Hi, I had a brother who died on a yamaha motorcycle in 1967 due to a car pulling out in front of him. I was only 2 years old when this happened. Through talking with my older brother the only information he could give me was that he had two yamahas a 80 cc and a 250cc scrambler is what he remembers, I was able to locate the accident report through my mom and on that document it said bike was a 1967 yamaha but did not list the cc's or model. It gave a serial # of u26-690, I do not know if that was a number off the bike or the license number. That number appeared on two different documents listing it as the serial number. I have tried searching that number and I can not fin…

Hey guys and girls, As I said I would I thought I would post up the pictures of my front wheel that I have restored myself. It is not restored fully, as Im skint and I was quite happy with it looking good, not perfect. As you can see from the before and after pix, I have buffed the rim, removing most of the rust, but not touching the chrome. No way was I gonna get it rechromed. I also bought a 370W bench grinder with soft brass buffing wheel, sisal wheel, colour mop and 2 cloth buffing mops. Along with some brown and blue compound. The spokes were restored using the crimped brass wire wheel and colour mop. All nipples were replaced with nickel coated brass, and 5 bro…

The cheapest set of carburetor inlet rubbers I can find are on wemoto.com at about 83GBP. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative ? I get the impression that these things are hard to find on the second-hand market. Any opinions/advice would be much appreciated. Thx.

Hi, I'm sorry if this seems like an obvious post but this is my first ever bike. I own a beautiful 1978 YB100, which I picked up a few months back. It passed it's MOT about 5 weeks ago and all was going smoothly until I noticed that the front r/h indicator was staying on rather than flashing, instinct told me to check the back one as soon as i stopped and I wasn't surprised to find it wasn't working. The bulb is fine so I'm thinking it could be a bad earth? I've checked the main earth on the battery and cleaned all of the connections inside the side compartment but still no joy - am I missing something obvious? as for the horn, it was brand new for the MOT and was work…

I have found an auction from JT's motorcycles on eBay UK, and it says: "YAMAHA RD200 DX / YCS1 / YB125 / YB200 38 TOOTH REAR SPROCKET (REPLICA)". I konw that the same models of 200 DX uses the correct sprocket, but I'm unsure about this one. It seems the part number is 836-38. Here's the auction: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item19ce66b299 It has the correct sprocket in the bottom left in the picture, but it's of course only an example. The annoying thing is that I tried to send a question to JT, but they're not open for that on eBay. Even though the auction says: Right. That's easy when it's impossible to ask questions! So does anybody know if this fits the…

My son's really enjoying his bike, since he got the drivers licence last week (after so much training with me that he spent 1/3 of the average you'll have to pay for that lisence in Norway - yes, I'm proud of both him and myself!), except for one thing: We have a 40 km long stretch of highway between our house and our cabin, where he spends much of this summer. The speed limit there is 100, and he can't stick to that in the hills. Another strech of that road is 90, and even that is a problem if the wind's against him. So is there a simple/easy (read: cheap...) way of giving him just a few more horsepowers to manage those hills and the wind? It's an 81 DX that was bought i…

Lads i dunno if any of you can shed some light on a problem i have with my 200 twin 2 stroke.. the bike basically the bike bogs down really badly when trying to pull away but once on the move pulls very well and cleanly through the gears.. I have checked the plugs, compression, carb has been cleaned, checked for air leaks at inlet rubber... it also wont idle and although i cant swear to it sounds like its dropping to one cylinder as the revs get close to what should be adle speak.. I have no idea if its a mechanical fault, fuel/air fault or electrical... oh its an RS200 which i believe is the same engine as the RD200 just with a single carb instead twin carbs

just had my left bank carb reworked and now have a head gasket oil leak and the bike over heats at a normal operating temp. my tech suspects the cylinder has not seen compression in some time. wondering if anyone has any insight into this matter? what compression readings should i expect to see? can the head gasket be replaced on the bike or does the engine need to be removed?

Hello. I have a 1981 Yamaha xt250. I recently took the motor apart and done some work to it then I put everything back together. I done the timing perfect. Adjusted the valves at the right specs done everything right. But now for some reason when you start it,it kicks back really hard and it starts but runs pretty weird. Its like everything is moving to advanced and I tried everything to fix it but nothing is working. If can can help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks. Robert.
