Hi, please help My 2003 XT600e has decided to start missfiring (sometimes doesnt fire at all) when accelerating from 3,200rpm or less. It also misses a beat when at a constant low rpm when riding under no load at a low'ish rpm. It only does this when fully warmed up. When it does cut out it takes about 10-20 seconds of cranking before it starts, wilst cranking it pops a bit. I have had a non standard exhaust fitted and jetted to match but i have put it all back to standard and it's still the same. Thanks for any ideas

  3. Anyone got one on there XT ? The new model with fuel injection? like mine (XT600X) , or any other model of a XT 600, 660 and so on? Dog's bizzz or what? £486 in uk to fit and dyno. Cheers Girls and Boys.

Hi all, I recently came into possession of a 125 SR 1987. The other day the bike was left out in the rain , and now it will not start. As far as I can make out it's some kind of electronic failure, because no lights come on when I turn it on, and the motor tries to run if I push it for long enough. I even ran it down a long hill and let the clutch out and it almost started, but was misfiring a lot and so on, as if there was no spark, only compression. I checked the battery and it seems ok, (but I broke my multimeter, so I can't check again just yet...). Anyway, if anybody has any ideas, please let me know. Cheers, ravloony

Hi guys, I think I may have posted my original question on the wrong portion of the forum so forgive me is mistaken. Just got a 1983 TT600 with a seized piston. Rebuilt the top end with new piston, rings and liner and got ready to fire it up. No spark. Bruce in this group was nice enough to suggest trimming back the HT lead and reconnecting since they were prone to corrosion there. It worked, got bike started after umpteen kicks. Now bike is still hard as heck to start when cold. I know the valve timing is good since I triple checked it before buttoning back up. Have taken the primary carb apart and adjusted the float level ( it was off by a ways) and cleaned all…

Hello, I did a search, but didn't find much. I am usually a chopper fan (yamaha engines also make for great old school choppers!) but I just picked up a 1991 YZ125. Got if for free.99 (Great price, yeah!) but the top end of the engine is apart. I've read that the 1991 engine isn't so great, so doing a stock rebuild may be a last resort. How easy would it be to put a later model engine in there, possibly even a YZ250 engine? Thanks in advance

Hi there, the problem with my 1992 535 is that when you decelerrate then rev back up it seems as if I have fuel starvation.Say I'm cruising along at about 50mph then slow down and gear down for a junction, when I accelerate away from slowing down it takes a few seconds to catch up. When it started it wasn't too bad but it seems to have got progressively worse.Yet there are no problems when riding at up to 80/90 mph so fuel is getting through it only happens when I throttle off and then throttle up again.Any ideas Ok been having a thought and a scout round the net and have come up with the idea that perhaps it may be due to worn diagphrams

Hey-o So I'm ready to push this bike off a cliff...One day I suddenly had charging issues with the bike. I used a multimeter and observed approx 12 volts and slowly, steadily falling while running = not charging. Opened the alternator/generator up and sure enough one brush was below specs, replaced it and still no help. Wiring appears to be OK, oldish but OK. I even used a liberal amount of spray electrical cleaner. Didn't help. Is the stator coil the last thing it could be? I'm really at my wits end with this thing. Is there any more prodding I can do with the multimeter? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket exhaust that will fit an 88 FZ600? Slip-on or full system? Is there another bike that the FZ matches besides the radian?

Hi all I'm underway with my first rebuild and wondered what the suggestions were for stripping the paint off the frame of my XT. Dont really want to spend the money on sandblasting so wondered if it was the wire brush in the drill or whether paint stripper was any good. All advice greatly recieved Thanks Hoggy

How do I remove the needle jet on a Mikuni 34 carb? I want to take it out of my 81xs400 and give it a good cleaning, but they both seem really stuck in there.

Has anyone got a clue as to why the front plug should foul up after being in the bike for a week. The fouling indicates a rich mixture, but I don't even use the choke & the carbs haven't been touched. The bike is used for travelling to work (10 min. ride) but this problem has only just started, there is also backfiring through the exhaust & popping in the carb. Its got so bad that I'm considering taking it to a motorcycle garage to get it looked at. Any help in sorting this would be greatfully received.

I'm sorting out the wiring on an 85 XT350 which was a field bike for a short spell - no its not that bad! - most of the loom is still there but has been hacked about some. At preset there are the wires coming up from the engine to the CDI and coil and to the stop button but nothing else. When i traced it out the wiring diagram it shows 2 x "control boxes" and 1 x appears to be under the clocks on a set of clocks I've bought. The engine runs without the second box being wired up so what does it do?

i have an E-reg RX-S and with the cold weather arriving, a problem has arrived. it starts fine but when it has warmed up, it wants to die when i come to a stop and have to hold some revs on the counter. it feels like the choke has been left on but i turn it off before i set off. would there be a fault with the choke or maybe a new air filter or does it just not like winter time??? thanks to anyone that can help as i use the bike every day to get to work.

Well have been riding it for 4 weeks with no problem so i put in 3.5 litres and it is good on the dip stick. Any ideas/ wrongs/rights or perfect ways to do this.? i'm going by the book for now with a 50/50 comprize of what came out. cheers Paul.

Hiya Peeps, Do starter solenoids wear out or just stop working?, I`ve just revamped my S/motor, It spin`s like a mad thing when connected directly to the battery (New, Full charge), When connected via the solenoid, The solenoid ether just clicks or turns the S/M slowly, Draining the battery, I`ve checked the wiring, Having had the S/M out, Alls clean, dry, No shorts, loose connections, From button to solenoid seems OK as well, Any insight would help, Many thanks as always, Mark. After thought, The solenoid IS connected the right way round.
