Ho! fellow Yam lovers, I have this weird problem that's proving difficult to diagnose. Sometimes and ONLY sometimes I hear this awful yowling noise from my XJ600. The reason I say it's difficult to diagnose is that it disappeares when you go below 50mph and as I'm sure you'll agree you can't really hear much but wind above 50mph (well, not MY wind anyways). However, I was travelling home late last night and I heard the noise and had a look down and noticed that the speedo light was glowing dull then normal; unusual as all the other clocks didn't vary. Whenever I dipped below 50, the clock light became normal and the sound vanished. Could this be a noisey speedo cable prob…

I'm trying to rustle up some interest in racing the TZ 350 in the ICGP - we still have to find some cash to make the first round in Spain. Loads of people are always searching Ebay for bike and racing related stuff, so to catch their eye and use Ebay as a promotional tool I've put up the chance to be a supporter as an Ebay item. Click here to see it. Includes of short video of our recent test at Brands. However, if you do want to support our ICGP race efforts, you can do it direct via my website and that'll save me the Ebay fees! Cheers. Mike.

Hello everyone, there have been several posts on the forum asking about replacing the YBR125's feeble headlight (mine's a '56 plate for the record)yet none of them seem to have been resolved as to whether the result was better, so i thought, as my halogen replacement should be installed within the week i'd post one that will be resolved If anyone has upgraded their lights on any Yamaha then feel free to discuss (p.s gladly, the headlight on the YBR only needs 3 screws removed to access, on my piaggio 50cc, it would have been about 20!)

Hey there, I'm new to this site so please forgive me if I screw up this posting. I have just purchased a 1986 radian with aprox 27,000 miles on it, it runs great and pulls hard but it has a knocking sound coming from the engine when at idle when cold. once it warms up and is at proper idle speed the knock goes away. You can aslo make the sound go away when cold if you give it just a little gas to bring the idle up. Does anybody have any ideas about the cause of this noise, I was thinking maybe timing chain slap or maybe low oil pressure, although the oil light does not come on? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, another week another worry! After getting the knocking sorted from the rear of my 'cat I have now noticed on the way into work this morning that there seems to be an extradorinary amount of white smoke coming from the exhaust. After trawling the internet I am getting conflicting advice, some say it could be head gasket/broken cylinder whilst others say it could just be oil being burt off. The oil was changed as part of a service I had done when the chain was replaced, could it be this at fault? Cant afford another huge repair :( Any ideas lads??

  8. Dear All My first post. Thanks for your posts on R1 fuse box, it helped me re-wire my bike after some fucker nicked it last week. Thank God for Tracker and the Essex police. However, my steering lock and ignition barrel are broken. So Im guessing new ones of those plus petrol cap and keys. Im not a mechanic, or technically minded. Just passionate about bikes. 1)Can someone tell me exactly which parts I need for my R1 07 to get it back on the road (as u can now start it with anything)? 2)Why cant I find these items on ebay/forums? There must be crashed bikes out there. 3)It didnt have an alarm, so im guessing no immobiliser. Could a thief like mine jump on, …

Hello, Was wondering if anybody could help me? I dropped my bike a couple of times last winter, and now the weathers cleared up a bit I was going to start getting it road ready The main problem I have is a fair few deep scrapes in the twin Exhuast pipes, and the rust to accomodate. Can anybody suggest somewhere to get some new (or good as) pipes? Many thanks, Chris

Long time lurker here... Love my Thundercat - great bike for commuting and the odd blat out into the countryside. However I have noticed over the last couple of days a very distinct knock has developed from somewhere near the middle/back of the bike, think it is only noticeable in 3rd gear - dont get much change to push it into 4th around town on the commute so cant be sure if its in all gears. Its a very rythmic knocking, speeds up with the bike and is slightly less noticeable as speed generates - possibly not enough revs?? Though never had the problem/not noticed it in nearly a year so far. Can feel the knock very low down, as said it feels as though its toward…

  15. Hey folks! Just wanted to mention that the Market Tavern in Stroud town centre, Gloucestershire is a biker friendly pub! The owner is a biker and the barman is a biker!! Anyway as summer is coming and many people will be out on their bikes!! they cater for any occasion and more importantly welcome anyone who favors 2 wheels over 4! It is an up-market pub with a well sized beer garden that has parking for up to about 30 bikes (I think!!) You could even park outside the front of the pub if you wanted to, However it does get busy from about 9am-2pm on a Saturday. A fantastic stop off point for anyone who wants some good English pub grub! They have rather distu…

hi all i bought my bike only last week and i love it but im stuck because my headlight bulb broke. i removed the screws holding the headlight in place, pulled out the light and removerd the rubber part on the back of the light to access the bulb. once i removed this i seen that the person i bought the bike off had used a wrong bulb and had copper wire jammed in the hole to make the connections so the bulb would work. since then i have ben looking for the right type of bulb i need but i cant seem to find it anywhere. apparently these bulbs are meant to be H4s but the bulb i need is like a bayonet type (like the ones used in the house) but this has 3 prongs rathe…

Hello all, I've just bought myself a cheap run around, it has a custom paint job on the tank.... someone has painted by hand a beautiful lady on the tank of this Yamaha FJ1200 1993. Does anyone know who may have done it (Long shot I know) and has it ever been owned by someone here on the forum.

  20. Right, I'm ready for the insanity to begin!! I have decided to keep the 2 rear side panels, rear one obviously as that's brand new!! and the front mudguard. I have been putting off the paint stripping for the past few weeks as I had no idea what would be good enough for it!! I am unsure of the paint effect I'm going for right now, I want to stick with a similar scheme but with I'm not certain... Metallic Blue flip with white accent? Marble midnight blue with white accent? I'm starting to think Blue to be honest but w/e... Fortunately I found out that there is pretty much the best paint stripper (£2-£3) in the world available at most super markets!! Fairy Power …
