I am needing some spares for my XT at the moment chain, sprockets etc but I am trying to date it so I can get the right bits. I have the Clymer manual for it which gives the codes for frame numbers to date it but I am not having much luck ! All I can find is the metal plate at the side of the headstock with numbers and letters. The logbook is nt much use as it seems the bike was registered later, I am guessing its an import as the clock is kph not mph. Any ideas ?

I recently acquired a 74 DT175(A?). I have a Clymer Manual which is maddenly evasive in stating the proper float level height for this carb. The Float Level table in Clymer page 86 only shows info for these models: GT Series, YZ80a, DT100A, MX100A, AT1 series (and MX), AT2, AT3, AT2-MX, ATMX, DT125A, MX125A, YZ100C, YZ125A, CT1 series, CT2, CT3, DT125A, MX175A Is DT175A the correct designation for 1974 and could it be equivalent to AT2 or CT2 or CT3? Thanks!

Hi everyone, I use mineral oil in my dt125 , i am hearing mixed reports on this over a synthetic, what is everyones opinion of it and how strongly ? Also i am looking to do some touch ups on the silver swing arm and black frame but for the life of me i cant find any paint codes or places that sell it. Preferably id like paint on paint , rather than spray cause its just touching up. Anyone know where or how i can get these?

Been out a couple of times for group rides with lads on much newer bigger four strokes, and could not help feel the old dt was getting a pasting. Inevitably ill end up buying a WR soon enough, but would like to still use the DT as it was intended. Wanting to keep things as standard as possible, what can be done to improve the off road capability? And as for tyres I struggled to get any modern 4 inch enduro tyres to fit with out the outer knobs fouling, so ended up with a very soft michelin trials in the back for mot purposes. Admittedly it does look the part, but wont last long on tarmac! What tyres come recommended for greenlaning with a medium dose of tarmac?

Rebuilding the engine on my dt, delved into my big box of spares and the barrel I had had different sized reeds in it to the one on the bike. And the inlet rubbers are only compatible with the larger reeds as they have a section of rubber that pretrudes into the reed block. The block is taller, wider, and deeper. The opening. Between the carb and reeds is also a different size, hence why the rubbers are not compatible. Which is standard? Could it be from a different year or a 125? And if the ones im using are not standard, in guessing ill need a bigger jet?

hi did not expect response so quick thanks i have change front and rear wheel bearings /seals/ brake pads/cush drives/bearing and seal in sprocket carrier and tyres as per normal service oil change adjusted clutch bottom of cable and top the free play is with the bike in gear and rear wheel off the ground with the chain adjusted as per spec when you turn the rear wheel back and forward there is about on link on the chain of movement before the wheel locks up the small sprocket is tight on the shaft as the lock nut and shaft move at the same time so the free play seems to be internal i am on holiday from monday so might not have time to strip it for a week ps i i pu…

Ok so the old girl failed the mot today on a couple bits, including the rear shock having sod all damping (thought it was bit soft!) and the bearing at the bottom having excessive play. Been looking for a replacement, but cant get a definative answer on whether the later DT125RE shock fits? loads on ebay for pennies, and they look identical, but not sure if its gonna fit and work right. Anyone know of any other bikes that share the DT125R's rear shock, or that will bolt straight on? not interested in changing the swingarm etc unless i absolutely have to!
