Hi everyone, new to the site, so be gentle Just picked up a gleaming 1989 TZR 125 (fully rebuilt) and wow lovely bike. But.............................Errrrrrrrr!! Will only tick over once warm, and then (when blipping throttle) sits at 3000 revs for a few seconds before slowly running down to 1000 and rough tick over. Rides well up to 7000 revs then splutters and pops as it tries to go into the power band, but refuses to budge past 7000revs and 60mph. As i understand it the power valve is pegged open and it has a Ginelli exhaust. I have tried to ring Stan Stephens, but he is on hols till the 30th April. Any thoughts or help would be really appr…

Hello folks. My name is Sadie, I'm originally from Leicestershire but I now live in Berkshire. Passed my bike test back in 1996 and have owned only a few bikes since, although have ridden quite a few that weren't mine. My last Yamaha was a Jap racing import FZR 400 Exup which I loved. Took a break from biking due to a number of reasons but got back into it in 2010 after meeting my now hubby, who is also a biker. He bought a Harley and, without really thinking about it, so did I. I actually enjoyed that for two and a half years, but we both decided it was time to get back into the 21st century and modern biking again Being rather little, I struggle with big machin…

im new to motorcycles and very new to two stroke motors. i just bought 72 CS5 200 thats not currently running. the motor tuns over and has good compression. im not gettting any spark (seems to have newer ignition coils and plugs/wires) and the guy that had the bike before me seemed to think there was a problem with carbs that needed adjustment. so far ive taken the tank off for cleaning and im going to clean the carbs and get them back on. also i need to replace the battery. then i think ill be ready to find the real problems that need solved. any advice you could give me would be much appreciated. im really looking forward to gettin on the road. can anyone tell me t…

Hi to all forum members, My Nname is Steve and I amd from Leicester originally, but now live in Lincoln. I have had loads of Yamaha's over the years from YCS3 to Fazer 1000, current project is a 1977 spoke wheeled XS 250 with 6000 miles from new, It was ridden for 4 years then stuck in a shed, Not sure at the moment how faithful to original the rebuild will be, I suppose it will all depend on what original parts I can get hold of, biggest issue by far seems to be exhausts, Look forward to chatting with some of you in the future. Regards Steve

Hey, New to the group and riding. Have just got my SR 125 on the road after weeks of tinkering with the front caliper. (rusted bolts, Seized pistons, broken seals) Looking forward to riding in the sun when it decides to show its face and hopefully learning a thing or two from the old hats round here. Paul

Hi I am a new member and new to bikes in particular. I am interested in purchasing a motorcycle and I need to get some info from the pro's. The bike i am currently looking at is a midnight virago 750 from 83'. Apparently the bike is in good condition with only one problem for a great price. I see they can gor for more than a 1,000 dolloars and this one is priced at 600. for a starter bike I think it is a steal but I have my concerns. A mechanics shop is selling it and can't really tell me all I want to know about it. I have been told it has issues when it runs and the mechanic thinks that since the carborators have been cleaned as well as the gas tank that the problem may…

Hello brand new member here. I have a total of 8 hours on a bike in a parking lot and just bought my first bike, 1979 Yamaha DT175, No idea about the Mx or not. It's looks good to my eye but right now it's the prettiest thing so I'm biased. I'll be scanning the forums for knowledge and hope to pick a brain or two. Never have worked on a bike but have on cars so all pretty new. Thanks for having this club I could join!

Hi there guys, In late 2011 a friend of mine bought a Yamaha DT100 to do up with his wife, she wasn't interested and he didn't have the time to do it himself, so I managed to pick it up for a bargain £75! After getting it home, I did the standard ''Use buckets of water and mum's sponges for the dishes to get all the mud and crud off it, but also messing up the patio'' technique. After I got it clean (relatively) I decided to use the next ''take off everything you can and put it in a pile'' technique. The next thing I did, was cover it in WD-40, put it under a tarp and forget about it. It's now 2013, and after remembering I have a bike in the shed in pieces I'…

Hi all, Have been driving for about 7 years and recently my Dad got the urge to get a bike and its rubbed off onto me. So my plan is to get my CBT for a wee while till I am confident enough to get the DAS. My Dad got a 2004 xvs 125 and I fancy the same although I think I am a bit too big for it ( 6ft 7in ). Anyone got any suggestions along the same style of bike that would fit my style or would a xvs 125 be ok if I alter the handle bar position. Thanks Euan

Hi all, Quick intro. I ride YBR250 5 days a week for London commute and delivering some of my work to clients. Great bike nearly 4 years old now with 25000km. Only major prob so far is front wheel bearing failure. Upgraded seat at Custom motorcyle seats last month and made riding over all these speed humps in London much more comfortable Only gripes are no centre stand, found a site in Brazil selling one but not speaking Portuguese unable to get any further! and exhaust downpipe quality is a joke. On second exhaust due to rust. Fitted mudflap on front fender to try and stop accelerated corrosion on new one. Safe riding to all - Paul

Hey! Today was an interesting day. A friend decided to skip the country for a promotion. He didn't want any ties back in the uk and basically sold everything as fast as he could. He like a numpty forgot about his bike. It's been sat 5+ years. Never used since he dropped it on a roundabout going very slowly. He did some superfical damage, a minor paintwork and chrome graze, and hurt his pride a lot. Never got on it again. So he decides to give it to me.... I have no bike expirience! No helmet, No protective clothing, no licence or CBT. I do have a full UK car licence, and am not stupid/young enough to go out playing without all of the former been in place first! …
