This is my first time facing snow/icy weather but I plan on riding through it, if the weather isn't too severe that is. After my first fall (video below) just the other day - which was completely rider error as you can hear the over-revving just before I came off - I'm having some doubts whether it's possible to ride in these conditions no matter how aware and careful you are. So I'm wondering how many of you ride through the winter time and who puts their bikes away. Would also love to hear some tips I also bought a can of these Tyre Grip sprays which has great reviews so I'll be trying that out. The first fall - no damage to the bike, the foot peg and break ped…

A southern meet has been mentioned several times over the year. Right oh. Lets have some options and see if we can make it real. Dont want the coast. Nor that crap hole of a capitol either. Merv how far could you take one of your fleet, you are one of our most southern members. Realisticly there will only be bout a dozen of us so there are plenty of campsites to use all over the country. Maybe someone knows something squires ish around oxford maybe. Lets have some idea's

Well peeps, im starting this thread early as i will be working over xmas and away shortly in the new year. at the moment it looks like the calenders are coming from vistaprint and will cost around £10 for a wall calender or £6 for a desk calender, if you order any other YOC merchandise at the same time you will get a postage discount (please pm with your requirements and i can get you a quote). postage overseas or to islands will cost more. i may be able to find a local company who is able to do it cheaper although i cant tell for sure probably until the new year VOTING: now, here's how it works, at the top of the page you will see a poll (once artwork has bee…

Heya peeps, Ive finally got my arse into some sort of gear and started work on the DT50 restoration, the tank that came with the bike was in good condition but had some dents and chips in it, aswell as rust on the inside although it doesnt seem to be too bad, i was planning to chemically treat the inside but its expensive, non-original and i dont think the tank is that bad that it requires it to hold liquid. I read an article sometime ago where a guy used vinegar to clean the inside of his fireblade tank, and also how i used to clean model aircraft engines back in my yoof, so for £4 i bought 8 bottles of distilled vinegar from tescos (each just under 600ml) and put t…

The Biker test.. Midnight bugs taste best. Saddlebags can never hold everything you want, but they CAN holdeverything you need. NEVER argue with a woman holding a torque wrench. Never try to race an old Geezer, he may have one more gear than you. Home is where your bike sits still long enough to leave a few drops ofoil on the ground. You'll get farther down the road if you learn to use more than twofingers on the front brake. Routine maintenance should never be neglected It takes more love to share the saddle than it does to share the bed. The only good view of a thunderstorm is in your rearview mirror. Never be afraid to slow down. Only Bikers understand why d…

When I turn the handlebars on my 2008 xt125r the headlight flashes. When the bike is on the light comes on automatically which is normal, but when I turn the bike the light dims. I have taken all the instrument panel off and there is no wiring problems/bare wires etc anyone got any ideas. Also the neutral indication light on the dash (blue light) has also disappeared. Don't know if this is part of the same problem. Thanks in advance for any ideas or help.

So I scan my local craigslist on occasion for a second DT to buy since I've been in and out of mine after a couple rebuilds and I figure I could whip one back into shape without all the head scratching/banging involved with my first one. This morning I spotted this: http://carbondale.craigslist.org/mcy/3509468340.html 2x 1978 DT 175s for $500. One runs, the other in parts. Here's my dilemma: I have $500 in my pocket right now, BUT I need to use it to pay down my university bill, otherwise I can't register, get my graduate degree, get a job, and make money. I could always just put the tuition on a credit card and use the cash for "just one more bike". An…

hey guys, first of all hope your all having a good christmas, but more to the point my Yamaha TZR 50 03 plate will not start at all, it had the same problemb a couple days ago it cut out and wouldnt start so i checked the voltage and everything was as it should be, then i bumped it and it worked, the next day i was riding back from work and it stalled on me as i was taking a turn, so i tried to bump it again and noting, checked the tank it was empty, so i filled up and left it over night in my shed, then morning came and absolutly nothing, i know the starter motor is gone so no electric start but it still should bump but no luck. recently fitted: New Spark Plug New…

I'm a new rider so this is a whole new level for me. I've watched a few filtering tips and guides on youtube (by sensible riders) and have been attempting on stationary traffic - when necessary and safe - to get to the front of the lights. Two months on and I've managed to clip two wing mirrors, latest being just last week. The second time it happened, I knew it was too narrow but I had committed so I ended up squeezing through only to fail miserably. Both times I pulled up on to the side of the road and apologised, they were both women drivers and after checking there were no serious damage we parted ways. I guess I've been lucky so far to not have any claims made a…

Hello, I recently purchaced a 1999 DT 125 R. I have had it serviced and have had fresh tires and a new expansion pipe. The old one had been eaten through by rust and so was blowing. This is where the problem lies. I left the garage and allowed it time to warm up properly and took it for a spin. It lost all its low and medium end power and hits a powerband at around 8k revs. It feels slower and is difficult to keep in the power. I went on the dual carriageway to see if it would pull through each gear and see what it tops out at. The top speed went from 81 with the derestricted stock pipe down to 71 with the new exhaust. When I change into 6th gear from 5th at 10k rev…

hi.. Just bought a TDR250 and looking for someone to re-build the engine......its only done 8,000 miles, but been standing for 17 years in a dry garage... So, I want the crank-seals and the other seals renewed, and possibly needs pistons, or just rings....don't know! Don't want it tuned, just standard....... Also, I want to paint the head/barrels/crankcases......... Looking for someone who maybe works from home who is a 2 stroke nut, or ex-racer etc. Stan Stephens looks very expensive.... I'm nearish to Gatwick, but willing to travel...... Any ideas? ( pm me if you wish?) thanks, Richard
