Whats the reason we have a pipe going from the throttle body into the air box. What would happen if i just put a cone filter on there and put a filter on the engine breather pipe.

Hello there, I'm pretty new to the motorcycle build/rebuilding scene and i was just wondering if anyone out there had some knowledge on the 1986 FZ6. I've been riding for like 6 years now however i never really had the chance of tearing down and rebuilding a bike till now. Current project is making a 1986 FZ6 into a track bike for some of the local tracks in Wisconsin, till i get some experience and then upgrading later down the road. I got it free, it is missing quite a few peices (none too essential like plastics) but it does had a wire mess going on. It also has stage 7 jets and a kerker header with no can. If anyone has any tips on building one of these guys up …

Hi there, I'm looking to build a custom bike using a FJ 1200 power plant, but I'm not entirely sure on the engines dimensions, and seem unable to find them on the net. What I really need is centreline of the engine to sprocket measurement to make sure the chain will run without hitting anything on its route. Thanks alot to anyone who can help, it will be much appreciated.

Thinking of buying a low mileage Fazer FZ1,what should I look for? Are there any problems ? What will they do to the gallon and tank range. Thanks John

Realise that these are old bikes - are there any other owners, mine cost £550 18 mths ago, spent about that amount on it again, brakes/chain/service/starter; now very pleased with it, 6K miles so far -budget biker.

Hey folks, Got through my DAS and scratching about for a 'big' bike. Had been looking at a newish XJ6 Divi but have seen a couple of older bikes and thinking it might be a decent idea to bop about on something like those rather than a newer bike until I have more miles under me Two bikes that have caught my eye are a 98 XJ600N (10k miles) and a 2003 R6 also with 10k miles. Questions I have are: 1. I know the feel of the XJ6 (did part of my DAS on slightly newer version) but have never riden R6 ... is the R6 a bit ambitious as a first 'big' bike? From reading about it it is rather more of a sports bike than the sports/tourer XJ but dont know how th…

Hey guys, Recently my YBR125 has started making a very loud & unsettling click/clunk noise when I apply the rear brake - it brakes fine but pretty much jolts the entire rear end! Anyone know what could be causing this? Thanks in advanced!

So after picking up my new (to me) pride and joy I made the school boy error of dropping it whilst turning around in a tight spot at walking pace. Over balanced and cracked right indicator and bent brake lever. Nothing new with that. Most have, or will do the same at some point? Just a word of advice though. When picking up a bike from a right side drop - put the side stand down to avoid chucking it over the other way! Not a happy man but was toying with the idea of putting back levers on anyway - decision made!

Can someone explain why I am having such a hard time finding a 4 into 2 exhaust replacement for my 83 XJ750M ? I've been to dozens of online stores and all I can find is 4 into 1. The only problem with the 83 Midnight Maxim I just bought is it needs a new exhaust. Is this why I got it so cheap? other than the exhaust it looks and runs like new.

Firstly apologies for using the title to introduce culture to the forum Continuing my stream of newbie questions - I am down to 2 bikes for my first 'big' bike. Barring a bit of difference in the toys and a few k in mileage the difference between the bikes is that one has ABS. Especially as this is my first big bike is the ABS worth a couple of hundred extra? I am aware of the use of ABS generally, albeit on cars (am I allowed to use the 'c' word on the forum?) but am not sure how valuable it is generally. Both bikes are relatvely young and still have some Yamaha warranty so not concerned about being able to spot a defect with the ABS. Any comments or a…

Looking at a first big bike (Divi/Fazer type) ... Comparing bikes I have seen quite a few with varying 'protection'. My question is, is there a noticable difference between engine bars and crash bungs. I'm not intending to prang the bike (little bike [YBR] did blow over in the gales!) but curious as to opinions on whether one is noticably better as an option to the other. Thanks

Had been looking at Divi's for a first big bike however have ended up looking at a couple of 600 Fazers (a 98 and a 2002). Anyone have any comments on a Fazer as a first 'big' bike? Have read a bit about the differences which seem, on the surface, to boil down to the Divi being a bit more forgiving and the Fazer being a bit more potentially lively. Assuming I am ok with the Divi (and an MT-03 from my DAS (though didn't like the throttle on the MT-03)) is the Fazer much of an adjustment? Need to go read up on the difference between a 98 and 2002 bike but if anyone has any general pointers that would also be helpful. Thanks

I'm new here and I'm sure this topic ha been covered but I can't find it. Please help. 2006 R1 24000 miles My bike was began to have trouble starting. It would crank, lights would cut out, clicking sound and it sounded like the battery died. I replaced with a new battery and the same thing happened. Then I jumped the battery with a car battery, Bike started and then started several times thereafter. Now the bike will not start. Even after charging with a trickle charger. Could it be my starter? Starter relay ot just a bad battery. Both batteries are gel batteries. I'm hoping that the gel batteries just suck. Please help.

Recently MOT'd my XJ600N and to my shock ( haha!) the tires were on the limit. Anyone in the area recommend best place to get new ones ? i was thinking about Bridgestone BT 45's but maybee settle for something a bitty cheaper in this cold, miserable, money tight times . . mind you . . could allways just forget the girlfriends valentines present . . . Got a quote for £152 for Pirelli's . . guy said speed demons, but im thinking 152's a bit cheep for them ? Cheers Matthew

Having just passed my DAS (there goes the neighbourhood folks ) I am looking at sourcing a 'big' bike. I did my DAS on a combination of an XJ6 and an MT03. Can't say I loved the MT03 (never fully got used to the notchy throttle response although that might have been me) but I did find the XJ6 quite a nice ride. Question is does anyone have a strong opinion on the XJ6 as a first 'big' bike? Have looked at a few including some with ABS ... I understand the use of ABS but never used a bike with it - how important is it on a bike? Any comments appreciated.

Hello I am new to the forum and would like to say hi. I have had my 2007 fuel injected Ybr125 for a couple of months and it never idles at lest then 2000RPM. I know a lot of other bikes idle at about 1k so was wondering if I should get it checked out or book it in for a service. Even after a 20mile drive it will never idle less than 2k. Thanks Dan
