Afternoon gents , after much talking bout it i have finally purchased the xv250 lump to mount in the draggy 125 frame. Bit on the expesive side but hey much cheaper than buying a complete bike.Anyway just wondering if any one has done this before ? Ive got the engine, gear box and starter but was wondering if the loom from the 125 is the same as the 250 ? also can i just up the jet on the xvs carb ? as i beleive its the same one used on the xvs 250.Other areas of concern are the air filter can i buy a k&n style for the xv250 or does it need the big airbox like the xvs 125 ? oh and are the out let manifolds the same on the draggys and viragos ? any help as always is ver…

  4. hi guys. i am back on a bike after about 8 years without. i am the first owner of my 2010 xvs 1100 classic and have only put 200km on the clock so far. i have seen alot of people are taking the baffle out to make a bit louder, but cant find anything about the 2010 model. my question is, will the following process work? http://www.vstar1100.com/jack_phelps/vstar/exhaust.htm . i see from 2006 the procedure changes. i really want to do it but dont know if my pipes are the same as earlier models or not. would hate to get half way through and realise it wont work. any info from anyone will be appreciated. cheers guys

Hi guys, Well i have the bike running but i have noticed it is only firing on 1 cylinder. Done a few checks and both coils are good, tested continuity from CDI unit wires in harness and all ok. Bike has new regulator and is charging ok, put new Iridium spark plugs in. Question i would like to ask is: is it possibly a stator fault or am i looking at a replacement CDI? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have also noticed i get no neutral light when ignition on. I have done a continuity check on the switch and it is open, so i think it maybe broken. Are they easy to get hold and and change? I am slowly working through the XV 250 service manual as i…

  8. As you will have seen in my previous note, I bought an 02 XVS 650 Drag Star on Saturday and whilst it hasnt even been delieverd yet (roll on Thursday)I'm already thinking about some modifications, especially upgrading the exhausts. I saw some videos on uTube where the sound was wonderful, but I dont want to get pulled by the police every 20 minutes. So ideally, I'm looking for the best exhausts which I can fit which are still road legal, and by best I obviously mean the loudest / deepest sounding. Any ideas or recommendations? Many thanks

soz for posting so much but i have tried the search with no luck. custom made sprockets, im in need of a xvs 125 rear sprocket with about 45/46 teeth on it. not sure if they make one but im willing to have one made....one problem .......i cant find anyone in the uk that make a 428 pitch sprocket. plenty of US websites but no uk ones dont suppose anyone knows of a site or a phone number of somewhere that make sprockets to order? at the mo iv got a standard 63 tooth on back and a 16 tooth on front so thats a 3.9 to 1 ratio, would like to be somewhere in the 2.8 to one as i have no top end and its like an aprillia rs 50 (restricted) (boo hoo hoo )

Hi Girls/Guys, I thought we could share our experiences about long rides on a XVS 125... it could be useful for everybody to know how these machines perform on a longer ride. I would like to make some journeys along the south coast of England and being new to this bike, I would like to know if it is actually built for this purpose or not

Anyone have any good websites featuring a large range of after market parts to fit a Dragstar Classic 650? At the moment, I'm thinking pure cosmetics rather than performance. Any reccomendations? Sjthjs

My little XVS250 is just perfect for a bloke of my advanced years except for one thing the peg and brake pedal/gear shift position make it seriously awkward with my size 10 boots. I've looked at forward controls but these are 1) very pricey, 2) pretty hideous (IMO) and 3) don't necessarily have that much larger a gap twixt peg and pedal. So does anyone out there know of any manufacturers of longer shift levers/pedals that might fit an XVS 250/125? I've found exactly what I'm after in the states for Harley's but so far drawn a blank for any other makes. Any alternative (preferably proven) solutions to this problem very gratefully received. Cheers John

Heya all, I have a Vstar 650 (XVS) just done over 1000klm, so its pretty new and had a set of Vance Hines fitted. I only had the bike for a week or so and noticed that i only did about 165klm on a tank before using reserve. By my calculations and according to the dealer, i should be getting atleast another 50 to 100klm. Kinda seems like it's running way to reach... Any thoughts?

I recently bought a fairly cheap '97/98 XV 125cc Virago, and of course there are a few little problems around the bike. There was quite a bad rust problem, the majority of which I've rectified with several applications of Bilt-hamber deox gel and a lot of elbow grease. The rust on the underneath of the bike concerns me though. I think the bottom exhaust has been replaced at some point(there is a receipt for a new one in the paperwork I got) and where it's been welded on, whoever did it didn't care to protect it from rusting at ALL. It's reached the 'bubbling' stage down there, I've taken a lot of rust cream to it but I'm afraid if I keep going at it I might end up w…
