I have been reading a lot lately about hard starts and rattling/ticking noises in R1s of different years. I purchased mine used last year with intentions of making a track bike out of it. After a week or so I too noticed the famous "ticking" sounds they love to produce. I took it to the wizard here in Tennessee and found that the cct was in fact bunk and replaced it.This did help some with the hard starts, I'm guessing that it caused improper timing issues. We checked the fuel maps and found them to be right on for stock settings. Still after a few days of sitting it is hard to start. Any other ideas???

Hello I'm Michael from London - I've been riding a Yamaha SR125 (1993) for a couple of years, my first bike and I love it (despite being constantly overtaken by the lowliest of scooters). My clutch cable just snapped for the second time in a year - it seems to tighten up, and then this puts too much strain on the ball bearing at the lever end which comes clean away from the cable. Very frustrating when this happens 5 miles from home! Does anyone have any experience with this problem? What can I do to prevent the cable tightening up and breaking like this? And can anyone recommend a good supplier for a new one? Thanks.

Hey guys, just joined the forum, dropped in to say hi. I bought my SR in....September of 2012? And have been riding it since, even in the -20*F ice and snowy weather here in Utah. Possibly a couple of you might recognize me from TT, I have quite a bit of posts there but that was for when I had my dirt bike, they're not so great with road bikes. I'm going to college to get my bachelors in software engineering, I'm 18 years old, and have been riding for 5-7 years (without an indecent might I add!) Anyway, the bike has been ridden by older fellows all its life in our little town. It's been passed on to me through $400. Although it's not in tiptop shape, it's still a pret…

Hi guys. The name is Tony. I'm a 'mature' rider - not born again though. Been riding since I was 16 - many years ago. Got a YBR 125 a while ago for my son to learn on. He's since passed his test and moved on to a 2005 Fazer. The YBR is now in regular use as a commuter/hack. It keeps my Suzuki (OK, I know) in good condition. The YBR is also being used to teach son basic maintenance and mechanical skills. In the stable we also have YZ 80 (daughter) and YZ 125 (son). Hope you all had a good Christmas! Regards, Tony

  20. I'm new just bought a 2001 Yamaha VStar 1100 and thought I'd try and find a forum that I could read and talk to other people into motorcycles, especially Yamaha Motorcycles. I'm in Southern California in the High Desert and am just starting to ride, so nice to meet ya all and hope to add more after I read more in the forums.
