I also have a Gilera runner twist and go 125, I bought the DT 1. to get better on geared bikes to do big bike test. 2. have some fun on! The other love of my life is my car A subaru impreza turbo, running around 160bhp atm. So my ol' gilera was getting on a bit and now im bored of it, used it for 4 yrs now ! Hi everyone! ;-) I have recently purchased a Drag Star XVS125 for my soon to be 18yr old son around 3 weeks ago. I have trawled the Internet looking for a Haynes type manual so he can get into some low level maintenance and basically get to know the bike. I am also trying to find him a bikers club if there is such a thing in the Renfrewshire area(Erskine, near to Glasgow Airport) if anyone knows of one or somewhere he can learn more about motorbikes and how they work? Any assistance or advice would be most welcome as I personally have not one clue about motorbikes!! That said, the Drag Star is a cracking looking bike and it has put me in the mood to give biking a try! …

Hi all ,I'm new to this forum stuff .so just some info on me and my bikes. Been riding for 22 years and have had a lot of different bikes from a Suzuki RG 50 to Buell XB 9SX lightning.I have used my bikes for commuting and pleasure. I have lots of technical knowledge and enjoy working on bikes. I have moved to the UK from South Africa and now have to do my license after all this time, so I have done the CBT and moving on to Module 1 next. Currently riding a XVS 125cc Dragstar. Hi to everyone. My name is Bernie and I'm a 45yr young male living in Erskine, Renfrewshire(near Glasgow Airport). I purchased a Drag Star XVS125 for my son Kevin a few weeks ago and that is why I am joining this forum to hopefully learn more about bikes to help him out & hopefully get started myself as its such a good looking bike it's made me wanna try it out! I hope this suffices as an intro as I was having trouble viewing on the iPad as it was making the screen go to a massive font size and limiting the area viewed(strange). Anyway ......this page is fine and this is my intro, so Hi, and I look forward to some chat in the future;-) Bernie

Hi I'm Anthony and new to this forum so I thought I'd introduce myself and show you a bit of my biking history starting with my first bike the VFR400 Then after a few years a change to the Yamaha R6 but unfortunately a man in a van, couldn't wait to get home and wrote it off (he was late home that Day) So once I'd recovered and decided to get another bike I always wanted one of these, a Honda Fireblade So after 18months of riding the Fireblade I still wasn't happy with it and it had to go. And that's how I ended up with my current bike the yamaha R1 have to say I love it and happSo that's a …

Hi all, I am Arne from the Netherlands and by pure chance I have become the owner of a 1990 XJ600 which has been parked up since May of this year due to some holes in the exhaust. I am currently working on getting myself my motorcycle license here in the Netherlands, which I hope to have at the end of October. Back to the bike. The fork says it is an XJ600 51J where the Yamaha lists say it should be a 3KM as it is a 1990 bike. So, that is something I need to figure out. Anyway, when I picked up the bike I was pleasantly surprised. It is in quite a decent shape. Granted, the exhaust really is leaking. I think the exhaust needs a bit more welding than I had hoped.…

Hello everyone. Just joined the club and need some advice. Been riding and wrenching bikes since the sixties so I'm not new to bikes but just bought my first Yamaha IT400 (1977). Trying to set the ignition timing after a top end re-build. Using the Clymer manual and very confusing! Manual says to line up timing marks on rotor with timing mark on crankcase and the only mark is deep inside cover and really hard to see. Also shows only one timing mark on rotor and there is three marks. (I am assuming the center mark is TDC, left mark is BTDC, and right mark is ATDC.) Can anyone spell out the timing procedure for me? Really want to get this monster running! Thanks for any he…

Hi Just joined the forum after recently completing my CBT. Bought a YBR 125 custom which I am mainly using to get to work and back. The bike is great and very easy to ride but the headlight can only be descibed as poor. As most of daily work journey is down lanes without the benefit of street lighting I think I may have to upgrade the healight. I leave for work at 5am so it is an issue I need to address. Anyway apart from that I am really enjoying the ride to work and back. May even get a bit more adventurous when I have some more experience on the road. Old river man

Hi all, Newbie here ... first time here - feeling like a bit of an interloper, but here anyway... Hi guys! Passed my test last December on a very lovely XJ6, and have been riding a Kwakkaskaskanki ZZR600 ever since.. ... Ok - I'm here to ask questions, and seek a bit of help on behalf of an old Yamaha here ... ... Anybody looking? .. good! Always nice to be noticed! How the smeg do I re-register an old (1980) DT125E ?? I have an old one that use to be a lively member of the road-going community, and is now getting her puff back.... Any help would be greatly appreciated folks ... Cheers!

Hi guys, I have just joined after browsing on the sidelines. I am about to be a born again biker at the age of 57! must be a mid life crisis thing. I used to ride bikes back in the 70's but never passed a test. Anyway to cut a long story short my friends have got me interested in biking again and I am about to take my CBT, and direct access test. As you might guess I am into cruisers having been on the back of my friends Harley. Not having that kind of money i have set my sights on a Yamaha but am not sure what to buy yet, (that is a question for the forum though) I am looking forward to getting back into it again and will no doubt be picking a lot of brains on here.
