Hi. My name is Eric Esch. Long time rider but I just bought my first Yamaha. 1983 Midnight Maxim. Looking forward to riding it here in Michigan as soon as it stops raining. Cool looking classic cruiser for sure. Very excited to be a first time Yamaha owner.

hi everyone im new here and having a bit of bother finding posts, im looking for anything on the xvs 650 engine. I am in the middle of making it into a bobber style and while removing the exhaust i snapped a stud. As you can imagine im quite frustrated now, i drilled into the stud and bought a set of easy outs ,heated the head and went for it,would you believe my luck i managed to snap the dam thing inside the stud. Now i am looking for sites on head or engine removal as im going to need some expert help to sort out the problem. if anyone has any info that might help id really be greatful..... thanks Martin

Hey All, Just wanted to say hi! I picked up my first Yamaha (1978 XS750) this weekend, and I think its going to be a real (fun!) project. I'd been debating the merits of the XS750s vs the (Honda) CB750s for a month prior to buying this bike without coming to any overwhelming conclusions, but the price on this particular bike ($300) steered me toward the XS. There are (at least) evident electric (harness) and aesthetic issues, but I'm excited and can't wait to get to work turning her into a budget cafe. This will be my first, and I'm hoping to do a serviceable job with another $1,700 (for a total of 2G). Quick observation: in the 24 hours since I actua…

Hello everyone. I'm Speed Devil. I'm from Pretoria in sunny South Africa, where we never have snow and can ride all year round. I am a Think Bike member and am on the South African Think Bike forum. One of my biggest passions is safety awareness and informing people about ATGATT and the benefits of it. I am also a marshal with THink Bike and take part in marshalling activities at events like cycle races, charity events, funeral processions and any event that an organiser would require marshals to help escort/control. My current ride is a 2008 Yamaha TDM900. I am in the process of twisting SWAMBO's arm to buy a Yamaha XS1100 as a project bike and hopefully restor…

Hi everyone, my name is Rob and I'm a new rider and new to Yamaha too. I completed my CBT last month and got a beautiful XVS125 2004 last week, done a few miles and I'm getting acquainted with it. I'm loving it! However while riding I noticed I have to let the clutch go almost to the end for the engine to engage, and this is proving a bit problematic when slow manoeuvring as I feel I need more clutch play to properly control the bike when doing 8's or slaloms at 5mph. Does anyone know how to adjust this and where to find that good reliable mechanic in Edinburgh? I also made my first top-up of oil just after 89 miles but for some reason it feels a bit premature, as …

Hello there, very happy to find this forum. After almost 25 years bike less I got myself this beautiful 125 dragstar and love it to bits. I am not very experienced with mechanics or more electronics, so hope to find the odd answer to the odd question. I will of course try to help as well as much as possible with my at the moment limited knowledge... Living in the Sout-West of France makes biking a real pleasure, now we have already about 15 degrees, so of we go... Best regards, Syd

Happy 2012 to all. I trust everyone survived the snowy onslaught a few weeks back. I arrived in Langley/Slough/Heathrow just after this time, not like last year when I got waylayed. Won't say 'stuck' because I always enjoy a pint and eats at the Red Lion in Langley. Plus I was only delayed one day, as opposed to some of my fellow aviators who spent six or seven. I even managed some Christmas shopping in Slough, so no worries. On to the main event. I have been restoring a 1978 DT175E for the last five years. Recovered from a junk yard down the road from where I live in Biloxi, Mississippi with basically the frame, harness and motor usable. All else has been replaced or …

I am new to this forum but not to Yamaha. My first ride was a new 1979 Yamaha RD400F Daytona Special, which I never should have sold... Since then I have had a 1982 RD350 LC and a 1982 XJ750 Maxim X. My current ride (other than the bike pictured) is a 2005 HD Ultra Classic. 1990 Yamaha RZ350 F2 with 10,765 original kms. All stock other than upgraded master cylinder, braided front lines, calipers, tires and 2 wee paint touch-up spots on the front of the tank. So my first question is; in which forum do I find fellow RD fanatics? Cheers

  18. This is literally JUST an interest thread, this is not me advertising my services. I'm looking to branch out into the above. I was thinking that some of the more popular/expensive parts such as seat cowls and possibly race noses for the bikes such as R125's, R1's, R6's and so on...so they can be interchanged on track days and so on. Also replacement panels to cut down on the cost of replacing with new if need be. Also vinyl wrapping, singular parts, whole bikes and so on. I simply need to get an idea of what level of interest there would be and then go corporate on here (I believe in paying my dues!) and going from there. Let me know in this thread, no p…

Hey there I'm new all around. New to yamaha, just got my M permit and got my hands on a 1980 yamaha XS1100 eleven special. Shes in good condition although aparently the previous owners thought a horn from a clown car would be a good idea and jeep spot lights as add ons to the headlight. I'm sure once I get her back to the bare essentials she'll look even better. Oh and fix the title, I dont know what an RS is but I'm sure its not the XS I got in my garage.
