Hello guys, Have this little GT80 got off ebay , was sitting for a long while. cleaned it up , lubed, and the normal stuff, The shifter will move and spring back, but it will not engange any gear. I can engage and release the clutch, but the bike is stuck in some gear. I got it started and it will start and run fine, but it will not shift. Think the clutch is shot too because it will not pull with the clutch all the way out, the cable is adjusted as far as it can go, So I am going to have to open it up to take a look at this clutch, was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to look for as far as the shifting? Bent fork? Broken shaft? Any advice is …

HI all. I'm looking at a '83 Yamaha XS Eleven Special that i want to buy. The bike looks neat enough but it has 85000km (52000 miles) on the clock. Is there anything specific i should check for? The guy also said that when pulling away with full power (aka dragging i guess) the shaft sometimes slips but that it's a known problem with the XS Eleven. Is this true or is it something i whould worry about and avoid the bike? Thanks in advance.

Hi to all. I have Yamaha RS200 1982 and I have some problems with carbouretor. I have managed to start it few times but it runs for a econds and than stops I think its carb problem . When I inject some petrol directly into carb it fires up but than dies after few seconds, when it runs it runs on high revs only.Anyone have any idea ?does anyone knowes where I can buy carb repair kits for this model and if one from RD200 will fit RS200 as carbs look the same but RD has two of them?

Mello Greetings. With 100 miles on the rebuild of Ole Red, time to do some searching. I am noticing a vibration that I am associating with bearings. It becomes very pronounced at 3100-3200 rpm, then again around 4100 rpm. If I vary the throttle just a little, the vibes decrease to what I consider normal for a two-stroke. When I pit my palm on the flywheel casing I can feel the vibes as the rpm changes, but it's not scary, just I know it's there and wondering what the long-term import may be. Please, I must have your thoughts...

hey guys, ive had this bike since i was 15, im 22 now, i learned to ride on it and i want to fix it up. I was wondering if there was anyone who put a larger cc motor in that was a direct swap? also I was looking for a new motor to rebuild because the bottom end of mine really isnt worth putting together, something broke in the kick starter assembly and over years ive lost parts so it would be easier to buy a complete engine. any suggestions or leads would be great, thanks guys! pulled the motor today and stripped it down.

I've got a 73 at3 125 that runs great but won't go into gear. I've pulled both side covers off. I can get the clutch push rod out on the right side (I'm almost positive it's a two piece rod with a ball) but the other rod seems to be stuck. If I turn the the adjustment screw it appears to push the rod some. Am I missing something? Is there anything else that could be holding the rod in place? any help would be great!

the rear brake pedal on my xt500 is a bit sloppy so changed it for a new part but it has not made any differance to the play. is it correct that it is only pushed through the frame and the brake pedal clamp is the only thing holding it in place?

Working on a cool old 77 YZ80D for my daughter- sat for a few years as I understand it. Got it running right away, ran good for a while, but then started dying. Took the fuel tank off and completely cleaned it out, as well as the fuel valve. Installed new fuel filter and hoses. Then, took carb all apart, very carefully and completely. Completely cleaned out all orifices and replaced all that I could-- all gaskets, being careful not to change or damage float, needle/seat, etc. Cleaned and blew out jet, everything. Put back together. Now, it will run great for just a few minutes, then will begin to run rough and die. When checking the plug, it looks fuel-fouled. …

Good day all, In looking around the different manuals available, I see that in one place the light switch console for my 1978 DT has an on-off switch and a dimmer. In another place only the dimmer is present. My original harness seems to support the latter single-switch set-up, so I'm wondering if the two-switch is incorrect or a mid-year changeover. Loosing precious brain cells on this one, gents ( and ladies, if present )).

Just acquired a 1977 (title says 78), seems to be completely original (read "old"), actually LOOKS alright, even if it doesn't run. Paint original burgundy? is in very decent condition, wire spoke wheels w/drum brakes. So far haven't even bothered with turning it over; that might be the first question also since only kick-start, noticed no electric start and thought they all came with that. Also wire rims and drum brakes, does that mean earliest or economy bike? Anyway I don't know anything about the thing (have alot to read here) and also never restored anything, haven't even ridden for 15 years when I bought a new ZX-6. Reborn enthusiast with a new and differen…

  19. Hello fellow Yamaha riders, I am having difficulty finding tyres for my L2G. (This is the exact bike) I live in Melbourne, Australia and the local japanese motorcycle mechanic can't find any tyres to suit my bike. The old Yokahamas (I think they're the original tyres the bike rolled out of the factory with) are 2.50 - 18" size and I was wondering if these Michelins will fit: http://motorcycle.michelin.com.au/twproduct/findProduct/moreProduct/20 These would fit my bike, right? Any help is greatly appreciated -Reg

  20. 1969 Yamaha YG5T trailmaster 80 Wiring question. I have most of the wiring done, but am missing the most important part. How to get voltage INTO the system, and back to the battery I am going to look around, but what I need help with most is how to wire the 12v voltage regulator to the battery bought a service manual, but my VR only has 2 terminals, and the manual has 5. Just thought Yamaha might have used the same VR wiring schemes in a few bikes. If anyone thinks they have an idea, please let me know, I have been looking EVERYWHERE. Here is the wiring diagram I have. But I dont have a (red) wire coming from the stator, and I have (2) terminals…
