hi there, I'm looking for a fuel cap for my XVS 650 (1997 model) I'm finding it very hard to find one. i was driving along yesterday and it flew off as i was driving, the spring broke of the release mechanism, hopped along the road and into the ditch by the time i pulled up and ran back i couldn't find it, gone forever... That's what you get for not fixing the damn thing in the first place. I looked up wemoto.com and mandp.co.uk and they don't have them in stock. It's a rare enough item i would imagine. So hence why i am here now. Any advice of where to look? I know in the states that V-star is the equivalent of the drag star, but my model is 1997 and it only came…

I'm renovating a DT125R and had to replace the rear wheel. Now I have done that I CANNOT GET ANY PRESSURE FROM THE REAR BRAKE AND THE BRAKE DOES NOT OPERATE. The rear brake caliper is fixed to the wheel spindle, so when I removed the wheel I (probably incorrectly), I disconnected the rear brake cable from the caliper so that the caliper could be removed connected to the wheel spindle. I have now read that I have made some errors in the way I removed the wheel and in particular the rear brake caliper. The rear brake cable that I disconnected from the caliper has obviously leaked some brake fluid whilst the wheel was replaced. Now I have replaced the wheel/caliper…

Hello All, A friend directed me to this site, hopefully to find someone who knows more about my "new" vintage purchase... a 1983 Venture Royale. The bike runs and rides well. The guy I bought it from never disclosed the lost gears, he told me it had its cosmetic problems, though. The plastics on the bike all needed repair, the seat needed to be reupholstered, a new head pipe, etc etc etc. I was fleeced and it is my fault for buying a bike in late Jan in new england and not being able to take it for a proper test ride. All the cosmetics are done, the bike was tuned, new plugs and such. I took it out for a shake-down ride two weeks ago and I have smooth shifts, neu…

Hi to all, I had a search of the forum but couldn't find a specific answer - so thought i'd post and see if anyone had experience of adding a toth the the front sprocket of the YBR 125. This is my first post. I've an 07 YBR 125 and am considering getting 1 tooth extra front sprocket. This is to try to increase the top end (hoping for 5mph extra - where wind isn't against me). I'm also hoping that it will allow me to go a bit faster in the lower gears. for example, at 40mph i'm very comfortably in the top gear. With an extra tooth on the front I'd like to be able to use 4th instead. The same applies for most of the lower gears. So, here are my questions. Does anyo…

Hello all, Just purchased a 1964 Yamaha YG1 80cc. Seem like a great little bike. Look forward to riding her. Just had a few questions that I was hoping someone could answer. What type of oil should I run in the gear box? I was reading that some people use 10W40 and even some use ATF in the 2 stroke gearboxes? I was leaning more towards the 10W40. What fuel to oil ratio should I use for premix? I think I read 20:1 on an old brochure I saw online...kind of hard to make out the text though. Also along with the gearbox oil, anybody know what the capacity is and how to tell how much is in there? There doesn't seem to be a dipstick or anything...at least th…

So the days are nearing to the inevitable purchase of my YBR 125 for commuting to work. I'm sorting out the place where I will keep it at home at the moment, but don't have a place to keep it under cover - like in a garage or secluded area. I'm worried that a bike is such an easy target for vandalism or just plan robbin'! How can I help stop people getting their hands on my pride and joy? I'd love to hear where you keep your bike if not in a garage and if you've had any troubles doing it that way. Parking at work is fine, being a fort with guard dogs! MrL

Hey peeps, everyone had their fun of the nice weather? ... So I've had a wee look at the pinned chain page. Interesting stuff. Is there any way to see which chain is on my bike? I know it doesn't really matter if it's worn as it will need replaced anyway but I was just curious as to if I could find out if it X or O sealed or make.. Also heard some for's and against Scot Oilers, I'm all for just, *ahem* doing it by hand but been looking into an S.O. and wondering what yer thoughts are...?

Hey everyone, I got my new caliper in for my xs750 special (super excited face ), I was trying to bleed the front brakes. There are two front brakes on the XS750 special. However, I could not get the fluid to come through the bleed nipple. I kept hearing little gasps of air but no fluid. The master cylinder didn't seem to be draining at all either. Has anyone else run into this problem? If so are there any solutions that you can think of? Thanks for reading, Brian

At the start of April my beloved FZR was stolen from off my drive-way. I was absolutely gutted and the police came back with the usual, nothing. But now I've been out and purchased a new bike, technically its used but to me its new. I am now the proud owner of an R reg Thundercat. Anyone got any tips for the bike? Also, anyone know any cheaper security items, preferably alarmed d-locks, chains etc? I know that I should put more value into the security but now I've bought the bike I'm skint and I need something now.

Hi All, First time on here so firstly, hello! I have an XV535 that is eating batteries and I wondered if anyone can tell me what's wrong with it. I've put two new ones on now and they both just flattened within a few months. The first time it happened I assumed it was because I didn't look after it very well over winter. Since then I've put another one on and it's flattened that too. If I don't ride the thing every day then after about a month it'll need charging. I think it's getting worse too, the last battery lasted about 2 months total and now it's fried. It's also had performance problems for as long as I can remember. Several garages have looked at it…

I need some assistance. I have a 1979 Yamaha XS750. It is very used but runs good. I bought it from a guy and he said that when starting in the cold it would run the battery down and he used a combination on starter and kick starting and it worked. So it starts up, I ride it home, and it won't start back up. I check the fuses and one is blown so I replace it. When starting it gets warm and then blows. This fuse controls the lights and the starter and everything. Without it, nothing seems to come on. It had a 32V 15A fuse. Do I need to get a bigger one? The battery is a little old, is it causing the fuse to blow? Is there a common place where shorts occur?…

Hey there, I just got a YBR125 09 and when I am looking for parts on websites I cant find parts for newer than 08. Can anyone tell me why this is and if the parts for an 08 are the same as the 09 model. I am looking for a chain, is it a good idea to get a "heavy duty" one? Cheers

Ok here goes, well I'm new to the whole bike scene so still trying to find me feet. Speaking of feet today i bought s brand new pair of rst boots which look great BUT! This is where I need some guidance, I went for a quick ride to try them out but just can't get on with them. I really struggle to change up, it's like my foot won't bend from the peg to get under the leaver to change gear! I can't feel the leaver with my foot either as it has reinforced toes, so sometimes I think I've changed up but haven't. Is this a typical newbie error or do I just have to give it time for my to get used to them? They were £100 so I don't want to think I am just throwing money away. …
