Free bike parking for motorcyclists could be scrapped nationally because information needed to oppose the move has been kept from riders, according to campaigners. Under law people have six months to object to new parking charges for motorcycles becoming permanent. But public notices telling riders vanished within days of the charges being introduced. A campaign group says motorcyclists across the country will lose long-standing free bike parking bays and urges riders to sign the group’s petition on Number 10’s website at Deadline to sign up by: 06 March 2009 http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/bikeparkingfees/

Hi all, The handle bar on the Tenere got bent and I don't own the shop manual at the mo. I'm trying to find a suitable handle bar but the ones I can find have different sizes. I suppose 80cm ones are the right ones. Any suggestions on what to use? TIA and cheers, Hakan

Hi all, I have just bought a non running DT175 on a 79 chassis, I believe though that the engine is from a different year. I'm not sure whether this will cause problems or not, but i need to get a CDI for it, so when I find one it needs to be the right one. The Source coils are there and there are 6 wires from them. The only marks i can find on the engine are: 2A700 171CC I'm wondering if the 2A700 is an identification No. or serial No. i would hope that it means something. Anybody have any ideas about the year, also if there will be issues later in the resto with matching different engine to frame, that may trip me up? (it mounts ok) Any help will b…

I have a 2006 R6. The key is giving me trouble, and I suspect a faulty ignition barrel. Sometimes wiggling the wire at the back of the ignition works; sometimes it doesn't. This is a UK bike with an imobiliser. Can I change just the ignition barrel or do I have to change the Ignition, ECU, Petrol Cap, and Seat Lock? Will the required parts from any other year fit the 06?

Hi all, Just to say hello, and let you know what I will be picking your brains for during the next few months of the restoration. I have just acquired a non running 1979 DT175MX, it needs plenty of work to get it to its former glory, but I am looking forward to getting it mint. I have been reading the posts recently to get the bumf on what to look for which has helped alot. There is clearly a lot of knowledge out there, and hopefully as I get further into the restoration I will be able to add to it. Anyway, See you all on the forum, Taffny.

Hi all Any suggestions on removing a siezed shock bolt? the steel bolt has seized into the alloy "rocker" on the bottom of the linkage. The shock turns freely on the sleeve as the bushes were all replaced a couple of years ago but no amount of persuasion, heat' WD40 etc seems to get it moving. Somebody must have some ideas, I've tried the biggest hammer I've got but I think it willl damage the rocker if I give it any more grief. Thanks

Anybody done a jack up at the back? swapped the rear unit for another or bodged this some how? On the same note, any one changed the forks for more travel? which model did you take them from please? many thanks

Hey again Yamahaclub Just checkin' in again.. I would like to know if the TDM850 would be a good bike for A2 license. My dad is either going to give me his old Z650 (Kawasaki) which is an awesome little cruiser.. not that I'd ever ride it on the road of anything .. Or the TDM850 from 1991. My thoughts are that as the TDM is a V-twin, it'll stop the 33Bhp restrictor from making it splutter as theres more low range power than the inline on the Z. Any thoughts? But i'm sure the Z would be cheaper on insurance as its a classic, and its a lower CC. Happy new year!

I have a '77 DT400 that needs a new reed valve. I found and bought one for a '78 model (Have not received it yet) According to a Yamaha web site the '77 & '78 have different part #'s.I'm replacing the cage and reed assembly. Both are four reed set-ups though. My question is should this one for the '78 work in the '77. Thanks for any help.
