So here's the deal. My brother in law is starting out and wanted my advice about what bike. I thought long and hard and then told him the choice is between the CBF125 and the YBR125 so see which of those you end up doing your CBT on and go from there. He did it on the YBR and liked it so he's going with that. My question to YBR owners is what are the best mods to keep a YBR working right through the year on an 18mile commute? Any particular parts that users have thought were partricularly good? Thanks in advance. Whythedevilnot

hey folks, I've been reading up on rubber and there are so many choices that its almost impossible to narrow anything down. Maybe you folks with Seca's and Diversions can help me out. I do a lot of touring in the area (San Diego) and of course the bike is my transportation to and from work. I need something that a little sticky, but wears well. What do you recommend, what have you used, what do you abhor? Thanks ahead of time.

Hi, Im about to get a new yam r6 2010. The guy in the dealership is saying 500 miles no more than 6000 revs then oil change to break it in. A friend at work reckons hammer it else it wont brake in properly. I found this website, http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm I am confused between manufactuers instructions and experianced mechanics. My brain says follow motomans advice, I would like to see what you guys think and if any one has had any experainces that might help me out. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Luke

hi everyone, im ricky i live in dunstable (luton) and own a XJ 600 bike, which im having alot of trouble with. i got the bike as a non runner, after it sat doing nothing for about 10yrs, after alot of messing around and help from friends, i got it running ,but it was only running on what seemed like 2 cylinders (instead of 4). i took my girlfriend to her friends house and left the bike outside, while i left it outside it rained and when i returned to the bike it would not start, it just sounded like the cylinder underneath the fuse box was just spinning, once i had bump starter the bike (with alot of struggle) i took my girlfriend home and upon arrival at her house the bi…

New to the forum and looking for a little input. Getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on an 06' Strat S with 8600 miles on it from a dealer. Previous owner put pipes and just about every piece of add-on chrome.(engine guards, bag guards, running lights). The bike is very clean exceptfor the windshield that has several gouges in the plastic and chrome. (I plan on replacing it). Is there anything specific I should check out prior to purchase? I have been reading about this bike for about the last month or so and seems like a great ride. No service history so I would change engine oil right off the bat. Thanks for any suggestions. Marty

My YZF 600 (1994) is being put away for the winter, approx 2 months, i want to turn the fuel off and drain the carbs to stop any potential problems that may occur later. Can any one tell me where i can locate the fuel shut off valve on this bike, I dont even know if it has one... Failing this , can you tell me what other options are available Thanks Z.

Hi all This is my first major question for the world of yamaha owners... I just bought a xj6, 1992, and am going to put some new tires on her... But I'm kinda at a lost of where to go tire shopping... I've only had cars and America's Tire has been my old stand by for tire's. They dont' do bike's however so now I'm unsure of where to go or look for tires. I've got a cyclegear close and have looked there, dennis kirk too. But I'm unsure as to what would be a "good" tire, vs a bad one. what would be good for my riding style and weight... ((Cruising on country roads, not commuting on a highway or city traffic as much as I can avoid it, weigh 200lbs)) So any advice, w…

Hi everyone, Had my WR125 X 2011 for about a week and a half now. got 400 miles on the clock so just over halfway through the running in period. BUT... last night I started having some trouble with my gearbox, specifiaclly when changing down after coasting to a stop at traffic lights. The shifter would move down but no gears would change. I also noticed that the gears do seem quite clunky. Any ideas? Cheers

Sorry but although I posted about this before its still bothering me a little. Its going in for its first service soon but I don't want to be fobbed off. My XJ6 runs fine, pulls very well and never misses a beat. But I have noticed that when pulling away or low speeds in first or second I can hear a whitsling/whine noise (between 2000 to 3000 rpm). If you increase the revs its goes. If I pull the clutch in it goes. When the bike is on the stand i can hold the throttle at a rev range and hear the noise. Can't exactly hear where its coming from, could be the cams or is it the air induction, whistling the air in or possiblly the transmission. I have seen on forum…

Hi, I have posted over the last few days about an engine noise on my XJ6 . Today I have found out this from the clutch cover area. It's only first and second gear and only when pulling away or low speed. I think it is a normal transmission wine. But being inexperienced I think I am looking for problems which aren't there. A bit paranoid as the bike is new. Thanks to those who have replied. Arthur

  17. Well, it looks like it! But I don't want to wade in and start removing screws and have something fall down inside! Can anyone shed any light on this?

Hi, I previously posted a topic about XJ6 engine noise. Thanks for the replies. Today I rode about 80 miles. I noticed that once warm and pulling around 2000 revs in first or second I hear a slight winning noise. No knocking etc just a progressive wine. Is this normal. I haven't had such a new bike before and don't know what to expect. Probably talking rubbish. Any thoughts? Cheers Arthur

Hi, I have a 2010 XJ6 naked. Its done about 450 miles but I have found 2 things. Firstly after a ride of about 40 miles i find a small oil drip at the bottom of the coolant pump. I think it is coming from where the pump enters the engine. The pump did sound a little noisey when the bike warmed up on tick over the other day. Also when I let the bike warm up on the stand I get a slight engine noise / rattle for a very short period of time. It always happens when the temp gauge is about 47 to 50 degrees. Oh and the manual is a bit unclear about chain slack. The 45 to 55 mm amount shown deosn't say if its when the chain is pulled down and up measured between the …

Hello guys and gals, I know this sounds like a slightly boring question - but what would you expect a xj6's mpg in town to be? I mainly drive in London and commute to the center of town, so obviously a lot of stop start and slow driving... Over the last month or so it's slowly been declining to about 30 mpg or so now - And it's not as if I'm revving at the lights or anything, honest! Anyone else out there I can compare mpg's with? On the couple of occasions I've traveled on the motorway it's picked up a couple more miles to the gallon (a bit over 40),but nothing close to reported 50 mpg it should be able to do (I've even seen reports higher than that). J…
