  1. What you want to do will work ,even if I know the float height is set correct I alwasy bench test the carbs befor installing try to duplicate the same angle they fit/sit at on the bike. And use the gas tank set on a bench above the carbs so you are getting the same fuel supply and weight of fuel But a slice said it could be that the float needle and seat are worn out any signs of wear some are viton tiped others are just steel so look very closely at the tip of the needle if you can see wear then replace them with genuine parts some of the copy stuff is crap and will leak worse. EDIT just re read your post skip the last part as you changed them unless you used copy parts
  2. I'm lost why can't you just pay the 90 to the gov and do the test,if you know how to ride then it shouldn't be hard to pass. I mean is there different rules for riding a bigger bike? A bike is a bike if you can ride a 125 then in 5 min you should be able to get used to a 600, on free ride days put on by the dealers I have ridden 8 different bikes in one day everything from a 250 enduro to a 1800 crusier. so whats with all this extra fees?
  3. EBC are good ,barnett alot of the time you have to change the steel plates as well as they run 1 extra and all are thinner. If your spring are still good and the steels arent warped then you can replace just the fibers alot cheaper than replace everything, you might get lucky and be able to reuse the gasket but I would get one for what they cost.
  4. well done Bippo, for a relitivly new rider your becoming quite the seasond rider and to do it on that bike hats off to you lots of "riders " out there who barly manage that in a season.
  5. This problem has come up before unfortunatly they never came back with a soloution, other than parking in the shade or covering the tank with a towel. As slice said check all connection esp the fuel pump relay, if the relay has anythiing to do with the activation of the light sorry don't have a wireing s diagram to help you.
  6. Ok you kids never got slaped fine, I never beat my kids just a wake up call now and then ,,,,, with all the fucking little brats running around now ,,me thinks some of them could have used a slap now and then.. Might not be so many in reform school if the parents had done thier job in the first place, instead of sending them to school and let them sort them with no abilitly to inforce rules. My son is a good kid and I only have to look at him now and he knows what I mean . When we need to have a talk it is always no yelling alowed it a dissucssion I would never beat him that dosent work but a tap/slap in the back of head does. after all he is 14 and been in a few fights He can have fucking corn flakes or eggs for breakfest if he want's just depend's on how he say's it if he is in trouble. He knows better than to ask for things in certian company like that. To this I heard a good one the other day.......a guy standing in line a burger king had a kid screaming at his mother and kicking her for a apple pie in line behind him............. so when he got to order.... he orderd all 24 apple pie's they had and left with them all so the fucking little brat didn't get one LMAO
  7. And to totaly mess you up the pilot jet also effect's the wide open throttle mix of fuel and air. It play's a very small part but does effect the over all mix at wide open throttle. So yet again I will say for a street bike best to run it a we bit fat/rich and find a failrey even mix, your never going to get a 2t twin to run smooth at 3500k rpm to 4000k and not hunting for revs. Instead of having a boost bottle they opted to use the joined ballence tube from both intakes to try and even out the back pressure between the 2 cylinders,,, and the rd 350 suffers for lacking a power valve for mid range performance below 5k rpm,,,, as 5 k is the ideal mid range for your bike. KEV if you want to jump in and tell him how a 81- 82 rd 350 runs now would be a good time,,, IE ride it like you stole it and rev the duck out of it all the time afer the break in ! I am going to leave it at this if you keep fucking with you jetting without doing some deep research your going to blow your bike up long before you you get the jetting right if you keep riding it,and Thats why I won't build a 2t for anyone unless I break in the motor and am involve in the cleaning and setting on the carbs, and why 2t got such and bad rap for blowing up. To many people who have no idea as to how to set them up and drive them thinking " it runs so all must be ok" and fiddel with shit they know noting about. You haven't even done a plug chop to know where you stand on the mix and have no base point to start from to know where to go from. Instead of creating many threads of how to help you get your bike set up keep them all in one, having the spring off the oil pump durring break in would have had it rich some times and who knows all the important info,,,,,, your jumping at straws and I have tried to help you,and others won't have read that so how can they help you when they don't know all the details?
  8. The only help I think anyone can give you is that there is a reason why, like mounting pionts ,clearence issues ect..so if the seller's are stipulating certian years then there is a reason
  9. No loud pipes for me thanks I like the stealth of bein able to go faster than it sounds I am going. I live close to a very popular road (very twisty) and I can hear the guys who are flying through and I am sure the cops can too. Also my road is a link road to the beach so i get loads of bikes and big ride outs going past and when 200 F,N hardly tractors with pipes go by I have to adjust all the pictures, you would need some good ear plugs to ride with them and in a large pack they sound like shit. I can hear them 10 min befor they get here When I was younger it didnt bother me riding with a pipe and others with pipes, now if I ride with someone with a pipe I make them ride to my left and behind me .The last thing I want to hear is the same loud drone for hours on end. Imo the only reason to put a pipe on is if you have done everyother mod to you bike to increase the HP and the pipe is restricting it.

It's been a long road now it's time to find out if it was worth it all. Be waiting to hear what you think Tommy your done for this year trying to keep up at squires LOL unless you sell the 400's and get that fj1200.
  11. Only 3-5psi so you dont seal the valve with air pressure if its a week/broken spring. And your right about wfo. Airhead is Paul we had some post up on here and got to be a mess so he cleaned them up and in the process accidentaly deleted my thread about leak down testing. By the sound of all your testing and still comming up empty sure sounds like a valve isuse, these motors eat valves/springs now you have the factory manual it shows how to check for bent/saged springs and if you look the service interval is only 10 hrs 6 races or 600kms,if you have gone well past this then it's time to open her up anyway. Rings ,springs, valves + shims and a head gasket gona run you a grand. The only other thing I can think of is if yours is equipted with the auto decompression cam then it might be sticking ,the pin should retract as soon as the motor starts ,you can check it by having the pin off the valve and move the spring loaded weight arm on the end of the exhaust cam sprocket. But that would not be back firing but firing out the exhaust.
  12. Airhead I agree it's some what normal to have oil on the plate but to have it on the tire seems a bit excessive to me,can you up load a picture of the tire/plate after a ride DAN? You will have to use a picture host( photo bucket ,drop box ect..) to do so.Then we could tell if it's normal or excessive.
  13. If your not loosing gear oil then check your injection pump isn't stuck in full stroke. I wouldn't put the new exhaust on till you sort this as it will only get full of oil as well. pull the pacing out and burn the pipe clean and put new packing in the can first could just be the pipe is loaded up from years of not beeing serviced
  14. do a leak down test with 3-5 psi of compressed air and listen to the air box throttle wfo motor a tdc or bdc,you can make one out of a old spark plug by knocking out the center and welding a fitting on or get a compression tester hose from snapon or mack that has the fitting allready on,even better is to get a leak down tester. Ok paul dont mess with this LOL
  15. What bike you choose is up to you but don't buy a Keep Taking Money, the service intervals are crazy and parts are dear, everyone I have known that owned one was never so happy to sell them.
  16. You don't have to open the chain once the swing arm is free from the frame you can move it to get it out
  17. Tell them you will put them in the worst old age home you can find when they get old LOL Just kidding sorry about your luck kid but in a few more years you can move out and get one then and you will love it.
  18. Mc thats the nature of the beast if you try to rollon the power in 6th at 3500 it's going to be like wet toast, soggie, you have to adjust your riding style to suite a 350 2t. If you want to get up and go kick it back 2 gears and the power will be there. Any thing much below 5 k and the bike is not even starting to work they are happiest between 5 and 9k rpm they beg to be reved. All the tuning in the world wont fix what your complaining about thats why yamaha put the power valve on in 83. If you tune it to run at 3500 then it wont run right at 9000. Have you done a plug chop to see where you are on the rich lean scale? All you need to do is get the mix right so you don't hole a piston or size it up then adjust your riding style.
  19. The best part is he has alinated himself from both crowds the Hardly riders are laughing at him and so are the rest of us.If he parks it in the wrong place some offended Hardly rider will kick it over.I'm not sayin all harley riders are dicks but there are enough of them that sooner or later he is going to get beat up by a die hard hardly guy who will take great offence . I wonder if he thinks he is fooling anyone?
  20. 43 mpg down hill with the wind to your back, rider weight 80lbs maybe 30 is about right of all the rd/rz's I had never had one do better than 30 ish normaly less cause I beat them all the time, they are such great wheelie bikes
  21. Not realy just when my mind gets taken to bent places it runs amuck
  22. That was bent but I still laughed thinking why would someone do it? And how bent they are to think it up. Foams you would go more insane when wraped in you anti self molesting suit traped in a room with katie wearing a hospital gown ,the ones that never close in the back quite right.
