Hi guys, here's a good one for you technical guys, the rev counter stopped working on my yamaha engined Bimota today, so had a play about at the clock end and noticed that the wires in the block connector were loose. I pulled the connector off and all three wires came out of the connector, in attempting to re locate them i short circuited them popping the fuse no problem thought i replace the fuse and away to go, only problem now is it only runs on 1 & 4. i suspect i may have toasted something. the ignition was still switched on when i pulled off the connector. Any thoughts or suggestions please.

Hi, I am new to working on motorcycles so please bear with me. I picked up a 1980 DT175 for a couple hundred bucks last week and have been trying to get it running. I cleaned and refilled the gas tank, drained and refilled crankcase oil and 2 stroke engine oil, cleaned air filter box, took the carb off and, cleaned it out and reset the float height according to service manual (20mm+-2.5mm). I put everything back together and when i try to start it, it it'll sputter sometimes but never start. I do have spark (tested with in garage with light off), i have air since airbox is clean (no filter right now the old one rotted away), not sureif engine is getting fuel though…

Hello everyone, I have a Fuel injected 07 YBR 125. It's been working fine all the way through the winter without so much as a blip and now the weather has warmed up it's stopped working.. It will start and run fine in the morning when the ambient temperature is cool but when I want to come home in the warmth of the afternoon it won't start. It turns over and I've tried to check that there is fuel reaching the injector through the fuel pipe. I've noticed that the fuel pump doesn't whirr when I turn the ignition on but yet it does in the morning when it's cold. What that is heat related is stopping my fuel pump working? Any help would be great. Thanks R…

I have an 1986 FJ1200. I might have a chance to purchase a FJ1100 without the motor. I am wondering if there are any posts that possibly list the compatable parts of these 2 bikes? Or does anyone know what parts would fit? What might a parts bike without motor be worth? A few parts off the top of my head I need are handlebars, centerstand, cables, front fender, windshield, possibly brake parts. A few things that I would consider changing depending on condition and if they fit are forks, body parts, wheels, etc... Come to think of it, maybe I'll just put my motor in the 1100 frame, ha

Hello, (2) questions, My 15 yr. old son has a dt 175 that we needed to take the clutch apart because of the plates being rusty from previous owner. Anyway, what is the adjustment for the screw and jam nut at the end of the clutch basket. And we have a washer about 5/8" od. and 5/16"id. and not sure where it goes. Thinking it went on the shaft end after the plastic "tach" gear. Or does anyone have a picture of the whole clutch side with gears showing. Any help would be appreciated, he can't wait to learn how to ride it, Thanks, H1 Triples

I can't find a harness for the 82 xs400SJ I'm working on, so I'm trying to work on the stock one. I found the remains of a diode, it looks like it may have worn through the heat shrink and shorted out. Hard to tell because there was nothing left but a wire. I need to know what the value of the diode was so I can try to replace it. I've highlighted it on the schematic. I might just order a harness from an 82 Seca or Maxim, and use whatever I can, but I'm not sure yet. This bike apparently had a fire near the carbs at some point, and there are quite a few burnt wires and melted connectors. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks In Advance!

Hi all, New to this biker stuff. Thanks to the wonders of eBay I'm a new owner of a 1996 SR125. She's a lovely gal and when she's running its lots of fun for a new rider like me. BUT..... When cold, very cold, the bike will start with the choke. When hot or even a couple hours after being ridden the bike refuses to start. Starter turns over nicely. I can hear ignition but it doesnt catch. Spark plug changed for a new one and it sounds exactly the same. Side stand down, in neutral. What am I missing? Help Thanks

Hi lads, Was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction with this. I have a TDR 125 - runs ok and idles perfect up to a point where your riding her and she starts to lose power and sort of shake forward and backwards (if you know what i mean). If you reduce the revs by lowering the throttle she will continue on, but if you keep the throttle open at the poing where she shakes forward and backwards, she will cut out and will sometimes take time to get her started again. Would anyone have any ideas what this could be ? just rescently done a complete top end rebuilt. Thanks for all help on this lads, Dave

hey, I left the bike outside over winter (covered as much as possible, but i don't have any inside storage space). When I tried starting it up again a few weeks back, the engine wouldn't start. I don't really know too much about the mechanical side of things, and I figured this would be a good excuse to start. Any ideas? I thought I'd start by changing the spark plug - i've no real reason for thinking this will solve the problem, but again, it seems like a relatively basic task that I should probably learn, even if it doesn't solve my immediate problem. cheers!

I have a 2002 fazer 1000 with datatool system 3 alarm. When starting the bike the other day the milage disappeared, the rev counter stopped working and the speedo is only reading half the speed it should. The milage display shows for a split second when the ignition is turned on then disappears. It shows 'odo' and you can select 'trip 1' and 'trip 2' but no digits show up on any of the settings. Has this happened to anyone before or does anyone know what the problem would be? Please help Thanks Malcolm
