Hi Guys This may be a stupid question but this is my first bike so I’m new to all this lol. Is there anything to check on a weekly or monthly basis on the bike?, i mean I know like a car you should check the brakes, tyre pressure, brake fluid etc. but what about the chain and the engine?. When i brought the bike the owner (motorbike dealership) gave it a service, but i was wondering if any of you guys check things weekly? Or what i should look out for? Cheers And again apologies if this is a dumb post

Last year, when I would start the bike, it would hemorrhage gas out the back end...or so we thought. This year, before really getting it running, we checked the oil, and it was way overfilled. Turned out, it was filled with gas. I changed the oil, and for a while, it was doing excellent. Now, it's starting to leak oil in the same spot, but not quite hemorrhaging. And it only leaks when it gets running. Can't find the problem description in the manuals, and I'm no mechanic, so I need to know what part to check and what to look for. We cleaned the carbs twice, but not entirely sure we knew what to look for. Problem number two: the gas line leaks. Changed the hose recentl…

Hey everyone, I've been looking into getting a bike for quite sometime now. I finally ended up winning one on eBay- http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110532982765&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT It's a 2008 R6s with 7500 miles for $4150. I'm assuming this is a good deal, right? I'll have to pay around $1000 for shipping since I live in Canada and it's in the US. I realize a 600cc bike isn't the greatest starting bike in the world, but I do consider myself mature and smart enough to not pull some stupid ••••. I will also be taking a riding course. Anyways.. I'm wondering if this is a good deal? Also, what brand riding gear would you all recommend? Th…

I thought it was a bad joke when Yamaha hiked their bike prices this year (R6 from £7999 to £8999, R1 from £10999 to £12499 etc.) Then once you've shelled out for the bike I could hardly believe how much Yamaha charge for their aftermarket parts and accessories... £140 for a new screen (R1), £165 for a plastic rear seat cowl (R1 and R6), £55 for a pair of rear pillion peg covers (R6). I've found myself looking on eBay for parts but it seems its hard to find decent genuine kit. There are a couple of genuine seat cowls up for sale each month, and there's a set of rear pillion peg covers for good money, but on the whole it looks like there's no option than to buy afterma…

Hi All, As im sure you will all be able to see Im new to the site so hello :-), I have some questions about my newly aquired FZR 400, Firstly I have the two round headlights but I would like to convert to a more aggresive style and go with a single headlight, Is there an easy conversion that can be done as just the headlight or do I need a whole new fairing conversion? Next up is what is all this numbering after the bike name like 3TJ etc? And how do I know which model is mine? Next, Are the rear wheels all interchangeable accross the Fzr 400 range or do different years/types have different wheels? Next just out of interest what is 'Deltabox'? Can more aggresi…

Hello All I've been riding a Honda CBF125 for the last year after doing my CBT, but i went yesterday and bought a 2007 Yamaha R6 R46, then booked my theory test. My question is what extra lessons or training would you recommend? I will hopefully have passed both my bike tests by the end of the month as thats when my insurance starts any advice would be helpful

Hi, I'm new to this site. I have a 2008 MT03 which I love to pieces as well as three other bikes. I'm an experienced biker but the world's worst mechanic. (I once changed the pads on an NC30, managed to break a disc bolt - £3.49 for a new one! - and then forgot to pump the brakes when I rode it; after fitting the new disc bolt of course. Luckily I hadn't touched the rear brake so was able to come to a halt at the junction with the main road ourside the block I live in! ) I managed to crack the 'stem' of the o/s rear indicator on my MT03 due to the lack of space in my garage. I've got a new one and want to fit it myself as the Yamaha dealers in my area leave a lot to be…

Hey everyone, new to the forum. I got on hoping to maybe get some experienced advice on what I should be looking at for my next bike. I've been riding my '07 FZ6 for about 2 years during the summers. I love the bike but I've been considering going the sport bike route. A little history, I grew up in Oklahoma and have been riding dirt bikes since I was 12. But just a couple years ago starting riding on the street. I decided to start on the FZ6 because of its comfortable riding position. And I've had a blast riding route66 around my home. Honestly I'm not completely sold on if I should get a new bike or not. But I'm 25 now, and I've moved to westchester, NY for my job. I…

So, I recently picked up a nice little 82 Seca 400. Good shape, fun little ride, but it's kinda' quiet. I'd like to put some mufflers on there that will give me a little more noise. I'm not really looking for any performance increase, mainly because I don't feel like rejetting and everything else - I just want it to be a little, or a lot, louder. Any suggestions?

Thanks for all your comments i will do my best to answer all info! When i first got the bike i had to change the battery as it wouldnt hold a charge. after this it was ok for a few months but then in the cold weather it wouldnt start from cold. thought it was just bad winter cos it stopped a few times but was able to get it going alright. Eventually it wouldnt start anymore. As it stands now i still cant bump start it. When the key is in the ignition and starter button is pressed the starter motor turns over but no spark is going to coils - just makes whirring sound. Mechanic kept trying one thing after another buying parts saying this could be the problem..... repla…
