As the title says greetings, just to introduce myself. After 30+ years returned to two wheels, made the mistake of not doing my test back then when I had my RD. Born, live and work in the Bolton area, married for as long as I can remember. Now have four kids, well two are not so much kids now, ages 20, 17, 12 and 10. For the last 18 months been riding a YZF R125 and loved every minute of it. Use the bike as my every day mode of transport as I got sick of the cost and agro of four wheels, leave that to her indoors now. I eventualy got round to doing my DAS a few weeks ago, just got to say a big thank you to Mike, Paul and the crew from Williams MC Training at the ba…

Hi All I have not long bought myself a 2009 YBR and I had read that the headlights are not very good on the bike. I looked for alternatives to the HiD conversion and was told to try some osram night breakers or racers so i opted for the night racers. They came today (and I might be being a bit thick here) they have a totally different fitting to the ones in the bike. I was lead to believe it was a straight swap over from the standard to the night riders. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know this sounds pathetic but i have just blown my last 12 quid on these bulbs and as they are from ebay I doubt I'll have much luck returning them. Thanks

So I recently picked up a 82 Maxim/XJ650. It had a bulb that was out on my rear right blinker when I got it. I replaced the bulb and went on my first ride tonight. Half way through the ride I noticed that when I'd hit my right turn signal, my front bulb would stay on solid and the back was out again. Guessing there might be a short someone or something along those lines. Fuses all look good. Not that bulbs are expensive but it's a waste to replace any more without fixing the issue at hand. Any advice is welcome. Thanks

Hi, I have just bought a 1976 RD350, yellow and black, Kenny Roberts racing colours. I have always wanted an RD250E, but when I saw this RD250, with 350 barrels and pistons, I couldn't resist. Will pick the bike up in June and drive it to Spain. Cheers, Keith.

Hi, I have a yamaha aerox YQ50, when i bought it, it has a standard exhaust on it, a few weeks later the exhaust blew and i had it replaced for a Leo Vince TT. Since then the bike has had a problem, when I slow down and get to around 5-10mph and accelerate again, the bike will bog down for about 20 seconds until it shoots off again, I have had the bike in the garage and the following had been checked: > Clutch and variation has been stripped, cleaned and checked > New rollers as the ones that came with my Leo Vince TT where not compatible with my bike > Throttle and Carb had been tuned and cleaned > The spark plug has been changed The mec…

Hi everyone.I am a good few years old and so are my bikes. My interests are DIY and bikes. I wonder if someone can help me with the problem mentioned in the topic. 1st of all ,the ampage being drawn on ignition is 2.8 amps, 2nd the ampage being drawn with starter pressed is 6.8 amps 3rd voltage drops as low as 6volts to the CDI unit The bike starts if you stab the starter, obviously not letting the voltage drop to such a low voltage level All earths have been replaced and connectors checked cleaned and checked for continuity. I know the bike is 21 years old but as a wise man once said to me "Every problem has a solution" New Lucas battery fitted. Switch on sidesta…

I'm sure I'll be asking a bunch of dumb questions, attempting to learn some mechanics. My first question is this: I purchased a vintage numbers matching 1981 yamaha xt250h for my fiance', I need to find an aftermarket carburetor to replace the stock carb on her bike, any ideas on what model is compatable? I appreciate any advice.

Hello all, Having just purchased a 1998 Yamaha SR125 I thought it only right that I join this forum and say hello. Bought as a second bike to my CBR600F, the SR will serve as a commuter in a bid to save a few quid. It has performed faultlessly so far, although I did notice the engine was largely devoid of oil on return from the 95 mile ride home in torrential rain after buying it, and needed a good half litre to top it up to the line.... I was told the oil was 'very clean' before riding away, so maybe it wasn't clean, but in fact 'not there' to start with, who knows! Just how robust are these little bikes? I hear a lot about 'top end failures through neglect' …

Hi all, I picked up my new YBR125 yesterday, and am loving it so far. Still wearing in the engine, so not sure if I should stick to short journeys and get the bus to work, or just set off early on the bike. Phil

I've been riding a Honda Ruckus for like 2 years now and finally decided to upgrade to a real bike. I heard a lot of great things about the XJ650/Maxim so I thought it would be a great starter bike. I've owned it for about 2 hours now and I find myself on the message boards already. Long story short, I spent about an hour riding in a parking lot learning the clutch and gears etc and just getting used to a 453 pound bike as opposed to my 193 pound scooter. Everything went well. I parked the bike and went to show it off to my neighbor and tried to fire her up and she won't start. Starter just clicks and check oil light flashes. It was a warm day here in VA...mid 80's. Maybe…
