, Genuine Japanese make. front 13 teeth, rear 46 teeth ( remember like it has to be 47) and 520 chain. Just wanna know what would be the upper slack in the chain...should there be an upper slack? I know what happens with upper slack is that u start in neutral and right after u switch to the 1st gear...there is some powerful forward rotation of the front sprocket till slack straightens..if you get what I mean. This applies an unnecessary force on front sprocket teeth, front sprocket shaft, chain and the rear sprocket..in my other bike the front sprocket shaft was greatly worn so I had to get it the worn refilled wit…

Hi all, I've posted a few times on this forum with various issues and questions! Currently I've got an SR 125 1997, Thundercat and Vespa ET4. I sold my Mobylette AV89 a few months back and am now looking to sell my SR125 as its now not insured. So, in summary I can go very fast or look very city-boyish on the Vespa. (I can't go for a relaxed cruise though....) I was on ebay looking at the values of SR125's for when I put it up for sale and happened to trip on a few XV535's for sale. My SR125 is seemingly worth £300-600 (coincidentally, the same as I paid for it 4 years ago.. Weird), and there's a few XV535's on the net for the £800-1400 bracket. I've seen an america…

Hello again. I'm coming up for renewing my rear tyre and am going to go with the Avon I think. But I've noticed the holes for the spokes on the hub are elongated and as making the loose spoke sound. Obviously I'm concerned about this and am planning a change. Has anyone tried to fit an XVS 1100 rear wheel to a 650 (uprating the brakes to disk ultimately)? Will it fit? Concerns are drive shaft alignment and offset, mounting the calliper I'm not overly worried about right now. Plan to use the 650 drive shaft and final drive if possible but may consider an upgrade there too if it's necessary. All opinions appreciated. Auzz

After years of never failing to start, my 400 has stopped working, I may have forgotten to feed the hamster again but I suspect this time it's the side stand switch. The little 'T' shaped part isn't making contact with the side stand. Can any one tell me if it is supposed to be pushed in when the stand is up or completely out. I am guessing they are the same on both the 400/650 model as it uses the same frame etc. Thanks
