Hi everyone, Need help before I break down in tears!!! I've just adjusted the valve clearances on my bike and built it back up. When I first fired it up there was a loud ticking noise that can only be discribed as one of those clacker gismo you used to take to football matches. I had a play with the the tensioner and it quietened down but is still very much present. Is it usual for a tensioner to just go, it was fine before I started the work? Has anyone experienced the same? Thanks for your time Jim

Hey this is my first post here but I thought someone might be able to offer me some guidance. I have had an SR125 for about a month now and went out for a long run at the weekend. I've noticed that sometimes when applying the throttle in 5th gear the engine will over-rev and the bike loses power. I think this may suggest a slipping clutch but the thing is it doesn't do it during the usual runs around town that I've been doing. It will pull away nicely in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, its only when giving it almost full throttle in the higher gears that it happens. If I reduce the throttle and re-apply it more gradually then sometimes it will accelerate as normal. Any ides would be…

As above really... I started the bike this morning - normal cold start sequence: open choke, started fine - rode off and switched to second gear... The engine cuts out... It then wouldnt start up or even crank over - all i got was an oil light when you push the start button... i tried the usual of putting into neutral and other combinations but nothing... It took 15 minutes then it started without hitch... WTF???

Just bought an SR 125. It needs a little bit of work, SO went to remove the exhaust, The blot at the back of the bike, just below the foot peg has rounded so it aint coming off. Anyone got any hints on how to remove it? Also, before i bought it, one of the bolts which mounts the exhaust into the manifold also sheered so it looks like i need to drill it out, any advice on it?

Hello, I'm looking for some advice and best plan of attack Bought a 1981 YB100 today. It starts first kick every time (without pulling the choke knob) and idles really nicely with about 10K miles on the clock. When you try and ride it, the engine struggles as if it's all clogged up. You can go through the gearbox but 20mph is about the best it will do. I know nothing about small Yamaha 2 strokes (Haynes Manual on Order). However, notices that the choke knob stands about 10mm proud of the carb cover - is this normal? Just wondering if the carb has been assembled wrongly and the engine is flooding. Examined the plug (which previous owner said was ne…

Hello, I have a 2006 r6r and I have just re attached the cables from the servo to the exup valve. Because when I bought the bike there were no cables at all as the previous owner had used a race can which he kept. I have no clue as to the correct position of the cables and would appreciate some guidance or photos of the correct location of the 2 cables. Also when the cables are fitted should the valve be fully open or closed or somewhere inbetween? All help, advice welcome, thanks.

Hi guys, i've got a 05 tzr 50 and as you may know it had a waterpump problem which i have now sorted. Whilst i was trying to fix it i unscrewed the flywheel (i read the manual wrong) and since then i have no spark. There is a timing notch on the flywheel itself but there is nowhere that i can see where to line it up with on the outer case I have no spark what so ever and this is the only possible reason as it was fine before i fiddled about with it. I have an old neon lunar timing light that i was going to use for static timing but i cant find in the user manual or the service manual or anywhere at all what the tdc angle is or anything. Could anybody please help me…

Hi Everyone, I am new to this post and hope you can help my 14 yo stepson. He just bought for $100.00 a 1979 80cc Enduro. I know nothing about dirt bikes or motorcycles but I am pretty handy. The bike is in reasonable shape for 100 but no back brake and if it kick over is does not stay running. I ask him what gas/oil mixture he used and he said 53:1, No one told him that he just used what his buddy uses for his new bike. What is the proper mixture and is there a place I can get a service maual for this. I was going to take the caeb off and clean it out but thought I should get some advice first. Thanks for any help Regards, Ron

Hello, My bike (XVS Dragstar 125) has recently started losing power when I'm pulling away from lights etc. I'll explain what happens. I start the bike, in the morning or the afternoon/evening and let it warm up for as long as I can without getting really bored. When I pull away it moves but not anywhere near as fast as it should do, almost dangerously slow. The only way I get it to start working properly is by blipping the throttle and then it suddenly kicks in to life but even then sometimes when I change from 1st to 2nd the power can go and I lose acceleration, it feels like the fuel isn't getting through or something, this is really doing my head in, someone please he…
