Hi, After several long hard months of saving, I am only a few bob short of affording my DAS. However, I'm not sure how I should go about it as I haven't road over winter and some pillock ran over my bike while it was parked up (pannier rack saved bike from any major damage) and I won't have my bike back for a few weeks. I know I need more practice (slow speed), and to do my theory test but I don't know any bikers who ride any more to go out with to point out mistakes and what not. Should I go straight to an instructor and do a 5 day course, including mod 1 and 2, or would having lessons be the better option? I can't afford to fail, money is fairly tight so I want to…

Hi all, I'm Karen from Glasgow, I'm new to forums but I'm having some issues so bit the bullet and joined lol! I have a 2007 R1 with power commander fitted. I changed jobs in 2009 and the bike went off the road due to low salary ( I didn't have the heart to sell! ). I finally decided to get it back on the road last year, changed plugs, battery, brake fluid, coolant etc, stripped out injectors and soaked them in carb cleaner and I dropped some oil down the bores and rolled the bike in gear to free off the Pistons. After all of this it fired up and ran perfectly, went for mot and sailed through, this was in April last year and I've been using the bike regular since an…

Hello, I purchased a DT-175 from a friend of mine, with the intention of restoring it. Neither of us have any idea what the year of the bike is, but our best guess is 1973-1975 area. Is there a way of discovering exactly what year it is? Thanks, Jeff

Hi, wondering if anyone can please help me. My Yamaha XJ900F (1992) slipped from my grip the other day and rolled onto its right side, cracking the crankshaft end cover into three, emptying all the engine oil. Needless to say I wasn't too happy. I'm trying to hunt down a replacement part, and so far have only found what I need in Holland - which will cost be rather costly to post. Does anyone know of a supplier that might make these? I usually find what I need at WeMoto but not this time it seems. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Hi, I'm new here and trying to find out how I find out the accurate year of manufacture .....I've got the VIN number but nothing online correlates to it to give me a year. Also, how do I get proof/documentation of the year of manufacture? Any ideas anyone please.....

  8. A brief conversation with the housemate yesterday had her with an observation about how people swing their leg over their bikes. Her observation is that guys will bend their leg while they swing it over, while women tend to just keep it straight. I haven't been able to disagree yet, but I am interested in if this is a seemingly accurate observation - so, what do you guys and gals do when swinging your leg over the bike?

Hi, I have a dt125 98 and recently changed the gearbox oil to find there was petrol in it, in the oil I also found a few small fragments of crankcase sealant. If anyone could help me figure out what's wrong that would be great! Don't want to start stripping the engine down if I don't have to

Recently I changed a piston and rings on a 1999 TW125 (the same engine as a SR125 i understand). I bought a set from Wemoto which was not genuine Yamaha. There were no markings on the rings and I couldn't say for sure which of the two top rings was which. After much trawling around the internet and leaving a post in the workshop forum here (thanks Airhead for getting back to me), I did come across this site, which might be useful. http://www.dansmc.com/rings.htm Although obviously I can't substantiate it, it does look like the fella has looked into it.

  11. With the track still cool in the morning, teammate Rossi took his time to further test set-ups with the aim to prolong tyre life. When the track started to warm up he put his YZR-M1 to the test and posted the sixth fastest time of 2’00.676s, +0.713s behind his teammate, despite suffering some chattering issues. While the track was baking in the blistering afternoon temperatures at 2pm, the riders took some time to regain their strength and consume enough fluids, before heading back out into the bright sunshine at the Sepang International Circuit. When Lorenzo and Rossi retuned to the track they used the last two hours of the session to test various aspects of the bi…

Hey there, As I was pulling into work today I noticed my rev counter being a bit of a nob. While rolling to a stop in neutral I spotted my rev needle snapping to 0-1,500-4,000 rev point while bike just sat there in idle, I'll have a link to the video in the bottom, But basically wanted to know if it was a sign of something bad or if the clocks are just on their way out. Or it may very well be a perfectly normal thing, I dont know. http://youtu.be/I3_f8fwTvNU

Hi Just as a general query, anyone on here had much hassle from parking tickets off private parking management companies? I've had one or two in the past but now they seem to appear all over the place and I've seen lots of people mistakenly paying them. Mine go straight in the bin of course as they aren't official PCN's! Any ridiculous / petty stories out there? Cheers Dom

Hey Guys, So... this morning coming out my garage I put the side-stand down and went to close the garage door and the damned gravel under the side-stand gave way and allowed my bike to kiss the ground passionately. The ground was not kind, snapped the clutch lever and cracked the wing-mirror - no other damage luckily. My issue is I can't seem to find any MT125 parts for sale and am not sure if the MT07 or YZFR125 parts would be compatible? Anybody able to point me in the right direction? :] Thanks!

Hiya all, I'm sad to report that, due to my ignorance, my 15 year old Dragstar 125 has broke. I've had here for a thousand miles and She's been running lean due to cracks in manifold forcing my to ride full choke so I don't get killed on a12, all this has put too much force through a slack chain which has bent the neutral switch and bent a bolt which caused an oil leak so today is fixing that oil leak charge battery and see if she starts and see if we can diagnose any engine damage from the oil leak. Now, if there is engine damage then I have been told maybe a big bore kit is way to go in terms of repair and upgrade. Thanks to this forum I already found out I need…

  20. The stage was not enjoyed by all Yamaha riders unfortunately. Spanish Yamaha rider Juan Pedrero didn’t start this morning and was very nearly joined by Xavier de Soultrait, who was ill all night with gastroenteritis. The Frenchman finally arrived at this evening’s bivouac in a courageous 21st place. Overall Olivier Pain maintains his 10th place, Xavier de Soultrait is 13th with Frans Verhoeven 16th. Xavier de Soultrait In the quad category there were some different names on top of the leader board than the usual suspects. Today it was Christophe Declerck who came out on top, leading from fellow Yamaha rider Nelson Sanabria (at 06’35). However the order of the overall st…
