Ok see what you guys think. Took the 1990 Yamaha Radian yx 600 for it's first ride yesterday. After bout 15 min of riding the bike just lost all engine power as in it almost seemed like it was running out of gas. As soon as i pulled over it quit and would not restart for about 15 min. After that started fine and had power again. On the way home it did the same thing again. Waited 15 min and then it ran fine. I checked to make sure the fuel filter wasn't clogged even though i didn't think that could be it. Checked the boots and the vaccum hose to see if they were cracked or anything but they all looked good. Haven't tried the WD40 test yet. Haven't had time. So n…

Hi all, really hoping someone can help with this as its a bit of an issue at the moment, a friend of mine is currently building a bit of a one off utilizing a Yamaha TZR125 2RK engine/stator electrics and an imported 4HW CDI unit, now although he has had some success in getting things wired up so its sparking and the YPVS servo is working there is still a black/blue wire that isn't going anywhere which obviously isn't right so as you may have gathered i have been helping him with the wiring side of it and have been on every wiring diagram website there is and must now have every TZR diagram their is to be had with the exception of the one we need so on that note if anyon…

  6. Hi there, Well, bought the bike off my mate, nice nick, but has been standing in his shed for 10 years, last ran 6 years ago i understand.. Have put a new Fuel pump in as the first one was knackered, cleaned out carbs, New battery and plugs but.... When I try to start it, mostly it starts, splutters a bit then dies, won't idle and wont let me rev it, thats with the choke on full. Also the tacho needle goes a bit haywire when the ignition is on. Occasionally I can get it revving, but need to keep it quite high to stop it stalling ad in any case this is once in a blue moon. My brother had better luck by partially covering the air intake, so starving it of air. Seemed to…

My bike passed the MOT yesterday but now it seems there is a part missing from the carburettor which I didn't spot before. Can anyone tell me what should be there, and how important is it? Images at http://www.theabominablesnowman.co.uk/DT125.html Thanks

Hi, any help gratefully received. Have just replaced the guts of the carb with a Keyster refurb kit. All sizes were the same as the ones I took out yet now I cant get any adjustment from the air , or idle screws ; turning them either way makes no difference, yet it idles fine at about 1300 and revs (in neutral) no bother. Engine is standard. Any thoughts? Cheers

  9. Greetings, I have a 1982 XJ 750 Maxim. Looking to install forward controls. Need to take out the front bottom motor mount bolts. According to the manual, the bolts come out easily after removing the nut. The left side slid right out. The right will not come out and there appears to be a gear of some sort inside. Has anyone ever faced this before? How do I get the bolt out and now the I have followed some "Expert" advice, I cut the bolt, I have to replace the bolt with gear. Looks like I can jaek the engine up in the frame enough to make the switch but looks like I need a new bolt/gear and seal. The gear appeares to be very lose and not attached to a chain of any kind. Any…

Im trying to get an old YB100 i have roadworthy so i can stip down my other working bike for a respray Anyway as I got it without a baffle in the silencer I tried swapping the one from my L2g into it but unfortunately it doesnt seem to quite seal the plug and it still sounds like a dirt bike. I was told to use packing with the baffle and got given a 500mm square sheet of it. So how much of this packing should I use and how do i use it? Do i just wire it on or cable tie and let let them melt in the exhaust as i was told?

  13. So, I finally decided to add Uni-Pod filters and re-jet. I'm using these filters: Now the plan is to re-jet going 2 up on main, 2 washers to raise the needle, and 1 up on the pilot. Anyone think this isn't the way to go? I've been debating on going 2 up on the pilot as well, but I think that might be too much. I've decided to start out as 2 up on the Main as that's what they suggest doing with BS34 carbs on the 650's, here: http://www.amckayltd.com/carbguide.pdf Let me know what you all think.

Hi everyone- Here's a quick introduction. I am new to motorcyles, and just bought my first one a few days ago.I got the urge to want to ride this summer and found a great beginners bike. Its a 70' ct-175. I happen to find it on craigslist for 400$. It only has 1900 miles on it has been garaged kept and looks nice. But id rather be able to ride it than just look nice ha-ha. So anyway I when I bought it, the points had been removed. Not knowing too much I had my friend put in a new condenser and points. I also put a new battery in it. I tried to kick it over a few times but we were getting no spark. I am also wondering what the correct point gap measurement is??W…
