*flasher cAncel sorry... Finally tracked down all the missing parts for the wiring harness - all but the turn signal cancel. Is this part necessary for blinker operation? Obviously I would have to cancel the signals manually, but would everything run if this was left out of the system. Would I have to bridge it's connecting wires?

I picked up an old enduro bike today from some family friends. Actually it is the bike I learned to ride on as a kid. The problem is the bike needs some work and a gas tank. I am trying to figure out what model number it is to find parts/manuals/general bike information. On the frame i can barely make out the VIN# IT9-080377. I can't find anything online regarding this, anyone have any info as to what type of bike it is? It has white fenders and from what i remember as a kid the gas tank was silver. Did Yamaha ever make an IT 90 in the mid to late 70s?

Can anyone get their XS360 or 400 to pop a wheelie (with a stock sprocket)? I've been trying the "slip-the-clutch" technique, but I'm not even close. is this user error? or is this just an unrealistic expectation of such a small bike? Thanks

I figured this would get a lot more views by the appropriate people here rather then the wanted forum. I am in desperate need for a working ignition switch for a 1978 XS400E for less then the 190 Bikebandit wants for a new one. If anyone has any ideas, or a (confirmed) working part laying around, please let me know! (Or any ideas on other years that would be compatible?)

what I'am assuming is gasoline.. what else could it be. Now that she's getting rode more and more she is becoming wet on the exterior surface of the carb holder intake manifold boots. As you can tell from the pics they are old, cracked, beat up etc. I take it they need to be replaced to fix the problem. just making sure theres no other serious problem going on.. Also the little hose bib that comes out of it is capped.. the right side one has a vacumn line going to what looks like the petcock but the one in question on the left is capped.. is that normal? 1st pic circles the area that becomes wet after a ride second pic shows the cap in questi…

I've been trying to get my old bike running, but I'm not getting spark on the left cylinder. Its getting a nice spark on the right cylinder, but the left cylinder just sparks once when you hit the start button and once when you let off. I tried replacing the coil, but the new one acted the same. I checked the wiring connections and everything looked ok. Could this be in the ignition control box or is there somewhere else I should look? Thanks for your help.

I have a '74 RD200A. Got it out of a barn where it has been sitting since 1993. Motor turns over great. Put a new battery in it and all the lights work great. If I tap the electric starter button, it's fine, but if I hold it down for more than a second or two, the fuse trips. I don't know what the proper name is, but I'll call it the main fuse, under the seat. It's a 20A fuse. Any ideas what could be causing that? Is there only one fuse for there whole bike? Should it be a 20A fuse. The in line fuse holder is not factory. It was just spliced in by the previous owner. Could that be an issue? HELP! Chad

found a good deal on 77 XS360 mufflers, I know, i know, different displacement - even different part # ! , but what would the result be exactly. Too much back pressure? Carb tuning? Runs bad? Shortens life of motor?

I recently bought an ’81 DT175H Enduro. It has about 9600 miles on the speedometer. It had not been run for a couple of years. I cleaned up the bike; cleaned the fuel tank; replaced all of the fluids except for the 2 cycle oil; replaced the plug; removed the carb and thoroughly cleaned it and made sure the jets were clear. I removed the oil pump cover plate and bled the oil pump. I had to bump start it to get it running. I was running premium fuel (no Oil mix). The pump was activating. I ran it for about 10 minutes and ran through the gears. The bike quit and when I restarted the engine, I noticed that the red oil indicator light was lit up. I killed the engine…

After doing quite a bit of searching, and having the local shop look for a while, I can't seem to find an oil filter for my '76 xs500. I've seen the NOS ones on ebay selling for $40-70, but that is far too expensive for an oil filter in my opinion. I have not been able to nail down a straight answer from what I've read either, it seems there is some type of adapter that you can add to the motor to use current filters, but I can't find any more about it than that, also, the guy at the shop said to try and see if I can rebuild it, but thats about all the info he gave me. It seems yamaha discontinued this filter years ago, and not even K&N has stepped it up and made a re…

Hi all. When I first said hello in the bar a few weeks ago, I didn't think I'd be posting so soon, and I'll apologize in advance for rambling on. I have a CT3 that I've shaken awake from about a 30 year nap in my garage, but it's doing something that is really frustrating and I'm hoping someone can help look into the future and tell me what I'll find. I'll start by saying that I've chemically cleaned all rust from the tank (I believe) rebuilt the carb, replaced the air cleaner, new plug, changed all fluids. It now starts easily, seems to run smoothly at low to medium RPM (5-6k) or so. The real high end isn't as good I remember when it was new, but I chalked that…

I bought this 74' DT 175 in the desert last weekend and it ran great. I get it up here where I live at 7500ft altitude and it boggs out in the first 1/4 or so of throttle and doesn't want to idle unless the choke is on, seems to run good in the top end though, we ride up from here to about 9000ft. Can anyone with experience advise me on jetting this high? Thanks for any help

I like the look of this bike since I took off the goofy fairing/windshield. Runs very smooth, 16k miles. I am going to get the sound I want out of it but I am not sure what way I am going to go about it. Should I drill out the baffles or put holes around the baffles or should I spring for whole new exaust? Also, what do you think I should have paid for this bike? http://www.yamahaclub.com/forums/garage/vehicle/167-yamaha-xs-750/page__tab__images That's me.

Hi There. Well, now that I've gotten the 175 running fairly well, I have a relatively minor problem that just plain bugs me. From another thread you may know that I replaced the clutch basket after accidentally braking one of the ears off while removing the primary drive gear. Because of that, I used two of the existing metal clutch discs to make a removal tool and ordered two new ones as replacements. The new clutch holding took worked fine, and all of the other work went OK as well. However, after re-assembling everything, the first time I tried things, the clutch did not release at all no matter how the clutch lever or pushrod was adjusted. (Neutral was fine, b…

Greetings. I'm a newbe to this forum and just last week I bought the xv500 virago as is. It now runs well with very little spent to get it going. The only thing I need now is a right side (battery) cover. Any one recomend a good source? I've recycled a five litre viniger jug as a temperary cover and painted it black. Sorta looks O.K.!
