Anyone have a stainless break hose fitted to their bike? Do they actually improve breaking? I'm thinking of getting this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-XVS650-DRAG-STAR-97-03-Goodridge-Stainless-Front-Brake-Line-Race-Kit-/400364533890?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5d3795f882 Any thoughts?

hi, new to this forum so thought i would introduce myself. I am just about to order a new yamaha bolt, so i dont currently have a bike, i'm in the Reading area so once i have the bike it would be good to maybe meet a few people who are local, as none of my friends ride so i'm a bit of a lone warrior at the moment. Hi guys.... Just to wrap up, my xv125 engine ceased as the oil pump wheel was worn out and the oil wasnt circulating inside...Then I replaced piston rods, piston rings and wheels with genuine Yamaha parts. Replaced manifold joint and it was not fitting well. So placed some spacers with gasket material cut accordingly between engine head and manifold joint. Bike started well after this but after sometime started to just crank like fuel starvation. I bought another fitting manifold joint and replaced non-fitting with it. Tried to start...Bike would start for sometime at first crank, however, it would not start later... I thought my carb had issues, cleaned…

  8. Started by Underdog,

So in the absence of an actual bike I've been looking at photos of lots of bikes, standard and modified. My two real dislikes on standard dragstars are the rear mudguard and the exhausts. So 2 questions, what can I do with problem number 1? I do love the look of the small and low bobber rear guards but would mean cutting the supporting cage to achieve it. Is there a compromised way of getting it to follow the shape of the rear wheel better and making it look closer without chopping the cage off . Then, the pipes, I just dislike how long they are, what's the easiest and cost effective way of shortening them, power or noise gains are not important. Thanks for reading

Hi guys I've just got hold of some "used" panniers for my XVS650A Dragstar Classic. Bargain at around £80 and don't look like they've ever been used. I've got pannier supports fitted to the bike from the previous panniers, but they were throw-over and these are not. Looks like they require mounting directly to the bike, possibly using a specific plate or rail mount. I can't find anything using Google, so thought I'd ask you guys before fabricating something myself. Anyone know what sort of hardware is required for these? (I've not posted this in "wanted" as I'm not wanting any-one's kit, just advice over what people have and where to get it from) …

Hi All, I have the original dealers number plate on my bike, its like a bloody great billboard and I think it spoils the look at the back, any suggestions of what toreplace it with. I used to use the postage stamp types many years ago but I could not go out without being pulled so looking for something at least almost leagal.

Hi there, I've been on the forum before, but I just recently purchased a 2008 XVS 1300A Midnight Star on Tuesday the 24/03/09, it's the most amount of money I have ever spent on anything but I'm loving every minute of being on the bike. LoL when I first went to pick up the bike I was crapping myself with the size of the bike and wondering how the hell I would be able to ride it, but I was so suprised at how easy it is to manouver and ride. I went from a XVS 125 to this, I know it's a big jump and probably not recommended but i thought If i get a 650 and then get bored with that a few months down the line then I'm just paying out more money. I will be using…

  16. Started by Toutsuite,

Had a very enjoyable ride this evening, having fitted new clutch friction plates and springs (both EBC aftermarket). Was a hell of a job doing it myself (the really difficult part was removing the front exhaust - took me about 3 hours using those special fluted sockets that bite into rusted nuts and bolts); and I installed the pressure plate incorrectly so had to go in again this morning but all is well now! A few points: at 41K miles a worn clutch is to be expected, depending on how previous owners rode. The old friction plates were worn almost down to the metal. The metal clutch plates between the friction plates seemed ok. Checked them for thickness and t…

Hi everyone, just got a 1997 650 custom that I'm going to "bobberise" if that's a word. I'm sure to have lots of stupid questions as I go along but in the meantime I have a rear rack, backrest, saddlebag supports, saddlebags, front lightbar with lights, Puig screen and engine bars if anyone is interested please pm me before I put them on Fleabay. I also have fron floorboards that I'm willing to swap plus a bit of cash my way for some pegs instead.

I really like the look of vintge number plates that have silver lettering and a black back ground, i'm pretty sure that you can't have that style of plate on a recent registration. I'm wondering if i was to buy a private plate that is old, like the old 6 digit plates, can i have that made up in silver and black? also i have heard that if you have a 6 digit plate, you can legaly have it made smaller. Thanks

Ok guys, another silly question but as the drag star has only a side stand, what do you use to stand it on when working on it, ie removing rear wheel and the likes. I even find that cleaning the chrome on the left side is a pain when its on its side stand. I was thinking beer crate,
