Renewed my insurance on my bike today, and as the girl on the other end was touting the usual twaddle, she mentioned that I had put down that I garaged my bike overnight , as I was hoping that would bring down the policy a tad, but oh no, it's not as straightforward as that, by garaging the bike, the company means literally putting the bike into the garage every time you come home from a ride out, as opposed to parking it out on the road or even up your driveway, during the daytime, after umming and ahhing with her, she quoted me an extra 25 quid on top of the policy, so that it is covered whilst parked at my house, either up the driveway, or out on the front. The £2 extr…

I found a company doing some great carbon fibre bits for the MT-03 but everything is out of stock plus they are an Italian company. Does anyone know if there is a UK company doing something similar? I have had my MT-03 for a week now and love it to bits so want to treat it to some new add ons. This is the link to the Italian site. http://www.carbonhouse-shop.it/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=8&Itemid=1&Itemid=1

I was stripping My TW125 and gound I need a Clutch holder tool too hold the Inner ring to remove the nut. What I did was use the strapping from a local pound shop the sort that you strap Luggage or bits onto a car or trailer. It cost £1.00. you wrap the strap round and use a Ratchet eventually it grips the Inner wheel so you can undo the nut and it does so applying even pressure around the whole of the inner wheel. Off cours you wrap it around the opposiste way you want to turn the nut.

Being a veteran of these forums now with 30 posts under my belt (heh heh), I thought I'd add my two penneth and give it large as per forum demands. I might be talking out of my backside and if I am please go easy on me when telling me so, but what the hell is going on the road tax for bikes????? As far as I can gather it's all still cc based and looks like it's going to be for the foreseeable. The tax system changed for cars on the 1st March 2001 and you pay as per your CO2 output which seems fair as if you choose to run a gas guzzler, you pay more. Up until four months ago, I ran 4 ltr V8's averaging 12.5 to the gallon but that was my choice and nobody had a …

  5. Do we motorcyclists just expect bad service? After my bad experience with Hein Gericke I put this to one side and decided to get some parts for the old TS. Sent Crooks Classic Parts an email with the parts I was looking to price up using their online form. The name, part number and quantity of each part I wanted was all on there. Left my phone number and email. They have a good search facility on their site and the parts (bar one) all seemed to be in stock. I did this Friday. Left it Saturday as I presumed that they would be busy with walk in customers. Called them Monday and they took my name and said they would get back to me. Thursday now and I have not heard a thi…

I was just wondering if I am the only person not to Tweet, Face(?), Link or anything else? Everyone seems to want to talk about themselves and wherever I go the talk is about "Social networking" - How social it can be using your phone or computer is beyond me! I thought it was more anti social and social was meeting up with your mates. I even get random emails from people who I have only spoken to about some possible work asking me to add them to my "friends". I don't even know these people and a 5 minute conversation about a possible work contract doesn't mean we are mates! Personally, I don't do any of it. I think it can be dangerous and I don't want to know that…

Yesterday someone tied a bomb around an 18 year old girls neck in Australia, It was in a well too do area apparently, possibly extortion, anyhow it took bomb experts 10 hours to diffuse the bomb, I wonder if it would have been quicker if it was a bloke that had the bomb around his neck !!!!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-14398198

  8. After DirtyDT's extremely poor customer service from Hein Gericke, thats Hein Gericke, I see that there are some other people who are disappointed to have received poor and unhelpfull service from Hein Gericke, Hein Gericke gear is not a cheap low end merchandiser of any sort, their gear is of a very high quality and is reflected in Hein Gerickes pricing strategy, i.e. you get quality at a premium cost from Hein Gericke-try telling that to the staff at Hein Gericke, here's an excerpt from the MCN, thats the Motorcycle news, the Motor Cycle News is a magazine, containing News about Motor Cycles-hence its name Motor Cycle News, or MCN for short, here they posted a let…

A Guide to jockland... Geology Scotland didn’t exist until the Emperor Hadrian, correctly identifying the threat from Scandinavia (only 6 or 7 centuries too early) had a defensive wall built along the northern shoreline of what would later become England. His Sappers tipped the spoil from digging out the foundations of the wall in to the sea, and this spoil gradually settled to become land. The weight of the spoil disturbed the underlying geology off the sea-bed, resulting in unique deposits welling up through the settling land-mass. These included the spunk off long-dead dinosaurs, which rose through the earth to form porridge bogs; and dinosaur fat - rendered …

A man is driving down the road and breaks down near a monastery. He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night? The monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, and even fix his car. As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound; a sound like no other that he has ever heard. The next morning, he asks the monks what the sound was, but they say, We can't tell you because you're not a monk. The man is disappointed but thanks them anyway and goes about his merry way.. Some years later, the same man breaks down in front of th…

  16. Riding along on a sunny day, what can annoy you more than the dickhead car driver in front attempting to wash his windcreen with badly aimed washer jets, causing your visor, lethers and jeans to become misted with chemically tainted stagnant water? Well let me tell you........riding along a motorway on a sunny day, centre lane, waiting to pull out into the fast lane, traffic on both sides and a National express coach in front. Suddenly and without warning, it starts to rain, not heavy, just that drizzly misty stuff known down here in the South West as Missle, only the skies are blue, not a cloud in sight......WTF! Only after a couple of seconds does it register that th…

I can't find any panniers small enough not to foul the indicators or to have me sitting on them. I don't want to get a rack as It isn't really cost effective, I don't like big tankbags unless I am away for a long while (I have a Bagster cover fitted) and tail packs/bags make it really difficult to hop on the bike as the rear seat is stepped up a lot. I have been looking for options for weeks and it is getting to me . Should I get a National Express coach there? The last bit was a joke by the way. Picture of the dilemma.
