When bike has been left for a while (couple of hours), it takes ages to start, have to use both button start and kick start to finally get it going. Spoke to a friend today he told me to check spark plug, its fine and sparks when start button pressed.He then said to remove air filter from carb, place hand over air inlet and see if it starts, it doesnt, which means theres no split in carb casing. He then suggested jump starting via car to see if battery is problem, bike turned over quicker but didnt start, so battery isnt problem. I then tried starting it with choke in and it started, i thought yeh dont use choke to start it. I then let it run for a bit (10 mins) to warm u…

can anyone tell me what calipers in the yamaha range fit xs1100,1982 or has anybody got a left hand sitting on the bike caliper.

my bike, a 1978 cb400n (not a yamy i know but i do own a r6 making my membership of this club legit lol) now runs after ten+ years sat ina garden (not mine). however. when we first got it going a few days ago, after alot of work on the carbs, clutch and bits n bobs, it was runnnig at idle and on both cylinders sweet as a nut. but now, a few days later, it sounds like its only fireing on one cylinder. it stalls at idle. and when i ride it for a minute or two the left downpipe glows bright red! both spark plugs give a spark. i did clean the carbs thoroughly. my dad recons the silencer is blocked but wouldnt that make both pipes burn? anyway, im not what you would call an …

I have just bought a R6 and the key always gives me grief to turn the bike on. I am looking at changing the key barrell to sort this out. Does anyone know roughly how much this will cost or can anybody reccommend a good garage near me in Orpington Kent BR6. any help is greatly appreciated

ive opend up an old rust bucket, im almost done and just opend the carbs to check there ok, but they wont take any fuel into the chambers. ive tried airguning them, leaving them in wd40 to soak over night and thorough cleaning. maybe im doing it wrong. any tips on how to clean carbs? are u ment to clean them a certain way? cheers for any advice david oh and just to be honest, its not a yamaha lol, its a 78 cb400. but i own a r6 so this isnt like, cheating or anything lol.

Only had my bike for a short while, got it running good and have been putting lots of miles on it. So i'm guessing its due for an oil change, but I really have no idea what weight of oil its suppost to have. Any one got clue ?

Hi, my kick start lever fell off my 2006 yz250 when it was on the trailor on the motorwayand was wondering if an 04 model would fit because i found one at a breakers for like more than half price than a new one. Thanks

The sr 125 i have bought needs a little bit of work to the wheels, I have polished them but there is still some black spots etc. Does anyone have any advice on how to get them back to as original finish as possible?

Hi there, i have a Yamaha tzr 50 and it has no spark at all. My local garage (1st gear motorcycles) have had no luck with it. They have tested all they can and they say it should be working fine... it isnt. They said the only thing they havent tested is the cdi unit. So i am looking to buy this (http://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/p/ATHENA-UNLIMTED-REV-CDI-UNIT---675.aspx) it is for all motor minarelli am6 engines, it says. And my tzr 50 is infact a motor minarelli am6. So they havent got on the list of bikes it will work with, my tzr 50 or the mbk xpower 50 which are both the same. Should i take a risk and hope for the best??? Thanks guys

I was riding the other day and got stuck in some very heavy traffic - nose to tail and little room to zip between them - so engine temp was rising - but not over heating - the fan comes on at the correct temp - and then all of a sudden it just died on me - just as the fan came on however, the lights were all working including headlights but the starter acted as if the battery was dead. gave a very weak try and then just clicked. so got the recovery (useful investment) and taken home put battery on charge, and it seemed to take an awful long time to fully charge - (the charger was one of those intelligent ones which does some checks when charging to test for leaka…

Hi guys, My first post on the forum! My 1991 TDM850 which is well cared for is due it's first 26,000 major service! The advice from my local mechanic is to buy a set of titanium emulsifying tubes before syncronising the carbs, as a common fault is that the standard ones wear excessively making it difficult to set up the carbs making the bike run rich. Apparently TDM850 titanium emulsifying tubes are available from a supplier in the USA/Canada. Does anybody know who/where I can get them from??? Cheers Brad XT

I am just wondering is this a big job.Ideally i just want to fit the undertray of a 03 to my 99 R6, but may have to change all.any info on how hard it will be or if it is even possible would be great.

im in need of some help form anyone in the know. been to work on the bike today everything was fine. just gone to put her to bed in the garage( fzr600r foxeye) and when i turned the ignition on ,nothing happens no dash/power or anything. the park light still comes on when you turn the ignition to park . but nothing else, has anyone got any ideas please please please

I am fixing up an 81 XS400 that has been sitting for about 15 years. I have cleaned the carbs and replaced the exhaust and have got the bike to idol. I have also just took the bike out for a spin for a few miles. I have noticed that the plug on the right side looks great, however the plug on the left cylinder is almost completely covered in black soot. Today I replaced the carb boots and when I started it back up I noticed the the right muffler was noticeably louder and pushing out quite a bit more air pressure than the left muffler. I revved the bike up to 5K and held it ther for a few minutes, white smoke was coming from the left cylinder and this cylinder back…

i have a dt50mx (year 89) i travel about 20 mile and the engin just stops. try and rey start it but it bus not rey start. i tock out the sprak pug and it was orgin on the end i clend it off with i wire bruss put it back in and it started. but after about 20mile it did it again can eney help?

Hi, Mike here, We put a new headlight bulb in the RXS100 project and the light works fine on full beam but illuminates to the right on dipped.(This is in a drive on the left country situation-UK) The sidelight is in the bottom part of the reflector and the bulb was put in as offset mounting showed correct. Surely it should dip to the left? Have I been sent foreign style (right dip) bulbs or am I missing something here?

hey I am having a problem with my FZR 600 there was a short in the wiring and it was causing there to be a loop in the system.I traced that out and found two wires crossed up by the switch so I go that fixed and got everything working (lights, horn, turn signals, engine cranks,) the only problem is I am still not getting any spark. I took and had the coils tested and they work fine. I have heard that the CDI never goes bad so does anybody have any idea's for what it could be? the other thing is that when the key is on the CDI box gets really warm to the touch. could there be a short in the CDI and it is not allowing the coils to fire?
