I took my bike in for a chain and sprocket set change but when i went to pick the bike up it would not start! i left it with the garage and they said the CDI unit and generator etc was not giving any output, thus leaving me no choice but for them to send away the units for repair (something about re-wiring the generator/coil?) they said this happens on these machines ie: the units can just fail. It will be costing me £175 to get repaired has anyone else suffered from this on these bikes? Also i had done the "re-wire" from the speedometer to de-restrict it would that have caused the trouble? Any ideas/infomation would be much appreciated thank you

I live in a big old house which has been converted into three flats. I have been keeping my bike in the hallway but I asked my neighbours beforehand and they were fully understanding and had no problems at all with it. I've got home today and I've got a letter from the landlord wanting to speak to me about it, I know it's a fire hazard etc. I'm gutted now I'm going to have to keep it outside chained to a metal fence. It's going to be a sought after target for bike thieves.

Well as the title suggests, I am thinking of upgrading from my 1yr old XJ6 to an FZ8, as my local dealer are offering a pretty competitive deal and on 0% finance again. Wondered who has an FZ8 and if they can be honest about the good bits and bad bits. (I have also booked a test ride for 3 weeks time) just wanted others opinions too. Cheers in advance

What do you guys think about this? I've got a friend who's done this in the past to a yzf750. How easy is it, and what do you'll think to the body panel conversion? I'm considering it...

Bang smack in the middle of a very dodgy area my clutch cable snapped and I had to push my bike home, I swear I thought I was going to get my bike jacked! I know it seems like I'm winging every two minutes about bullshit but......... Do you think I could replace the cable myself or is it a difficult job? I really want to have a crack myself but don't have a clue or know what to expect.

Previously had a few bikes nicked so thought ide ask some advice bout security on a little DT125r, im thinking over night locked up with screaming alarm and chained to a wall mount. not too sure tho what brands to go for or any places to get a decent deal. brought a Xena screaming alarm prevously, but turned out to be a bit crap as one night some **** picked the bike up and walked off with it presumably. it was also chained with a squire chain, only a cheapish one but found that with a link cut. any ideas would be much appretiatedQQ

Hi ... I've go a problem with what I think are the 1st 2 cylinders of my bike, they are either over fueling or not getting proper spark to burn the fuel properly. I believe my carbs are functioning properly so I am thinking it maybe an electrical issue .The middle and left spark plugs are very wet with fuel, the right plug seems to be burning very clean. Almost since new, once in a whlie I would have a starting issue and would have to fiddle with the wiring harness near where it goes from the steering column to the engine . Could this be where my problem could be or is there another electrical spot I should be checking out .. ?

As a new rider I have realised over the past few weeks just how dangerous the wind can be. I've been nearly blown over on my bike more than once now. I can't believe how bad it is, and to be honest it proper made my heart race. Today I was doing about 50 and I nearly got clean blown over by the wind, some scary shit.

I was going to use some Quicksilver Power Tune to clean out the carburetor; the first step is to remove the air filter. Which would be easy - if I knew where it was. I bought the bike used and have no manual. Where is the air filter, how do I remove it, and what tools do I need? Thanks!

The headlight on my 1972 G7S was burned out when I bought it. It's a sealed beam lamp and the part is no longer available. A guy at NW Vintage Cycle Parts said people are using the headlight from a 1968 YG5T. My original headlight is a 6V/15W and the replacement is a 12V/25W. Is that going to cause problems? Also, when I checked my battery I found a clear tube in the battery compartment. The tube is not hooked up to anything. It was just threaded through the compartment. I haven't found any mention of it in either the rider's manual or the Clymer manual. Does anyone here know what it might be? Thanks!

I've just brought a 2001 yamaha DT125r. the guy i brought it from has said he's been told by a mechanic that the crank seals have gone and need replacing, runs alright, abit noisy but thinking that might be due to holes in the exhaust, a freinds managed to get a clean one for me so going to fit that when it arives. apparently it hasnt long had a full engine re build, ive got some pictures showing this so unsure why he's saying this. is there any way of checking this without taking too much of the engine appart?

  17. Hi all Tried to replace the rear light unit, only the two bolts hoding it to rear mudguard have seized. Have you any tips for me to remove the old, make-do light? I'll try to preserve it and sell it on. I thought about using a 'cutting' file - think it would take ages but how do I protect the mudguard? Thanks in anticipation. I.L.

Hello all.. I'm new here. There is an 82 Virago 500 sitting in the gargae thats been there about 12 years.. My parrents HAD been driving since it was new.. At some point in time the thing started losing spark.. My dad said the coils were bad.. (geting hot and shorting out) I end up buying it a couple days ago... I checked my spark.. And it appears I am only getting spark randomly on the front cylinder.. Not an overhreating coil.. It fires.. Then it doesn't.. So I decided to swap the wires that run to the coils.. And instantly the front jug was fixed and the rear starting missing.. So... It's obviously gotta be something ELSE in the system.. Like a pickup in the mot…

HI all, Now first of all I AM NOT offering cheap insurance so read on and find out why you should be careful of those that do! I am a LOT older than some of you and as such when working on the bike in the garage I listen to the wireless (radio to you youngsters) and today I heard that there is a new scam out there young riders should be aware of, if you look for cheap insurance and find a cracking deal be aware that some scum bags are offering really low rates for young driver/riders who are in fact NOT registered with the insurance bureau (THE MIB) that's not men in black but "Members of the Insurance Bureau", it's really important that you check that your broker/de…

Just got myself a shiny new diversion 600F. Very pleased with it. I have always had a Haynes style manual for all of my bikes, but can't find similar one, assume that is because it is too new. Anyone know of a similar one.
