Dual Sport, Offroad Bikes

I have a 1970 CT-175. The thing runs great and iI have it all dialed in, except one problem. The front headlight is burned out and I am having a terrible time trying to find a bulb for it. The bulb tha tis burned out is made by Kioto, but I can't find anything by searching that. I would love any help or ideas as to how to get this thing working. Thanks, Andy

hi I have just bought a 1975 DT 175 I am having a problem when running bike, it fires up 1st kick and revs freely but when i am riding it seems to be missing and spluttering under acceleration and there is a distinct lack of power any ideas

ok so i have put on a vm24 roundslide mikuni onto a dt175e. the probelm is, im a total newb to bikes (only worked on trucks until now) and i have no idea how to adjust this thing so that it runs right. a fellow yamahacluber informed me on the settings: Main Jet 140 Needle Jet 0-2 Jet Needle 4J13 Clip posn 3 Pilot Jet 22.5 Air screw 1 14 turns out Float level 21mm but that doesnt really mean alot...so could anyone out there walk me through this? maybe even a couple pictures? thank you in advance.. rob

hi, i am brand new to this site hoping for some help as soon as posible. i have a very well maintained it200 that i have taken great care of and out of no where i have no spark and bike will not run for crap. i can push start the bike just fine and it will run like the plug is fauled i rode it for a few hours the day before and torwards the time i was heading home i noticed it was running a little funny kind of like the plug was just fouled so i brought it home washed it all up and put it away for the night the next morning i was geting ready to go riding i went out bought a new ngk spark plug and it had no spark. now the funny thing is this has happened before but last t…

It would appear my fuel tap is weeping fuel when turned on, only a very slight leak and doesn’t seem to cause any running problems however I obviously want to fix it. Is there anyone selling fuel tap repair kits for a DT175MX ???

Hi just a new member and still trying to find my way around, I am trying to find out the year of registration for my DT250, although it is registered as a T suffix the DVLA require a date, does anyone know how I go about finding this out. Thanks

hello most of you might be aware iv just got a honda hornet 600 and today was my first day out on it restricted after having a really good day i stopped at a service station when i came back i found i had snapped my key ( i no its a honda and im asking for help on a yamaha forum) after a hour of fiddling and fettling the broken half of the key into the igntion i managed to get it started thank god or it would have been a really really long walk! do i have to replace the barrel now? rough cost? or is there any alternatives? any help would be much appreciated

hi guys great site,well here goes first time post so bear with me.am after the rear bracket that ataches the numberplate/backlight to the mudguard on my dt250c part number is458-84558-30-20 it is the same bracket fitted to a lot of twinshock dts or if anyone has one i can get a pattern from to get fabricated that would also be very helpful any sugestions very welcome

like it says i have a 86 tt600 that quit working last summer. i got it home to find out that the complete ignition system failed stator,cdi,and coil. since then i got the stator rewound got a new cdi, coil, and plug.still wont fire here are the things i do know while kicking i get 200v from stator,4v from the trigger coil,the cdi wants to fire the coil but wont,i tested the coil at work and it does work. pleas help me summer is coming and i cant ride yet

I've been looking at getting back into Yamaha's 2 strokes , as I used to have a 1983 Yamaha DT 175MX, many.. many.. many moons ago.. Recently felt like reviving my youth by buying another one.. However, when I think back to those days, the bike I really hankered for at the time was the DT400.. I’m now trying to find an original DT400 here in the UK, and as you all know they are hard to come by .. I remembered reading a small article in MCN sometime ago about a company doing restoration…

Can anybody offer up any advice on fitting new pads to the rear disc on my little Yam please. I am pretty sure that I'll need to drop the rear wheel off and wonder if it is a job that I can do by myself.

I have a 1992 WR200 and am looking for an LED tail light strip to go above my license plate holder similar to the setup on most sport bikes. The bike is legal for the road and the original setup is very dim at idle so I'm hoping an LED might be a better way to go- any ideas where i might find such a thing? Any links to pictures?

hello DT owners! i have recently purchased a Dt 125 =- 1988 model. what i want to do is turn it into a motard. has anybody used and road bike front ends or converted to monoshock at all? i would love some info as this is my first DT im building! any info would be great! ciao

After having removed the head, barrel and piston for a good de-coke I find a very thin spacer / oil control ring sitting under / behind the second piston ring. Looking in all the manuals and on the web there doesn’t appear to be any reference to this ring ??? I believe it to be an oil control ring ? but not totally sure why it’s fitted, I must admit it was a bit of a shock to find it hiding away in the piston groove. I don’t recall coming across a ring like this when rebuilding a 2 stroke previously. Anyway I believe it should be replaced on reassembly which is fine as I know where it came from however the 2 piston rings seem slightly different and I’m not sure whic…

Hi guys im new to the forum and it seems very good! i do though have a problem it started one day when i was riding to see a friend all my lights went off, i mean indicators, N light, oil light, oil gauge stopped working and bike just cut out. So i stopped at my local motor cycles place, and they said its prob the battery so i ordered one. After that he said he had taken off the relay underneath the seat as i don’t need it??? Now i looked at the dtr manual and it said on there it was a flashing relay? ( they have two relays? one near the front light and another one under the seat) i looked at the relay where they had taken it off and the connections where rusted …
