Trying to find a metal number plate for my XT600 , anyone know where I can get one ? Fitted a lazer exhaust and its melted my plate ! Most Metal ones I have seen are for Custom bikes ?

Yo - CharlieP here from central Oregon with my 83 XT550. I tried the search but nothing came up and I haven't had time to really go page by page thru my shop manual (pdf on CD i got off of eGay ) I'd like to know how to adjust the cam chain. I've heard that this is one of the items to stay on top of with the XT550's. Thanks

Hi, i just bough a pair of front sprocket for my 1976 dt175 on ebay but there seem's to be a problem: The sprocket is not as thick as the original, or as thick as the rear sprocket(that i also bought on ebay from another vendor). I suppose the sprocket will fit on the shaft but is it going to be ok with the chain?? I should ride a 428 size chain as original... Will my front sprocket just use prematurely or will it break? or will my chain break because of a smaller pressure point? there is a slack from side to side, is there chance that the chain skip out? Even the teeth seems(ARE) not as high... as you can see in these... the new front sprocket t…

Hey everyone new to the site. Just picked up a 77 DT 400 lastnight. The bike is missing the fuel/air mixture screw and I'm being told it is disconituned from yamaha. Does anybody know if the part from a diff bike like a dt 250 or something would be the same thanks Rocky

Being 6ft5 I find my DT125R is a little small for me, is there anyway of adjusting or replacing the rear suspension to increase the ride height??

Hello I have a 78 dt250 and a couple days ago i was riding it around on the streets and it just shut off and now it wont turn back on. I have checked the spark and it is getting good spark there is fuel going to the carb and nothing jammed in the air filter. When it died it seemed like it was out of gas but before i rode i had top the tank off. I know the bike might have some bad wirring do yal might think that something shorted out? Any info would be great i miss riding the bike. Cliff notes. Took the bike out rode around and it shut off. Now it wont turn over, Checked the Fuel air and spark and made sure that it wasnt on engine off and it wont turn on.

I think the oil pump is not working on my DT 400(1978 I think), I'm thinking I can just mix the gas. What ratio should I use? the electrical doesn't work either, do I need a fully charged battery? I've lost the key, but I can move the switch to start and ride the bike. Maybe I can't move the switch far enough to get the lights to work? The bike has been sitting around for a few years, I'm just trying to get it going to teach my son to ride bikes (he's a teenager). Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, have been trying to get the fueling right on my new, old DT125MX. I have used the Haynes manual data sheet main jet, a 130 and adjusted the float height to the recommended 21mm. On the 2nd from top needle notch the engine was bogging down still around 5,000 revs, have gone down to top notch this morning and much better but still slight bogging down so will try a 125 main jet and lowest notch on the needle ( am I doing this right? ). Now that I am able get into the high rev range, couldn't before with the 140 jet fitted it came with, a new problem is occuring. I am only able to sustain short periods of high revs, the engine will die and i will have to wait for what fe…

i bought a full dep system off ebay a few weeks ago , went to fit it today and none of the fixings line up so it cant be the right model for my bike which is a 125 x on a 57 plate, any ideas on when they changed ? id like to know so i can resell it listed correctly , thanks

HI ,I`m trying to figure out if I have the correct ignition switch for my bike(bought off of E-Bay)It is a chrome covered switch,and it has 3 total positions,off 30 degrees to left ,on straight up and a third position 3o degrees to right,I know on 73 and older enduros the headlights were activated by this third position.I do`nt have a manual so Im trying to find out!Also I turn my lights on by sliding switch on left handlebar mount above turn signals! Help!!

I'm getting a XT550 soon, I'm not sure which year it is. The guy I'm getting it from tells me the battery keeps discharging and it can be difficult to start. Could be a bad battery or something draining it - is this common? I'm getting a really good deal on it, so it's a no-brainer decision. I've read a little about them on the Interweb; they seem like decent bikes, not going to win any races or anything, but looks like fun. Is there anything I should look out for?

hi there, i have a yamaha wr 450, 2003. the starter motor has disintegrated inside, do any of you know where i can get a new one from a bit cheeper then the main dealer price? where i have been quoated £317!! i have heard that this is a common fault with this year wr. whould any other yamaha starters fit my bike? many thanks

I'm looking for some new tires for my XT550 (3.00x21 FR, 4.60x18 RR). I don't plan on doing much on road riding, so I'm considering some dirt only tires for max dirt traction. Are there dual purpose tires that are as agressive as dirt tires? I've been looking around online, but the pictures make it kind of difficult to tell how agressive the dual sport tires really are.

well first off i was told it was either or.....Magneto, or CDI box....how do you tell which one to replace...how does either go bad...and what do they do for the bike?.....my bike has a good spark, weak compression...6-10 hrs on the piston, and its carb was recently cleaned...i dont know much about this bike as it was a christmas present and since then we split up so im stuck with an easily fixed bike....anyone out there willin help?? 1998 YZ 80

Is there any clever chaps out there who can shed some light on this problem been out on the old girl today and the rear wheel has developed a CLICKING sound but not all the time have fitted new rear wheel and bearings and shoes/chain/sprockets couple of months ago wont CLICK while on blocks surprise surprise any ideas

hi guys when i switch the ignition on and then press the electric start button it just clicks i have stripped it down and found it is clicking from the coil what does this mean please help
