Hello from sunny South Oxfordshire, first time on a forum so please be gentle... I recently picked up an FZR1000 Genesis (1988 black) as I'm getting a bit too old and tired of kicking over reluctant British iron! so going back to my youth... hoping I can pick your collective brains on getting it sorted. Cheers Don't have a photo of it yet so is one of the Commando okay?

  3. Greetings all, from sunny Derbyshire, I look forward to chatting to you, and who knows possibly meeting up in the real world. I've just bought a XVS1100 Dragstar Custom after a long long time riding big tourers - blimey what a change 🤨 So, be prepared for me picking all of your brains as to best bits, bobs, and tinkering to carry out. Cheers all Keep it shiny side up Red

Hello everyone and thanks for adding me to the owners club. I currently own a 1980 Yamaha DT175mx amongst bikes of other makes who will not be mentioned on this forum! Looking forward to hearing from owners and picking your brains too. Thank you. Steve.

I have just purchased my first bike, a Yamaha XJ550 Maxim (1981 yr). It is missing all its carburettors. I am having difficult in finding Yamaha carbs as replacement. Can anyone recommend how I go about buying a new set of carbs and how I tell which sets would fit the bike? Thanks

Hi everyone, just thought I'd introduce myself. Just bought an 82' XS 250 not starting so will be asking lots of questions soon. Once I get it running I hope to clean it up and get it into some sort of reasonable shape. My first ever bike was a XS 500 and that was 30 years ago, so just dipping my feet into the water again as regards bikes. Cheers.

Hi folks, Thought I'd introduce myself as a new member. I'm living in Cornwall and just settling in for a winter season with the bike in the workshop again. I've a 1973 TX500 with a Cafe Racer look. I renewed the electrics last winter, fitting one of those fancy Moto gadget black box things. This year I'm going to attempt to fix some mechanical problems like balancer chain and carb rebuild. Hope to find a wealth of knowledge here to help me and pass on any information I've learnt myself. Thanks.

Hi, just joined the Y O C , used to have British bikes, mainly Norton but they are just so expensive now. Bought a couple of very rough old xs250 s, looking forward to sorting them out so I'll probably be looking for parts and advice. Take care all.

Morning everyone, Just in the process of getting back into the bike I had as a kid, Yammy rd50mx. I had a 1/4 share of a bike with 3 other mates as only one of us was allowed to have a bike haha. So now have a 1984 black bike as a small project as the money is doing nothing in the bank and the bike will be more fun for a while. Hopefully there will be a Rd50 owners meet somewhere in North Wales at some point. Cheers for now Mark

  15. I’ve picked up a Diversion XJ-F with 17k on the clock. The Divvy was looking a bit rough, a bit neglected and in sore need of some pennies invested. All is done and I have a very smart looking bike, a quick check online reveals I have a boring commuter bike only worthy of a few trips down the bypass and nothing more! I am amazed because I only use bikes for fun and only travel straight roads if no other routes are available and this little Yamaha does not disappoint! Admittedly it needs a little encouragement but keep the motor between 7k and the limiter and she pops along very nicely indeed. The front brake needs a good pull but the rear is great and the gearbox is super…

Hi I’m new to biking let alone Yamaha 😬😬. I started on a Yamaha ys 125, I’ve now passed and bought ( Thro sound advice from a bike enthusiast colleague ) an 18 year old immaculate Yamaha FZS 600 with lots of extras on it. I’m using a motorbike now purely for commuting to a new job, that has ever tool I will ever need on site, so no longer need to use a family minibus ( 6 kids and we foster 😳😳) there are a couple of things that make me a little uneasy as a new rider, im not the tallest guy in the world, and whilst im not at full tiptoe, I would prefer to have my feet flat on the ground. I put my left foot down the other day and happened to be in a dip compared to the…

Hi all, Currently in the later stages of my first build, turning an XS250 into a street tracker. Hoping all the knowledge on here will help me get the thing running after scratching my head for the last month as to why it won’t start. Thanks Paul
