ive been converting a 78 dt175 back to street legal and when i bought it the tack cable was cut but the end is still in the crackcase and sealed up if tried yanking this thing and cannot get it out. Not sure if theres a trick to it or what but can someone please shed some light on this for me and help me with instructions on how to get it out? thanks. sorry couldnt get a picture

I'm sorting out the wiring on an 85 XT350 which was a field bike for a short spell - no its not that bad! - most of the loom is still there but has been hacked about some. At preset there are the wires coming up from the engine to the CDI and coil and to the stop button but nothing else. When i traced it out the wiring diagram it shows 2 x "control boxes" and 1 x appears to be under the clocks on a set of clocks I've bought. The engine runs without the second box being wired up so what does it do?

Hi Bit confused here my Dt250 1981 has no stripes on tank so I thought i'll get some made,now I been looking at some other bikes on the net and there are 2 types one with stripes going the length of the tank and another with Dt and going from top to bottom of tank and stripes on the side panel does anyone know what was the right sticker for that year Cheers all

Hi all, i have a 2001 TDM 850 and would like to ask that when i pushed the start button i get a loud bang from the exhaust and the engine did not start at this morning. After several seconds i attempted to start again and it started immediately and all was normal after that. In the past couple of weeks the same situation had happened three times after not using the bike for 3 or 4 days. Can anyone has an idea why this occurs? Thanks in advance.

Hi All, Great forum! I posted the below content on another forum and have also come here for some possible guidance. Please bear in mind that I am a 36 year old who has just dicovered a new hobby and that I am a complete novice! "I have recently aquired a 2003 DTR125 from a friend of a friend which I am to beleive was a stolen then recovered bike. The issue I have is not a problem as such, but it looks as if the previous owner did some tinkering with the bike, as he used it soley off road, which is fine as that is what I am doing. Hi I'm replacing the head gasket on my '98 XT600 and wanted to check whether I can use the T mark on the flywheel which is TDC for timing the camshaft. The manual assumes you'll have the whole engine in bits and referrs to aligning the dot on the camchain drive sprocket with a mark on the case. The problem of course is that this is all behind the flywheel and I dont really want to have to remove the left hand cover and flywheel to get access. CHeers Karl

hi can any one explain why when i put the center pipe back in to my fmf back box (the smaller pipe in the middle) of the back box to reduce noise,i rode for about 2 miles on road then about 2 mile green laneing-the bike suddenly started to back fire,i thought water had got in so revved the crap out of it , the reves were low, it eventually died and to my surprise the back box had been turned into a second combustion chamber blowing out the exit pipe completely -least to say its fucked the back of my new bike ! bought it Monday,any ideas-.could it be the ignition coil assembly?it has a yz top end and wr gearbox

Just bought a yamaha dt 125cc offroader and it fired up then cut out straight away so i tried starting it again and now it wont fire up, ive checked for a spark and there isnt one :S why is this if it fired up first time? cheers

Hi, I have a dt125 fully converted to offroad use, Is it normal for the float valve in the carb to get stuck if I leave the fuel tap on overnight? everytime it gets stuck i have to take the bike apart and drain the carb out. also i have tryed starting my bike up with fuel tap turned off to drain it, this doesnt work. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution please reply thanks. regards, Wes

I have a 1980 Dt 125 that I bought a few weeks ago for a $100.00 that is in great shape and with a liitle carb clean runs great but getting it to run is a different story. It will not start by kicking it over I have to run it down the street a few times and dump the clutch for it to even try to run and when it does finally start it runs like crap I have to keep the throttle held wide open for it to stay running and it runs like it is choked if its warmed up but after driving it around for a few minutes like that it starts to run good but when I go to cold start it is nearly impossible to get it going. Any ideas on what might be wrong would be deeply appreciated thanks

Whats the largest size for rear tire,I love how my rear is metric and my front standard.Front is 2.75 and looks like it can take a 3.00.Wonder if rear will take a 4.00 before rubbing? Buck 2003 xt 225 ,K&N,exhaust mod,jetted..

Hi all, Im curious to know if i could fit a DT125 engine (or 125cc engine of any sort) im my 1984 DT50MX frame? Ill be getting the R125 next year but i want to make this a project to do in my spare time. The bike is only 6v - would i need to rewire the bike to a 12v to make the engine run properly? Basically can it be done without making any MAJOR modifications to the frame of the bike?? Hi. I have just recently bought an 05 DTRX that has been sitting for a year previously. Could someone please tell me what i should change and replace? I have guessed that it is a good idea to change the engine oil and possibly the transmission oil and coolant? I have looked in the service manual and it does not tell you how to do a complete engine oil change? Is it just a case of draining it out and filling it up? Any other suggestions on what should be checked etc will be much appreciated. The bike had been serviced not long before it was left for the year and please bare in mind I am completly new to this..... Thanks in advance

As some of you may know, i have a DT50mx, 1984 But when I try to indicate, it takes like 2-3 seconds for it to actually START blinking, but when i swap it to the other side directly, its instant, as it should be.. Any thoughts? or is this normal? 'Cause its REALLY annoying =/
