While thinking about my first bike, I am leaning towards a 1000 (ish) I was looking at Dragstars but I like the look of the Midnightstars also What is the difference between these, is it just engine sizes, or is it size of bike etc I guess I need to go and play in a bike shop and sit on them Thanks

I have a '99 vstar 650. I have figured out that my speedo is off, I am not sure how much, approx. 10-20 kph at highway speeds. sunce it is a cable speedo, I was wondering if anyone knew what could cause it to be off, and therefore how to fix it? Thanks Craig

  4. I saw this and thought of you! They're nothing to do with me, but Highway Hawk Fat Pipes seem to be constantly desirable. Many people on here crave them, so just to feed your addiction....... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-DRAGSTAR-XVS-650-EXHAUST-SILENCER-PIPE-CUSTOM-/350471020112?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5199b35e50

So, Wanting to buy my first ever bike, will be a dragstar but the only place for me to keep my bike is on the road outside my home (possible on pavement bolted to wall) Its a wide path. This worries me a little as I think about passers by wanting to sit on my new baby, possible theft and anything else that could happen to my bike. What do you guys do, I'm assuming not everyone has a garden etc. The issue of keeping my bike safe outside my place is a real concern and can put me off buying one :-( Thanks

Hey guys. I wonder if anyone could help me. My SR125 is a 98 but the wiring is 91-96. Im having a hard time finding a new ignition unit, its not the common one on ebay. Does anyone know a parts supplier that may have the "5HO-MO" ignition unit? The alternative I have is to buy the newer unit and remove the sidestand relay, does anyone know if this would work? From what I can see on the wiring diagram that's the only difference. It's been a problem for a few months now and I've pretty much changed everything else on her, any help would be much appreciated

Would you call a Vmax a custom type bike (i.e like a Dragstar or a Virago would be termed custom) If so does anyone have any 1st hand info on them? and if they're not customs...........where on these forums do I ask the question? Assuming they are classed as a custom and I'm posting in the right place........I'm going to sell my 650 dragstar (anyone interested?) and I'm planning to replace it with a late eighties/ early 90's Vmax. I've never owned or even ridden the Vmax, so any advice would be appreiciated.

HI Guys, First time on here. I've recently bought an R1SP and have been buying toys for it. I want to replace the existing screen with a silver one to match my visor. However, I've bought one that I think is an Airblade one? Not sure as it's not marked but anyways, it fits the bolt holes but doesn't fit flush with the fairing. It leaves a horrible gap between the fairing and the screen. I've examined the old screen and noticed it's profiled with a lip so that the screen fits snug, the replacement part didn't have this lip. I've looked at the Zero Gravity screens which look awesome and have this lip so should fit snug but I can't find any in Silver. Does anyone know…

Hello all, again looking for some advice from the pro's... I've taken up the idea to remove the mufflers from my exhaust, and make a set of new ones myself. Just a straight pipe, pointing a bit upwards... Now i'm looking for baffles which would give me a nice deep sound, not too loud...(but still loud enough ) any advice? thank you Peter

Hi Guys, I recently purchased a set of XV 125 pannier racks from Ebay, these are the genuine article, but they have no fitting instructions so i am lost as to how they fix. I think i may have worked out that they bolt through the mudguard and then the pillion seat but if i place them, the holes line up but the indicators are in the way. It seems that in order to use them that the indicators need to be moved. Anyone out there got similar and can light the way? I dont mind moving the indicators to further around the mudguard, but this does mean i will need to extend the wiring as well. My only issue is, i must be missing something!!! …

  14. Hi guys... I am thinking of putting additional lights on my XV125. Like two small front lights below or above Headlight..and some additional horn..I saw in the store a set of side mirrors and each had speakers on them..you could place ur micro sd memory chip to play songs while u ride or simply listen to FM radio.. My problem is if you want such gadgets fixed onto bike...how would u take the power from wire harness..are there special places in the circuit where u could get power from? I found two free connectors so far in the headlight, and one under right side cup where relays are...what are they for? Extensions for additional stuff..? Also since my thermo swit…

Hi All, Looks like a really useful forum, glad I found it. Having just had my bike back from the Rozzers having had the joy of a 14 year old nicking it then beating it up I've decided to have a little project and making it a bit more custom. First off is removing the sissy bar and 2nd seat and bags which were on it when I got the bike to save a little weight and probably add about 2mph to top speed if lucky! I know its a hairdryer in a real bikes clothing but it suits the few times i get to use it, but I'd like to make it look meaner. Thoughts so far are: - Satin black paintjob and less plasticy chrome - white wall tyres (maybe but not sure) - Differen…

Like I said in another thread here I am having oil leak issues in both engine heads. In order to keep my baby look great I wash it with mild detergent at least once a week, it was normal for engine to misfire after a wash, earlier it didnt have prominent noise..but since recently I am experiencing prolonged misfires in front cylinder with some " fut......fut..........fut" noise..earlier the issue went ok once I accelerate engine in neutral position few minutes..I am guessing still it is a spark plug water issue...I sprayed WD 40 around where the spark plug meets the engine outer case...er..head. And washed it today. I noticed same misfires today but soon it went ok..then …

Hi All, New to the club so be gentle lol, Well next Friday (10/06/11) i am swapping over my XVS 125 bobber in for a tatty old 2001 XVS 650 in much need of some TLC. The previous owner has added a few taste-less mods which will be in the bin within 10 mins of me getting the keys! one of these mods are front and rear floor boards which are not to my taste so i want to change them back to pegs.....the rear ones are very easy to find on e-bay but i can not for the life of me find any original front pegs. So.....do any of you guys know of any web sites that sell them? or dose any one have a set they want rid of? Thanks in advance.
