Hi all - just got a NOS seat cover for a 1974 DT 175. Does anyone have any advice of replacing the seat cover itself and securing with the metal tabs I have taken the old one off and the foam is still in excellent condition. I have wire brushed a bit of surface rust and will treat and repaint and I think I will look for some more of teh thin plastic piping that slips over the metal frame to protect the sean fabric. cheers Sean

Recently took off the top end from my bike, had a look into the exhaust header and found a subtle restriction lurking in there. Cant understand why Yamaha would have done this unless it was for a foreign market for some reason. This flies in the face of any good tuning practice as it will give rotten gas flow characteristics. ....Now...wheres my hole saws? Any how heres some pics

so, the other day i removed my speedometer in order to put a fpam gasket under the thing to keep it from vibrating as much while driving. i had also noticed that the face scfrews were slightly loose and decided i would make a job of tightning them. when i took ogg the speedo and turned it over, a bunch of road grime and oil or water got inbetween the two glass pieces that make up the window face. now i cant figure out how to remove the glass and clean it and also to tighten the face. does anybody know how its done?

Hi guys, I have the opportunity to buy a 1971 XS2, its a US import, needs restoring and not registered but fairly complete but needs a seat and a footrest. Where can I get parts from if I wasw to buy it, been looking quickly on google but not much joy at the moment. It has a spare tank and spare engine also but otherwise I dont know much else, just had a brief phone call with the owner. Any help with what to look for would be much appreciated as Im going to look at it tomorrow at 11. Do I bite his hand off or am I going to end up with a bike I cant get parts for? Thanks Doug.

Hey everyone what ups im new to the forums and im looking for a little help About the bike I picked up a 79 xs400 from someone off craigslist for 300$ because it wasn't running. The guy that had it before me bought it running brought it home and it died on him and sat in the garage for six months. I replaced the voltage rectifier on it, cleaned the carbs out really good and now she starts up usually second or third kick. The guy before me had modded the exhaust and the bike was backfiring so i enriched the fuel because it was running lean in the right cylinder and now she runs nice and clean. The only problem is she wont idle, it will hang around 2000 when i get to a…

Good day All, My question is: how interchangeable are parts from a DT400A (1975) with later year DT400's? I need a new magneto and flywheel but eBay seems to be offering mostly parts from 1977 and 1978. Can I use later model magneto and flywheels on my '75? Cheers, The Menno

Installing new turn signals today, and found that the previous owner had done away with the flasher relay. Soooooo, shopping around, I see that the relay plugs into something. What would this something be? And where would it be located. Whatever it plugs into is missing as well... Thanks

hi, I have a YB100, an FS1, 2 SR125's (one is 1996, the other is 1999) and also a 1981 SR250. But I am really wanting an old YA-1, which is from 1954, I think. Anyone seen one for sale, anywhere? Heck, I'd consider importing it! Thanks, Debb

I was curious... I was gonna test my fuel/air mixture with a colortune, but I was curious... in many online sources, they say this is always done via the idle mixture screw (sometimes known as pilot screw i think), and you need a small flat head screwdriver to get at it... had a few questions... 1. On an 1978 XS400, this is simply the thing underneith the seat area that i can adjust with just my finger (don't need a screw?), right? Ive used this to mess with idle settings before so I assume it is. 2. Assuming direction-wise that I'm sitting on my bike + looking down 'into' the seat... turning it clockwise leans it + counter-clockwise enrich's the fuel/air mixtur…

So I've got a 1978 XS400 that I rode last summer, my first bike. I've now got a newer, bigger Honda that I will be riding. Anyway, so I was trying to decide what to do with the XS. I can't see me getting very much money for it, as it isn't in amazing condition. Plus, everyone I talk to regrets selling their first bike... Anyway, here's the bike's story. I put 15,000km on it last summer, and I think that sort of did the engine in. It burns quite a bit of oil, the head gasket is shot, some minor transmission troubles, etc. The engine has just under 50,000km on it. Savable? What do you guys think? With new rings, gaskets, etc.? I'm really really considering cafe-i…
