well people ive been looking around for something with a little more hp and ive been looking some more, now i stumbled across a thread about the athena 170cc a few people gave some reviews of this kit and they seem to sound positive. (i also know a company on westgate road newcastle who said they would dial my carb in for £15) most said you dont gain much in the way of topend but its more low down and mid, so in essence you can use 6th gear and it actually pulls... im guessing that if the bottome end can handle it this would be a decent little upgrade - the price of £400 is a little steep but im getting sick of my little bike slowing down going uphill i would jus…

  8. This is my first time facing snow/icy weather but I plan on riding through it, if the weather isn't too severe that is. After my first fall (video below) just the other day - which was completely rider error as you can hear the over-revving just before I came off - I'm having some doubts whether it's possible to ride in these conditions no matter how aware and careful you are. So I'm wondering how many of you ride through the winter time and who puts their bikes away. Would also love to hear some tips I also bought a can of these Tyre Grip sprays which has great reviews so I'll be trying that out. The first fall - no damage to the bike, the foot peg and break ped…

A southern meet has been mentioned several times over the year. Right oh. Lets have some options and see if we can make it real. Dont want the coast. Nor that crap hole of a capitol either. Merv how far could you take one of your fleet, you are one of our most southern members. Realisticly there will only be bout a dozen of us so there are plenty of campsites to use all over the country. Maybe someone knows something squires ish around oxford maybe. Lets have some idea's

  10. Well peeps, im starting this thread early as i will be working over xmas and away shortly in the new year. at the moment it looks like the calenders are coming from vistaprint and will cost around £10 for a wall calender or £6 for a desk calender, if you order any other YOC merchandise at the same time you will get a postage discount (please pm with your requirements and i can get you a quote). postage overseas or to islands will cost more. i may be able to find a local company who is able to do it cheaper although i cant tell for sure probably until the new year VOTING: now, here's how it works, at the top of the page you will see a poll (once artwork has bee…

after doing a topend rebuld on my little dt125r i fitted some carbon reeds and refitted the snorkel while i was at it took her out for a run and she wouldnt go past the 4,000rpm sounded like there wasnt enough air getting to her so i pulled the snorkel back off and she went fine until 6-7k rpm same sound (she has been well run in now) i have never seen the point in all these holes drilled in air boxes but i couldnt think of any thing else so i drilled out 4 holes the size of 1 pence coins now she runs up to the redline just sounds soooo bloody loud!! any ideas why with a change of topend she would need more air? and will this be ok? cheers ken

  13. Heya peeps, Ive finally got my arse into some sort of gear and started work on the DT50 restoration, the tank that came with the bike was in good condition but had some dents and chips in it, aswell as rust on the inside although it doesnt seem to be too bad, i was planning to chemically treat the inside but its expensive, non-original and i dont think the tank is that bad that it requires it to hold liquid. I read an article sometime ago where a guy used vinegar to clean the inside of his fireblade tank, and also how i used to clean model aircraft engines back in my yoof, so for £4 i bought 8 bottles of distilled vinegar from tescos (each just under 600ml) and put t…

The Biker test.. Midnight bugs taste best. Saddlebags can never hold everything you want, but they CAN holdeverything you need. NEVER argue with a woman holding a torque wrench. Never try to race an old Geezer, he may have one more gear than you. Home is where your bike sits still long enough to leave a few drops ofoil on the ground. You'll get farther down the road if you learn to use more than twofingers on the front brake. Routine maintenance should never be neglected It takes more love to share the saddle than it does to share the bed. The only good view of a thunderstorm is in your rearview mirror. Never be afraid to slow down. Only Bikers understand why d…

When I turn the handlebars on my 2008 xt125r the headlight flashes. When the bike is on the light comes on automatically which is normal, but when I turn the bike the light dims. I have taken all the instrument panel off and there is no wiring problems/bare wires etc anyone got any ideas. Also the neutral indication light on the dash (blue light) has also disappeared. Don't know if this is part of the same problem. Thanks in advance for any ideas or help.
