Hi guys, The sun is shining and I need advice to get me back on the trail. I'm just about to put the top end back together after a rebore. Everything is great but I have noticed that one of the two "spacers" on the right hand barrel studs is missing. Don't know why I didn't notice it before but it must have been missing when I got the bike as I certainly didn't loose it. Can I reassemble the barrel without it ( there is some movement when I put the barrel in place ) or is this part of the reason for the partial seizure that happened before I got the bike. Until I stripped the top end the bike was running quite well, Should I be worried? Thanks in advance for any kno…

So as I mentioned before... I was going to re-spray the bike, not doing the same scheme after all but going for this colour *see bottom of post! (All ordered, plenty of the flip colour as well as base coat and Lacquer!). All lights have been ordered (Polisport), but best bit is... My friend who is a sparky by trade is building me a loom from scratch! (WOOOOT!). Other mods are Hpires Rad scoops. Hpires Tail Piece with an RFX Tail Tidy, YZF 450 / YZ 250 Front mudguard (2010 model). Acerbis fork socks are being ordered next week as is an ASV clutch lever!! So it's coming along rather well now!! I think I'm going to go for gold rims at some point but the amount I've …

Hello, I’ve taken the bait and brought a 1990 (h plate) dt125r with 8k on the clock for a nominal fee. It was dry stored for 14 years and the last tax disk (still attached) was in 1996. However it needs work on it to look presentable and to go for an mot. So far I think I need: Front & rear tyre Chain & sprocket Oil Brake pipes Brake fluid Probably pads - front/rear Battery Spark plug Seat cover Clutch lever 2x mirrors Oh and a rear indicator - I snapped it pushing it into my garden - the callipers are tight. The intention is to strip the bike and bring it back to a presentable standard but not concourse standard. This is where I need your…

Hi, my DT 125 lc MK2 blew up yesterday, so naturally i took the barrel off to noticed that the top of the piston had melted, not too much of a problem as it's an easy repair. but i've noticed that the bottom end of the engine is a MK2 engine (the square one without ypvs) and the barrel is a MK3 (Round with a powervalve) and that they aren't designed to go together as the water cooling channels are on the opposite side of the engine, someone has bodged the 2 parts together using silicon rubber and blocking up the water channels!! what should i do? i have found a set of engines on ebay ebay link i could put it back to how it's supposed to be without a powervalve…

Hi, I know similar questions get asked pretty regularly, but I'm hoping someone can help me pin-down the ages of my two bikes (a TTR250 and an XT225). The log books give a "declared date of manufacture", as they are greys, but I'm not sure these are totally reliable (I know they should be but...). I've got a couple of answers from t'internet, but I'd welcome a second opinion! The frame numbers are 4GY-0002xx and 4JG-1652xx (I do have the whole numbers, but a bit scared of publishing them, sorry!). Thanks chaps ! Bernie

Hi, I have a Lanza DT 230 which I think is a 1996 from Japan. I can't find much info about it online and I am having problems with my plugs staying clean more than a few days and there is quite a bit of smoke. Someone recommended disconnecting the oil reserve and mixing it myself in the tank. I don't really want to do that. Can I adjust something or is it just the life of a 2 stroke? Thanks

At the Scottish Motorbike Show today, sat on a Tenere and thinking this is just right for me (also entered the competition to win one) and a salesman claimed with light use of the throttle you can get 100mpg. Is that true?

Hi! Anybody have any idea why the BREATHER SKU: 583-15371-00-00, hose SKU: 90445-07040-00 (L510)and clamp SKU: 90465-10096-00 seem to be missing on 1978 YAMAHA DT 400s? There is a provision on the magneto cover where the breather would go but there is no hole their! I checked out some close up pictures of other 1978 Yamaha dt 400s and it is the same as mine. If you check the parts diagram at http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx it is supposed to be their. I am not sure if all 1978 dt 400s do not have it or just some. I believe it lets moiture escape due to condensation from the stator/magneto compartment. I just wanted to see if anybody…

Got a question about the oil pump on a '78 DT175. If the oil tank were located lower than the pump will it suck the oil up or is it strickly a push pump? I'm building a street trike andwish to install an oil tank farther back and lower under the solo seat I've built. the tank top would be about even with the inlet to the pump as far as height goes so it would need to pump up a 6-8 inch incline max. Thanks for your time guys My link
