Howdy, So today I've started to think about making my custom loom up, only to discover that my coils only have one wire going into them.... Normally there is two. What does this mean? Are they completely unusable or is there a way around this?

I have an original condition october 1972 RD350A, it was imported from the USA by the previous owner and on the V55 it is detailed that it was first registered January 1973. Is it correct that I will have to re-register the bike and declare the bikes true manufacture date with a letter of support from the club. Is this something the club can help me with. Any help will be appreciated )

have taken the forks off my parts bike and going to try to rebuild them and put on my good bike but for the life of me I cannot get the oil seals out. things ive tried. first taking out the retainer clip then torching the fork and prying out with tire lever. will not move. filling forks with water and pounding with mallet. water leaks thru since I've damaged the seals so much at this point. feels like Ive torn both my rotator cuffs at this point messing with this dang thing. I've even lit the seal on fire and let it burn and the thing still will not move. Theres no way to pound on it from below unless I'm missing something? Any other ideas.

I have a 1972 CS5 twin cylinder two stroke. The side of the gear case is stamped 850 cc and the shop manual calls for 850 ml of oil. When I add this amount it is WAY above the high mark on the dipstick and it appears to be am much higher oil level than other similar bikes I have owned (RD350 and RD250). It also leaks when ridden, perhaps due to overfilling. I have drained and refilled it twice letting it drain overnight and rocking carefully to get all the old oil out. I am tempted to remove oil until the level agrees with the marks on the dipstick but I am afraid of possible transmission damage. Does someone who really knows have an idea what is the correct oil lev…

Hello all, Just got a 1983 Yamaha XS400 last week. It took some TLC but it now goes down the road, however the front master cylinder assembly was not working and needs replaced. After searching I think this (Part #08-0255) at this site www.mikesxs.net will work. How do I determine what mm bore I have, to make sure? thanks, Greg

I am the new owner of a classic yamaha and am searching for thoughts and ideas on how to restore my new(old) bike. It was given to me by a co-worker, it is a 1969 Yamaha AT-1 B. The engine seized up in 1981 and the bike has not been riden since then, it has been sitting in a shed for almost 30 years. I am going to take the engine out this weekend and see how much damage was done. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. btw...this is my first Yamaha

Today I installed the idle screw kits and choke rod seals I got from MikesXS. Wanted to wait until I got the butterfly shaft rod seals but they are out of stock and I couldn't get any info on when they would be back in stock. All I can say is that the difference is amazing!! Dust cover plugs had already been removed by a previous owner so the job was a little easier. The o-rings on the idle screws were still in one piece but were quite firm and somewhat deformed. The screw tips were in good shape but I installed the new set from the kit. The choke rod gaskets on the bike were very hard and broke apart as I removed them. After removing the choke rod and being careful not …

Hello, I was wondering if i could get so much needed help. I'm pretty new to working on bikes but have a few basics down. I Currently have an 81 xs400 that i got a couple months ago (i made a previous about starting issues). Anyways, after i installed a new battery i decided i'd clean the air filters to help the bike run better. Apon taking the air filters off the bike and opening up i found that they basically disintegrated and were very patchy in spots(they also had a smell of petrol and felt moist). I went ahead and cleaned them and ordered some bulk uni filter foam to replace it, I only wanted to use this solution as something more temporary because i want to eventual…

My XV110 has no oil pump chain tensioner and the chain seems quite slack. Haynes Manual says there is a tensionsioner which is part the chain cover but I've heard elsewhere the later models (mine is 1986) do not have a tensioner. Shall be grateful if anyone can say for sure whether my engine should have a chain tensioner or not.
