    Hey guys, just bought myself a 1989 DT125 and am searching for info on the bike, what can/cant be done to it, what fluids to use etc. Anyone know what the suffix for this bike would be, ie: LC, R etc cheers in advance for help

  2. I just picked up a pretty clean 1988 DT50 and I am looking to change the ignition so that I can run 12v lights (and hopefully get some more revs with an internal rotor). I found an ignition and it is compatible with the Minarelli AM6 motor. Does my 1988 have that motor? I am in the US and from what I can tell these bikes were only imported from 1988-1990. After 9,892,021 google searches I think the AM6 was used on the DT50 R and not my bike. Is this true? Does anyone know a good ignition that I can use on my 1988 DT50 (US)??? thanks

    hi guys i have a dt50mx 1989 which has started running badly it will tick over all day but as soon as you started to rev it up, it will start cutting out and back firing. i have done a compression test it it said 150psi don't know what it should be? took the carb off and cleaned it out one of the jets where blocked i cleared the blockage still no joy. it has one of those k&n air filters onthis probly isn't helping, trying to get hold of the original airbox. any suggestions thanks

    Hi everyone! I'm new on this forum, but I am part of a few others so I know my way around a little. Anyway I got a 1974 MX250 a while back and it wasn't running when I got it. I have it stripped down, frame and engine re-painted and put pack together but now I'm trying to get it to run. The problem I'm having is I have the inner rotor type ignition system, which requires an 8 wire CDI, but the CDI on the bike is for the outer rotor system which only has 7 wires. I've read time and time again that you can make them work just by grounding the extra lead off the ignition, but the wiring has been messed with so much that I can't tell what's supposed to go where.     almost at the end of the easy bit (stripping bike down) hoping to bring it back to its former glory the clock bodies are in need of re chroming can any one tell me if they come apart. have removed screws on back but to no avail or are they sealed and should i be loking for replacements if so i would be interested in any for sale

    hi ppl jst wondering if any one has any tips about the athena 170 kits, been thinking bout geting one for my dtre there prity expensive though, a dt/rd fanatic m8 said that wen u put the 170 kit on ur alot better geting a 170 crank/conrod aswell or a uprated/heavey duty 125 one to cope with the biggerload and make it more reliable, what do us make of that is it true or alot of dribble also any info on the 170 kit would b gr8ly appreciated lol like cheap places to buy one thanks daz milne

    I’m interested to know if anyone has experience of completely striping the DT engine and rebuilding it? What parts are needed and where they can be sourced? The engine (when I bought the bike) seemed to be running okay (rode home approx 15 miles with no problems) and I was told it had new main bearings and a re-bore only a couple of thousand miles ago. The bike has approx 24,000 miles on it and has been used on and off for the last 19 years. Should I leave it alone if it’s running okay or would there be some benefit in a full rebuild? From what I can gather there’s unlikely to be much (if any) performance increase but would there be some possible reliability benefi…

    hi!! just bought a dtr125 2003. there's no pattern just does it as and when it likes, some times when pulling away or when your in 3rd gear reaching 8rpm! always random, the previous owner did say it hasn't been serviced for a while. so tomorrow i'll give her a full serivce! it also has a aftermarket exhuast on it, so would i need to check that it's jetting ok? but surely the previous owner would of sorted this as it's been owned by the guy from new! and by the looks of the exhuast it's been on there a few years! thanks josh

    hi i have been reliving my youth by buying bikes i used to have back in the day my recently purchased dt runs a bit bit funny ive had it a few weeks but have been concentrating on paint work now thats finished its time to get it running right i have not tried to sort it yet but thought id ask for a few opinions before i start first off it wont idle second its bogs down a bit when you rev it at higher revs its very crisp but the revs drop down slowly as if your closing the throttle slowly on the move it does go very well tho anyone got any ideas or suggestions before i pull the carb to bits cheers bry

    hi my water pump oil seal was leaking and whilst riding there was some clutch slip but the oil was like milk i have changed the seal and i fired some 5w30 semi car oil in and it slips like fook now. but ive heard car oil is ok but im guessing not what would be the best oil to use and do we think my clutch is nackered now? cheers bry

    I have a TT600E 96/97 model engine which I built into a XT600 Tenere frame . The TT engine is a 4GV . I am having a hell of a time finding an ignition switch for this bike . The wiring diagram has a blue , red , brown and blue/red wire coming from it .I bought just the engine and electrics off a guy 6 years ago so I have no idea what the bike model was except that is a TT600 Belgarda .Does anyone have an idea what the part number is for this bike's ignition or another that would be compatible .The bike is electric start by the way .And a link to a parts fiche would be super too .

    hi after changing my water pump seal i have now noticed it warming up quickly and then shooting up towards the red is there any knack to bleeding the system or may i have a sticky thermostat i will be having another look at it at the weekend just wondered if anyone could give me a heads up before i take it apart yet again im dying to get it in for its mot nearly there now cheers bry

    Hi guys, Sorry I havn't been on here in a while, i started a new job and it all got hectic! I've recently purchased an old Yamaha WR200 enduro. I've been told it's been bored out to a 250 but I've yet to open up the engine as it seems to have compresssion and turns nicely so will get it running before i do so. I was wondering if anyone on here knew much about them? I remember seeing a thread about them a while back but there wasnt much response. I'm planning to restore it and possibly make it road legal.     I have just returned from a trip over Europe to landeck in austria just beside innsbruck 3000 miles in 6 days. I herd of people taking long trips on the xt660r but never did myself,My friend had a bmw1200gs and the yam kept up not only at speed but returned very good mpg at speeds on mororways of 90mph no problem,it had done 9000 before the trip and never used any oil during the trip the only thing i did was lubricated the chain.     hi all, i have recently bought a dt125lc mk3 in blue/yellow for my son, all that i know about the bike is it has never been regitered before as its been used as a farm bike, its all still intact and apart from no rear indicators cant see why wouldnt go through an mot, my main questions are, 1)does anybody know how i would go about registering this bike on the road as dont know exact year of manufacture, and if its an import do i need import papers(im only thinking its an import as speedo reading in kph), 2) the bike has gold wheels and ive never seen one of these with gold wheels before, are they common? any help or advise would be great, thanks.
