I start with a copy of my last post from the 'newbie' forum. This relates to the theft of a YZ80 and YZ125, form their garage a couple weeks ago. I've had a look round some web sites, spoken to a few mates. Like kenDAWG says, there are lots of stories out there like this one. Not just in this country, but all over the world. The official response seems to be the same, " Sorry to hear about your loss, but there's little we can do". But what about us? We hear another sad tale, then go off to the shed to make sure our pride and joy is still there. Smile at the sight of gleaming metal, then lock and bolt the door as we leave. I'm good, no problem here. Then someon…

Hello all, Ive just bought an '05 DT125re yesterday. And I have 2 questions I need help with; First being am i correct in thinking that the choke lever pushed down is the choke on? second being a little more 'techy'. sometimes the bike dies when at tick over. not instantly but just fades out after about 10-15 seconds. From what i know the bike was serviced and MoT'd last month so I'm assuming it is nothing major but I also know that the bike hasnt really been used over the past 6 months. Ive read a little bit into it and apprently it could be a build up for gunk in the carb? easily solved by taking it apart and giving it a good clean. Is this an easy job to …

I just picked up a 1981 DT 175. I haven't got it running yet. Cleaned out the old gas and freed up the slide in the carb. The carb looked pretty clean. Compression was 120. The petcock was pretty cruddy. I ordered a new one. I assume this is gravity fed on this bike. thenks steve k

Hi peeps. Ive come to a realisation, ive been here for 3 years atleast and still have not travelled a great distance for recreation on a bike, i used to post about going to ireland for a week when i was riding the DT but in reality i doubt the old donkey would have got me there and back on one set of piston rings. i now have a fireblade, am out of the country until march and will be moving to wolverhampton in april, during which i have 4 weeks off work. so, where is the best place to go?, may be like asking a blind man to tell you what the colour blue looks like but even so i want to get away for a week or so, i will need to take kit appropriate to the climate…

Braked too hard and the wheel locked and went form underneath me, luckily im fine and the bike cosmetically is pretty good, however.. when i start it up it goes straight to about 2 and a half thousand revs just standing still.. which is slightly worrying, im clueless about bikes so be easy on me lol. i just wanted to know what you guys think the problem is.. Also theres a tiny hole just below my foot peg on my exhaust, am i right in thinking thats a drain hole? Thanks.

waaaaaaaahhhhh The dt blew up wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhb. 50mph running great and quick nip and then brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Anybody with a 2 stroke knows the noise. Compression is gone. You cant tell its in nutral save for the brrrrr noise as you push, nothing at all. Think the piston has gone religeous. Waiting for the man with a van now. Least its not raining.

I usually do not write a mean e-mail like the one that was here and after reading it I do not want it posted anymore but after being nice for so long with no positive results and being ignored every person has a point where they say enough is enough. I was not mad at first because everybody makes mistakes but when you are lied to and you have to find out on your own that someone is pulling a fast one on you that hurts. Like I said Mr. Smeeton is probalby a nice guy to you but not to me. They were ignoring me that is why I wrote that e-mail, then I got a reply. It is possible with older motorcycles that it could have different parts on it from different motorcycles but…

Will changing the sprokets help me go up hills better ? My ybr struggles getting up the big hilpl when coming home from work but it is fine on the flat and down hills but will not go over 40 ish on this bank and as its a 60 mph road I look a right div LOL is thee a way to make this improve ? I have spoken to a lad at work about this and he said he changed his on his old ybr , what he didw was add ane extra tooth on the front and what that did was make it faster on the flat but made his fifth gear non existent but that would be no good for me,is there a way to do what I'm looking for ?

I took all my electrics off the bike to do maintenance and cleaning and now everything is back together. The headlight and sidelight is not working. Everything else works fine. The battery for the bike doesn't charge but it will charge enough to run full power for 20 mins or so could this be the reason the head light/side light aren't powering up. I don't think it is wiring problem. More than likely the bulbs are gone could i test by using rear bulb for headlight i'm guessing its a bad idea but let me know. Cheers for help
