Hi members, I'm new to Yamaha have been interested mainly in 71-78 Kawasaki Z1's for the last 20 odd years. I'm not much with two strokes ... looking at small 4 stroke Yamaha's. Couldn't help to notice the beautiful design of those FZx 250's "Zeal" about 91-99 odd. Love to fit a 450 motor in them. Love that "Porpoise" tank.... clever frame design.... Would like to lift the seat a touch! Possibly bigger front wheel? Will pursue this interest later under the correct topic in this forum. RegardZ ~ Garn <Sydney, Australia>

Hi all, I'm a recent Australian rider who's been riding for a year now and just clocked over 10,000 kms on my TGB 101R 150cc scooter. I commute 50 kms per day from the outer suburbs of Melbourne Victoria to the inner city. While the scooter has been a fantastic learning experience, I'm really keen to upgrade to something that gives me more options in terms of freeway use. The scooter will do 110 kph but its at its total limit. At that speed the brakes, suspension and motor are all working 110%. I've been looking around for the next ride since I started a year ago. I knew that there was a motorbike rider inside me somewhere! I ride the wheels off the scoot and fi…

Hi all, just a quick intro... I've recently acquired a '91 SR250, a friend has had it sitting in his garage doing nothing for the last 6 or 7 years, so thought it would be fun little project to see if I can get it running and back on the road again. I'm a total newbie to motorbike maintenance, so after a few weeks of occasional tinkering and replacing a few bits and pieces (only basic stuff), today I got the engine running (well, for a few seconds!). Still a way to go before it's roadworthy, and lots for me to figure out & learn :-) Cheers, Alex

Greetings. I'm a first time motorcycle owner and I recently picked up a very used Yamaha XJ650J. Now I'm not a total noob when it comes to mechanics. I'm over 40 and been a mechanic of one kind or another for most of my life. This bike has sat for a few years and wasn't in good running shape so I did some work. I dumped the remaining fuel out of the tank and cleaned the petcock fuel filter (had some bits of rust in there.) Cleaned out the carbs (had lots of very fine rust powder built up in there.) Put in new plugs. Changed out the drive line oil and just changed out the engine/transmission oil and filter. Now the manual says the engine oil should be 3.3 US Quarts (wit…

Hi, Newish to the forum so thought i had better introduce myself. Names shane, i live in oxfordshire, uk and main hobby is working on classic vw's but as son turned 16 recently and couldnt bring myself to buy some bike for him i had never heard of i purchased a pair of DT50mx's and a Suzuki TS50ER to tinker with. Last time i had any form of motorbike was back in 1990 so these bikes have been a bit of a learning curve and testing my memory a bit :-) Will try to get some pics up on readers rides as soon as the bikes are a bit more complete.

I'm called Andy, but some of my mates call me Boon,( i answer to either, lol) been into motorbikes for as long as i can remember, my dad built me a wee fieldbike out of a Capri scooter frame and an NSU Quickly engine when i was about 8.... hooked ever since! lol I was a lucky chap, where i stayed, two doors down lived Tom King, TT racer Alistair Kings brother! after visiting i would come away with copies of ''the blue un'' and ''the green un'' from the 40's, 50's and 60's, hence the British bikes in my bike history. got my first bike ''on the road'' at 16yo, a lime…

Hello everyone! This is my first bike and so far i love it. But when i bought it the guy said he just mixes the gas. it has a separate oil tank but he says he has always mixed it. I think he mixes it to heavy on the oil because the exhaust has oil in it and lightly dripping out the end of the pipe. is this very bad? or do i just mix it lighter on the oil next time. Also it tends to die on me when im not giving it gas until it really really warms up. could this also be because of the oil? I dont know much so please feel free to offer help and suggestions! -Connor

Hi I became a xvs650 classic owner in May and am in the process of returning the bike to good condition. I recently bought a screen for the bike, unfortunately the screen is for a custom and the fixings for the forks are too small for the classic. Anyone have ideas on a fix for this.
