I have a 1983 XJ 750 Maxim. I screwed up the wires last year, they are now sparking out on the engine block. I have been pricing new coil packs, and cannot afford the 120/side they will cost. My question is, can I replace just the wires? Looks like they are part of the coil and does not come apart easily. If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks.

New to the forum, so thanks in advance. Got my 6yr old son a ttr50 over the winter. He loves it as its his first bike! The problem is that the throttle sometimes does not fully return to idle speed. At first I thought the choke did not fully close, but pushed that off. The twist grip does return to closed but the engine still revs higher than it should. This happens intermittently. When he's moving it seems ok, but when he comes to a stop in neutral it sometimes sticks. Any info would be helpful. I have a very basic knowledge of small engines. Thanks!

I recently bought a 2005 DT50 with a bent and split side stand mount. Im thinking bending it back and then welding up the split in the plate. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone know if there is a centre stand available for this bike or for another that may fit? I see it has mountings on the frame. I cant think of any other options so would like to hear if you have any other ideas. Thanks Rob

Just got my XT350 on the road after re-building it from a field bike but I've a problem with the speedo not working. The cable came with the speedo and it was supposed to be off an XT350, it all fits up ok but the speedo doesn't work. I tried disconnecting the cable at the drive end and putting the drive pin on the cable into the cordless drill but this didn't turn the speedo so i re-connected the cable to the speedo drive and left the speedo end off, spun the wheel but the cable doesn't turn. Also with the cable connected up to the speedo drive you can't turn the cable by hand so it is engaged. Anyone got any suggestions what to try next? Thanks

Just got my bike MOT'd and on the way home (flat out down the duel carriageway) she feels like she’s about to seize, so quickly in with the clutch and coast to a stop !!! No ignition lights? Checked the main fuse and that’s blown, put the spare in, I now have ignition lights back, but when trying to kick the bike over there’s very little compression !!! Wait for the nice RAC man who has a quick look, we remove the spark plug and kick it over, he say’s there’s a spark but a week one. Eventually I get loaded on a trailer with the bike and get home after a couple of hours sitting by the side of the road. So off with the head and barrel, the rings have welded themsel…

Has anyone been that impatient, or skint to not buy new swing arm bushes and re use old ones? Ive drifted them out of a spare swing arm but in the haynes manual it claims its impossible to do without damaging the bush. They wanna charge me 55 quid for all 4 bushes, 2 shims and 2 oil seals, and make me wait til later next week because its easter. So im tempted to re use the ones ive drifted out as they dont look to bad, was just wondering if anyone has done this before and then had loads of play as a result? Its only a field bike so doesnt need to pass mot. Cheers

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and to riding/owning. I've just bought a 1989 TT600 but am struggling to find content/mods/parts on the net but do have a Clymer manual which seems only to cover models up to 1986, hoping this will do!? Anyway any knowledge or advice much appreciated as I want to rebuild this bike and learn all about them in the process. Thanks and look forward to replies, David

hey all, my 78 dt 175 died after a day of biking, and we broke it down and found the piston and gaskets were fine. what we do see it that the connecting rod is next to locked up, so its really hard to kick over, even with the piston out and in the open. so the bearings went? we may just place the whole bottom end but any insight will help thanks everyone

Hi, i ride an 05 Dtr on the road and recently bought a lot of ebay which consisted of a complete 2002 Dtr which was a non runner, and a medley of parts that was clearly someones project that got abandoned. All off road ofcourse. I've had the 02 dt apart, engine rebuild and its now running like a dream, well apart from the fuel tap seal failing on me, which apparently you cannot get hold of so guess its a whole new tap.... Anyway i digress, the original point is about the rest of the parts.... He tells me that all the parts are there to make a complete 1986 dt. Looking at the bits i see that there are a few differences between the later Dt's and these Dt125L…
