I've just started working on a 1980 XS650SE that I picked up last weekend and amongst it's many problems is the clear part of the front brake master cylinder has turned a strange opaque white colour! I've never seen one go like this before, does anyone know if it can be restored or do I have to track down a replacement?

  3. Hi all I have laid my hands on a mk2 black n red rd125 lc I need parts and wanted to know if anyone has any parts or where I can get my mitts on some quality used n new parts..!!!

  4. I have bought a parts bike for my son's RD (some moron backed a trailer on it in a parking lot and bent the front end), and it has a fairing that according to the seller is original. Is that really true? It fits very well, but I haven't foune any pictures of these bikes with a similar fairing. It's not so different from my own RD 350 LCII's headlight fairing. The reason I ask is that the screen is broken, and I need to find out where I can get another one. He really wants to use that fairing!

Hi , I am currently visiting Taipei and had a friend look up if spokes for my CT2 would be available. He gave me a cost of about 0.30 USD per piece but was asking for exact lenght before getting a final cost detail. I think the cost for a set shipped would come down to 50% of the ones sold out of Thailand. I have 18 inch wheels frond and back. Does someone have the exact length, inner and outer? I would hate to have to take them off the bike to measure. Thanks, Adil

  8. Started by Dull Johnny,

I have a 1972 DT2 250 Enduro. It has only 4900 miles on it but ever since I rode it first gear slips, not all the time but the majority of the time. I've spoken to a few mechanics and their input was that the bike was ridden by someone who learned to ride on the bike. I'm guessing this was my brother who learned to ride on this bike when he was in high school. I'm contemplating doing the work myself. The clutch has a very short range to it in terms of grab and release (springs worn out?) and I figure if I'm going to do that I might as well as replace 1st gear as well. I've done minor work on the bike, carb rebuild, cleaned up the piston, etc. So here is the question… i…

Hello, I have a leaking muffler gasket on my 73 rt3. I ordered a gasket from Motorsport.com but have no idea how to put it on. I want to just take the muffler off, clean everything up, wrap the material around the muffler end a few times and put it back together. I don't even know if this is the right gasket. Does anyone have any tips on installing? Thanks, Bill

  13. Started by motersicklebum,

i obtained a free 82, 550 YICS, Maxim. i got it running after cleaning the carbs. it tachs up great in neutral but breaks-up while riding at about 5K rpm. it's doing the same thing that an XS 650 did to me. that turned out to be an ignition problem caused by a points retrofit..... the carbs on this 550 are probably not perfectly adjusted but they should't cause such a dramatic breaking-up at high rpm. to keep it idling i have to turn in the idle screw way too much which causes the rpm's to fall very slowly after i let up on the throttle. again, this is the exact same thing that my xs650 did to me.... so now i'm leaning toward a bad coil. any suggestions? …

My name is mark and I live in australia.. I have a Yamaha motorcross bike that has belonged to my wife for about 10years. We dont really know what it is. At first glance it looks like a DT400 engine in a MX250B frame, but the guys at Yamaha had it for a couple of weeks and said there have been Modifications Frame # 509-007392 Engine # 574-000323 there is a 50000 stamped under the head fins From what I can see the 574- engine number is not a dt400 number at all Any assisttance you can give us would be greatly appreciated

I'm planning on having a bike restored. Anyone here have any recommendations for someone in Northern California area that can do a good job at a reasonable price? Thanks.

  16. Started by Captain Triple,

I have recently converted my 1981 DT175MX to a 125. Seems silly I know, but it was a nice cheap way of getting my lad mobile for his 17th Birthday, and I made him do the work by way of some education. It runs ok using all the 175 carburation set up, but its not quite as sharp as it could be ( Its hard to tell as Im used to it as a 175). Its pretty well run in now and the plug colour is a bit on the dark side. Im thinking I ought to try changing the jet or perhaps the clip position. Anyone out there with a view on this. I think Im on a 160 main and the clip position is number 3, standard exhaust and air box. Nb the long term plan is to put it back to a 175 but tests h…

  17. Started by Chunkstyle,

hi guys -- i'm a novice working on rebuilding the engine on my old ct1 175 & was wondering if somebody could please answer a couple questions: 1. while i've got the case cracked, i'm also replacing as many of the bearings as i can, as insurance. in the crankshaft area of the case, water got in so that there was sludge in there that rusted the left side crank bearing somewhat. since the lower connecting rod bearing is in that same area and down low, i'm wondering if i've got to replace it as well, even though it's not easily removable. it doesn't look rusted, but it's hard to see it well, between the crank counterweights, and there is some rust on those weigh…

Hi All, I've recently bought a non running YG1 and have discovered that the clutch actuating lever (that is inside the crankcase cover is missing) The part is discontinued, does anyone have one kicking around that they would be either willing to sell or loan me so I can get something engineered, I would be willing to pay any carriage charges regards Wombledog

My son's bike has damaged fork legs. Does anybody know if the fork legs from a watercooled RD 125 (LC) will fit, or if other legs will fit? I have found lower legs for CS5/RD200 on eBay, could those fit? Thanks in advance!
