This bike is 29 years old, I bought it 18 months ago with 2,000km on the clock. It's been running good, the boy has done a further 2,000km on it. Then when on a trip up the highway after about 50km it seized up (while doing about 80 - 90 kmh) So I rebored it and put it back together. I found a mis-fitted gauze in the fuel tap with a build-up of crap behind it. This I summised caused a reduced fuel flow, leaned out hence excessive heat and seizure. I was 100% confident with that theory so sent the boy off to put some miles on it. Next thing, I get a phone call from the roadside, it's seized again - F*%K I said, several times over. He was not experienced enough to…

Does anybody know how many kilometers my dt 400 should go on a tank of gas? I've been doing lot's of mountain riding I live in the the interior of BC. I am only getting about 80 km a tank. Also does high elevation make a difference? I ride, from home, 500 meters above sea level to about 2000 meters in a single ride.

when i got this bike i tore down the top end, only to find the piston in backwards and a very shoty base gasket . after looking closely and picking alot of old gasket material out of the oil journals and transfer ports i reassembled with new base gasket. and it still wont so much as fire. I also cycled through the timing and not a sputter. does anyone know about what these should have for compression.

Hi guys I've got a severe lack of lighting on my XT350, they were working up until recently when both front and tail lights have failed. On this bike the lights only work when the engine is running (the neighbours love me when I'm trying to sort this out, loud pipe and ticking over for hours!!) I've checked the wiring back through the loom for continuity with a multimeter and all is ok and I also tried running a live feed from the battery to the lighting circuit and everything works so traced it back through and there doesn't appear to be any voltage coming from the lighting coil, the manual say's to check the charging coil and i get a reading of 00.4 ohms with the…

I exhausted the search option on the forum, so I hope this isn't a repeat of something someone else has already asked. So, yesterday, I bought a 1978 DT175E in running condition for $350.00. It had been sitting in a garage and hadn't run in 6 years. After a few kicks and with the choke full on, it finally started. But, as you can imagine, it wasn't a happy camper. It had what the guy described a "pretty fresh" 2-cycle oil in the reservoir. I put clean gas in it with some Seafoam. I also dumped the pan oil and replaced it with some fresh dino oil and a little Seafoam in there, too. I also pulled the carb, disassembled it and cleaned all the pilots and j…

Hi, I have a DT125R 2002, which has been fine up until this summer, when it has started to overheat. Now, after about 5 mins riding (or 10 mins with the engine idleing) the temperature gaguge gets near the red mark. Things I have already checked/done: - Changed whole carb from another bike - Changed CDI from another bike - Checked water impeller - 2 stroke oil pump checked (and oil added to tank to double check) - Air filter checked. - Checked for leaks Still it is overheating. Does anyone have any suggestions of something I have missed, or perhaps something that is very likely, that I may need to check again. Thank you for your help, Andus

Hi! I just bought a not running ct 175 as a project. It's all there and not seized, and according to the last owner it needs a magneto. Are these still available? Any help with the new project would be appreciated, tips? Go-fast mods?

  19. Hi guys, i have a 1995 DT125, with a 2003 engine. When i got the bike the PV was pegged open. I have since fitted a YPVS servo. The bike has a full DEP system, and i have trimmed the inlet rubber 'funnel'as shown on DT125.net. The bike pulls really well at higher revs, but seems to be gutless at low revs, i.e. upto approx 6k RPM. The servo appears to working correctly (does cleaning cycle and opens when revved) and i have set it using the guide on DT125.net. Also the bike doesn't like 'cruising' at a constant speed below the 6k RPM mark. The bike is ok all the time i am increasing speed but seems to cough and splutter along the road instead of staying at a constant RPM…
