Hi guys, My first time using this forum. I have an XJ900F and when I turn the ignition on (without the motor running), The tacho immediately swings around to full revs and then hovers around the 8,000rpm mark. There is also a buzzing sound coming from under the tank. The motor won't start, but was running fine previously.

  4. Im new to this site and looking for my first big bike (well, big-ish). I was initially looking at a 400 but they are quite rare now and quite old. But the cbr 400 sounds amazing. The bikes i have been looking at are the Yamaha FZR600, Suzuki Bandit 600, Yamaha Thundercat 600 and a few others, I'm not after a crazy sports bike, just something better to get me to work (20 miles away) and something to go for a play on at the weekends and the shows (builth wells etc). Any suggestions or advice on choosing a first bike will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Matt

  6. Hello, I'm new on here (obviously!!) I came across this site whilst trawling the web as I'm in need of replacing the exhaust on my xv535 and cannot find any reviews or much info on exhausts to buy. I've come across maybe 4 models but there isn't any indication even on if they're road legal! Any help or ideas would be welcome from anyone who has experienced having to buy an exhaust etc. I want something to remain smart looking and not discolour but also sound good without being ridiculously loud it won't pass the MOT. Cheers!

I have had a lic. all my life but have not been on a bike for say 45 yrs. Even then it was for but a few short rides on gravel... a small Suzuki from memory. Cheers

Hi everyone, Just joined the site as its about time to get the 950 Midnight Star out on the road again and thought I should say hi. I am currently considering if I should self install a set of Hard Saddle Bags, Trunk, Engine Bars, Spot Lights, Batwing Fairing, Auto Com and powerpoints in the Trunk.... OR... to have someone else do it for me. I did a few small things on the VN900 before I traded it for the Star last summer and had the above parts shipped from the USA. It doesn't look like I need a lot of tools, but I'm concerned about the drilling of the fiber glass saddle bags and trunk (think thats what they are made from). Also need to think if I want to ta…

  14. Hi All Firstly wanted to say Hi! Just joined and feeling a bit guilty about posting a question straight away! Im currently bound to a shed in Nottinghamshire scratching my head to discover why the bike I bought only two weeks ago and run fine now will not start! All started Saturday... I had stripped panels of my xtz660 to give everything a good clean before passing my test and getting ready to ride! Passed in the week so I was set to rebuild Sat and get my first ride on my new toy :-) Everything back... no spark ? :-( I hadn't disconecting anything but battery and cdi unit. Getting power to lights indicators etc... bike turns over but wont give a spark Im…

Hi to all, Its good to find a site that I can get some advise. I have just purchased a 2001 XVS650 Dragstar (My first Yam) It came with Raask 2" Pipes. I think the previous owner has used the stock front header pipe to fit them because the pipe looks older and its holed at the front, this was well hidden from me when I bought the bike with some filler and silver spray. GREAT eh? anyway im stuck with it now. Anyone know where I can get a very cheap replacement????

  17. Hi All, I am in Pakistan. My father bought Japan assembled YB 100 in 1984. I love this bike; my childhood partner. I want to keep this bike in top running condition and as well as in top shape ie body-wise. I am not able to do so, that is why I joined this group. People here were asking me to buy honda now but I refused. I have got new parts of engine and remoulded ie repaired the engine covering as it was throwing up some oil into the piston chamber and also oil was dripping from it. It runs very fine and oil consumption is good, but the problem is what I have posted in workbench forum. Oil pump is not working and therefore I am putting oil in t…

My name is Andrew and i am from kent, uk i am on a restricted licence with 11 months to go before i can ride bigger bikes! i have a yamaha 88/89 fzr 400 exup that i really enjoy, she done a lot of miles so im restricting to ride on good days and planning to make her smart in coming months, as the condition is deterioating a bit. i must admit i did plan to sell her but every time i take the cover off to clean i couldnt do it. so she staying with me for a long time i hope. also i have a kawasaki gpz 305 which i use as a commuter nice bike but not as good as the yamaha, poor build quality i would say but very good on fuel in times like this. this is only reason. ha…
