Hi, I'm new to the forum. Until now I've beem fiddling about with my Honda CT90. Today I was at the recycle shop at the local rubbish tip and picked up a Yamaha 80 off road bike for $40. I took it to be a YZ 80 but on checking up the engine number (367-65XXXXX) on the net it appears it is a GTMX 80. Can anyone enlighten me on the year and what is the difference between the GTMX and YZ as they seem to have been made concurrently. Are there any common parts as there seems to be plenty of parts for the YZ around? It is complete except for fuel tank, gear lever, seat and the round plate on the LHS which shows a plate with an electrical coil but I assume the magneto? is …

I have a DT175 from '74 that I recently bought for $50. It does NOT have a title. (May be able to get one, but I had it for a parts bike for my titled 1972 125 AT2). Problems: Lights/gauges/blinkers are mostly removed/smashed. No chain - Wasn't there No back break (the cable at least) No seat mounting pieces/hardware The break and seat parts I took off for my AT2. The engine does turn over, and I believe it is complete. Doesn't look too great, but I have some spare new parts for the AT2 from the previous owner that may also work for it. I will use it for ONLY offroad, not road use. So the lights/key-ignition/blinkers/speedo don't matter to me. Is it w…

HI! I have got a little problem with my DT175, the battery seems to discharge itselfe, so i have to charge it about once og twice a week I have tried meassuring the voltage coming out of the + and - from the wirering harness, without the battery on, and it says 14,6-15V, which is (according to the maunal) okay. Anyone who knows what the problem might be ? The battery is quite new, got it just before winter, but it saddly got left out a few weeks in the frost. Thanks!

I just picked her up this past weekend. Needs to be rebuilt and what not. was wondering what tank upgrades i can get for it? Since i plan on riding her for a while to save money on fuel, but the tank with it is very tiny. I was thinking of putting a 7L Honda tank onto it. Or would this not work? I'm new to the whole rebuilding of bikes but am a quick learner so this should be fun . if anyone has links to helpful info or tips that would be helpful

I am new to this. We are rebuilding two 1982 mx 80 bikes. Found everything except the front tires. I am in Canada and Canada does not have these tires available. Does anyone know where I can order from that will ship to Canada? Any information or leads to site would be greatly appreciated. The bikes are turning out amazingly. Thanks for any and all help.

Hi, I'm coming to the conclusion that 74, 75, & 76 Yamaha DT fuel tanks (175 in particular) are NOT interchangeable. Lets find out shall we. If you would indulge me, please measure your 74, 75 or 76 DT fuel tank from the centerline of the forward mounting ears to the centerline of the rear mounting hole. Mine measures 17.75 inches. Mine is could be a 75, I'm not positive. What does yours measure?? Thanks Bill

Hi all, I have a 86 TT225 that is in poor shape. I bought as a project for 50.00 on Craigslist. Its all there exept for some minot parts. The kick shaft is most concerning as it is rounded off and not functional. I have not been able to find a replacement shaft. I'm looking for opinions, part this think out on Ebay? Or make a go of it? I have restored a 1991 CBR1000f, 1971 Rokon 2 wheel drive, and a 95 CBR 600. I have the knowledge to do the job, just not sure of the machine and if its worth it to do the project. Thanks! hi all, a couple weeks back i had a major case of misjudging a puddle ( more like a pond) and found my bike quickly submerged . And the exhaust filed up with water. Anyway after 30mins of trying to get it back started and heaps of water flushing out the back the exhaust sounded terrible!. It is a DEP exhaust so i expected it to sound kinda tinny but now its really loud and sound completely different, whats happened?? G

Hi all, the bike is back out in the garden and being fixed and renovated ready for what will probably be more disasterous green laning antics. I registered back in july being an absolute noob with a cbt in the world of biking and was playing around etc with my dt125 for some laning fun. Now however i have done my theory and have booked my D.A.S in april easter bank holidays so finegrs crossed for that . Since then me my friend ( who brought a DT, which was last month stolen) and my dad who brought a rmx250 ( with his fancy pants full license) , have been out on several green laning sessions around east hampshire . So today on my day off i have been …

Hi I restored a DT from a pile of junk to quite a looker, to the extent is was too good to take off road. Sort of defeated the object really, but anyway, have just sold it. So first of all, thanks to Airhead amongst others for technical advice when asked for. Secondly I put it on ebay at £1250 buy it now, and it went in under 4 minutes, so although I've cleared a bit of profit which was never intended, it looks like prices are buoyant. Cheers and au revoir Lee

hello my DT125R has a few problems 1. won't idle with choke off, and sometime seems to stutter a small amount while accelerating from standstill but is fine once its at higher revs.. 2. it has a slight rattling noise coming from the engine, but it is neither small end bearing or big end bearing from what i could tell, when i checked them. and it has had this rattling noise for about 5 months now and if it was a bearing surely it would of been nackered by now. any help is appreciated thank you.

Hi, I have been restoring the bike for about 6 months now and its nearly all together, i put the new battery in and tried the electrics... the good news is it has a good spark the side light works on the second click of the key and the back light works! But no headlight no ignition light no neutral light and the horn dosn't work.. ..I havn't tried to start the bike yet as i want to get the electrics right first. I will try to put a photo on here soon. If anyone has any advice as to what the problem could be it would be greatly apreciated.

Hi, need a bit of advice about the square junction box on the throttle cable. Where the oil pump cable and the carb cable meet, there is a white round plastic housing. Is that round housing supposed to be able to rotate? My one gradually gets pulled in one direction, so that eventually the bike won’t tick over below 2500rpm, because the cable is being pulled tighter. The Haynes manual doesn’t appear to help, so wonder if anyone here has had this happen. Cheers Lee
