well my top ends a bit noisy and knocks so my first guess is its the valve clearances need aadjusting, but i cant anywhere find what the valve clearances should be for my xj400 1991, i cant even find them for a xj600 which is an english model, and i dont want to pay £30 for a haynes for a 600 when its not even for my engine so does anyone know what they should be and if they can be adjusted or if i need special tools as all i could find is about the xs400 which needs valve adjusting pads or something but its a completely different engine, any help will be appreciated, adam

The old sweats have probably been using this for years but i was really strugling getting my fork seals to part company with the fork lowers. I had tried levers and various degrees of swearing when my eyes fell upon my heat gun. Worked for the crank seals, goto be worth a try. Bingo got the top of the leg really hot (it was boiling the wd i'd tried as a releasing agent). In with a 'modified' screwdriver and out they popped nice as you like. Thought i'd put it up, may help somebody out.

I own a 1983 Yamaha 650 maxim. I got the bike with no exhaust, so I installed headers. Also I replaced the factory air box with regular filters, 1 per carb. Now the bike runs so lean it pops through the exhaust, and runs hot. The bike has the factory main jet size of 110, what size should I be using??

Hi all, how do I test a relay (horn) like the one in the pic below with a multimeter? I connected + and - to 85 and 86 then touched the meter probes to 30 and 87. When I touch the last connection say 87, the relay does click but not every time, I can touch it 7 or even 12 times and it will eventually click then not again for a few touches. Does that mean it is faulty or my meter could be faulty?

a while back i posted asking how to take apart my spedometer on my 1974 dt175 in order to tighten the screws on the fac all around to frevent tampering. well. i had to fix it because the screws were starting to loosen badly. after removing the unit. i removed the rubber gasket/bezel. then i used a grinder and made a champher cut all the way around so that it took away right at the point where the crimp edge rolls over the lip that makes up the base of the unit. all the way around leaving a small ring beyond the crimp point which i discarded. here is a short video of the rest. video of removal you will note that i wrote out on the glass. this was in case i decided t…

My '98 FZS 600 has developed a bit of a strange misfire. From cold it starts, runs and pulls just fine. After just a couple of miles if you crack the throttle open suddenly it loses a cylinder. Backing the throttle off brings the cylinder back online. If you then roll the throttle on gently it will accelerate as clean as a whistle all the way up to silly revs and speeds (Honest officer, I was just trying to trace a fault ) Changed the plugs just incase I'd got one breaking down under pressure but to no avail. Re-calibrated the TPS because that was out and the problem seemed to go away for a little while but now it's back with avengance. Had the tops off all of the ca…

But I'm trying to look for information on this bike and what its called out of my country. Its a 1970s/80s Yamaha Moped or Cub, with a 79cc 2 stroke engine, Chain Drive, commonly comes in either Blue or Red. Other than that i don't have much info about this bike.

I searched around and couldn't find anything that quite relates to my problem. I have an old YB100 that I got in boxes. I've put it all together and it started right up, idles fine. However, it the assembly I loosened the nut on the clutch actuator arm which turns the worm drive to press in on the spring plate of the clutch drum. when i loosened the nut the actuator arm snapped down and ever since I have not been able to set up the clutch so that when i pull the clutch lever at the handlebars, the bike goes into neutral. Sadly, while I am pretty familiar with two-stroke motors, I have never owned a geared bikes, just belt drive CVT transmission pedal mopeds from the 19…
