At 54 years young I have managed to persuade my wife to allow me to have a bike again. I have previously only ridden road bikes but feel the need for something different, so I tracked down a 1991 Yamaha XT660 Z Terene at a price I like. Therefore after a break of 30 years I am due to be back in the saddle again

Evening, everybody. My name is Wayne and I'm from South Woodham Ferrers, Chelmsford in Essex. I have to admit, that at this moment in time, I'm between bikes, and don't own a Yamaha.....Yet. However, I'm hoping to purchase a 2012 R1 in a few weeks, after trashing my ZX10R @ 20mph!!! Long story...... So, I am hoping for some helpful advice on buying my 1st Yamaha bike, and so decided to join this bustling forum to do some reading and research on what the R1 is like to live with as a Road Only bike, and ask your opinions on parts and anything else that I can think of. So thats me in a nut shell really.. Looking forward to chatting away and talking bi…

Hello everyone, I was searching online for a good Yamaha forum, and this was recommended several places, so I'm looking forward to many hours of reading in here As an Xj6 2010 owner, I do have some questions already, hopefully you can help me out. I have google around to find answers, but the more I search the more in doubt I got, so I figured I'd ask you guys. 1) Since I'm looking for ways to make my XJ6, MY OWN, I have come to wonder... Is there a difference between the FZ6R and the XJ6, other than difference in HPs.. If so, what are the diffences? 2) Will I be able to fit a Two Brothers Exhaust V.A.L.E M2 005-2570107V-B Black series on my XJ6? (and wil…

I just recently found out about this forum. Great stuff! I have been riding, working, and racing motorcycles for many years and decided, about 3 years ago, to start restoring old Yamahas, specially the ones I had when I was a kid. Just finished a 75 XS650B, working on a 79 XS750F and just purchased a 76 XS500C. Not a profit thing. Just a passion for the old stuff. Garage is space is vanishing quick. :-)

  10. Hello My wife and I are a Canadian couple, living in Zambia. We are currently developing the only Sports Academy for Orphans and Underprivileged Youth in this part of the world. We are in an area with more than 5000 orphans living in about 100 square km around our place, close to Victoria Falls, Zambia. We have a variety of sports that we will implement with the orphans, ranging from football to tennis. In a few months, we will leave Zambia on our motorbike, Yamaha Super Tenere and head to Japan, throughout Africa, Europe (all the way to Nordkapp, Norway) then east to Russia, Japan, then to the West Coast of Canada, US, down to South America to raise funds for our or…

Hi Everyone, I am new to the site, and to bike ownership! I am 32, and a race mechanic (cars) in Cheshire, and have finally decided I have got enough self preservation about me to trust myself on a bike. I first rode a little crosser when I was about 7 years old at a fair, and when my auntie asked me what the bike was, I proudly told her I had ridden a Yahamaha........... I have had a few plays on friends bikes, but finally bit the bullet and bought a rather unloved XJ600 pre diversion in Jan of this year..... Last week I had a look on Google for the Yamaha Owners Club, and the first link was to here, and in particular a thread from 2011, about an XJ60…

Hi Guys For someone in their late 40 I have never really bothered with bikes, but changes in circumstance and the rising cost of fuel forced me to re think my position. So with a little trepidation I have now booked my CBT and have just purchased a YBR125 Custom and I am now looking forward to my first ride. Got the basics Helmet, Jacket, trousers, gloves and boots, I know i need to look at security and probably a few other things but on a tight budget so any recommendations or even advice for a newbie. Hello everyone After buying a 1979 dt175 on eBay to use for winter I found myself getting a little carried away with it. Instead of the usual new bits to make it road worthy. I have spent (and am still spending) a deal of time and money on a full nut and bolt rebuild frame powder coated, engine rebuild (except big end)etc, etc, etc, whilst trying to convince my wife that bikes really are cheap to run Needless to say I have gleaned a great deal of info from this forum. There are some pretty knowledgeable guys out there especially in the dt175 area So hopefully by registering I may be of some assistance to some one else. Oh and be able to post my own questions …
