Hi all, I'm looking to speak to a few DT125LC restorers for a feature in Practical Sports Bikes magazine. It would involve a chat on the phone and a high res pic of you and your bike to go with your words of wisdom. If you'd be up for helping, you can contact me via a pm on the forum, by email at [email protected] or on 07875 736021. Many thanks for any help you can give. All the best, Gez Kane, Practical Sports Bikes

Picked up this bike yesterday. I think it's a 1977 XS500 but can't find a way to be sure. Serial number on the frame and the engine start with 583 xxxxxx. Any help would be appreciated.

So ive bought another, not quite as old nail. It needs a few bits doing but it was cheap. First concern is the clutch, you pull it in to select 1st no problem. But when you let it out theres no modulation, no halfway, instant engagement. Ok so with a little practice there is a way of slipping the clutch, but its still too abrupt for the slow bits off road I anticipate!! Any ideas? The clutch doesnt bind at all. Cheers in advance. Ed

What's goin on guys, Im looking at a '72 LT2 locally with 1500 miles on it, guy wants $600 for it. There seems to be little to nothing about these bikes as far as specs etc, so I wanted to know what you guys think? It seems to have little to no rust and is complete. He claims the bike was running a year ago but has since been parked so its gonna need a new battery and a carb cleaning. I hate buying non running bikes. So, what should I expect from this little bike? I have a degree in auto-engineering and have built 2 strokes from the ground up before. Im dying to get on an older enduro they look like a blast. In addition, im almost 200 lbs... Im definately not gon…

Hello forum, I have just fitted an arrow exhaust to my sons 2007 xt 125, I have not removed any thing but the complete system. I had trouble starting it but this has been adjusted by the small brass screw on the right side of the carb, (looking forward) I set it to tick over at 1300 rpm but when i turn the throttle it bogs and cuts out if i don’t come off the throttle. Increases the tick over to 1500 /1550 now the bog is very slight with a quick throttle, slow twist and a bit of slip and off it goes. Seems to pull well up around 8000 rpm with good pick up but there is a slight back fire, big pop. It sounds nice but not sure if it will do any damage. I can’t find the ai…

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum and have just started work on a 1979 DT250MX. I've had it in the garage for 14 years and it ran fine at that point but had a badly slipping clutch. A friend stripped the clutch down but couldn't fix it so it was left. I have now decided to re-commission it and have ordered new clutch plates and gaskets for it. I have a couple of questions though: 1. Can anyone tell me if all DT250 oil pump covers will fit or was the MX different? It has gone missing in the 14 yrs since I laid it up. 2. Are the dowels that go in the clutch side crank casing available new or are there other models dowels that will fit (I think there are a couple of th…

Evening all. Im new here. I ride a WR125R with a few mods. Use it for green lanes and offroad playing. Im in desperate need of the front and rear wheel bearings. All i can find on the net is the front bearings, nothing for rear. Ive looked through endless google pages but can't find any part numbers or dimensions. So ANY help at all would be brilliant, could do with sorting it before saturdays outing. Cheers Paddy

Hello, My friend is offering me a 1982 Yamaha DT 125 for £150 but there are a few things wrong with it. -The wiring needs to be put on. -The sprockets and chain aren't attached. However he does say the gears are fine and there is high compression. I was just wondering would it be worth £150 and what else should I look out for? Also does it sound like it would be a fairly easy job to get it going again? Heres a link to the picture:http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1660407521874&set=t.1155507960&type=3&theater Thanks, Ollie.

Having never torn a 2stroke apart I've got a question regarding the piston. When the reed valve is removed and you look down the intake port, how far should the piston descend past the port. Right now it appears that the piston doesn't go below the intake port at all. This would explain why I don't seem to be getting any fuel to the cylinder. I'm not sure how it could be possible for the piston to not descend far enough but it seems to be the case. If someone has a pic of the intake manifold with the piston fully descended that would be appreciated.

I bought a cheap DT125MX from EBAY 2 years ago, with the intention of refurbishing it, and putting it back on the road. I've had a few yamaha's, DTR125, RD125LC, TZR250, and my current ride which is a '93 FZR600. I always wanted a DT125MX when I was a teenager, but went down the path of driving lessons, car etc, and whilst learning to drive I ended up with loads of 100's.... I am now at the stage where the DT is stripped, and my first project is to rebuild the top end. I've checked the con rod, and the bottom end, and it is sound, and I am therefore not looking to split the crankcases. I am however going to explore the age old myth of swapping the 125 barrel for the …

Hi, I am rebuilding a 78 dt..I have three front wheels and when i fit them they are all off center, ie the distance from rim to the fork is bigger on the brake side! Surely the wheel should be in the middle of the forks, can anyone confirm this. Thanks Pete.

Hi all, I'm just getting ready to rebuild my LC3, and I'm not sure what bearings/bushed I need for the swing arm? I compared it the DTR roller bearings and bushes, but they're too big. Should I be getting the top hat style plastic bushes that are all over eBay, or do I need the DTR style roller bearings?? Can anyone help? Ta, Lewis
