Hi, has anybody drilled the centre of a xvs 1300 silencer and how did you find the bike performed afterwards ? also i've just clocked 3000 miles since i bought it in march, very pleased with it except for a noisy engine under load, took it to the dealer and they said it was normal, one thing i've found about it is it does not like town work in low revs, have to keep revs up in low gears or it's too lumpy, cheers

the pipe that connects to the bottom of the carb is cracked a yamaha dealer says the part is £99.00 plus £61.00 to fit it as far as i can tell this is a plastic tube with 2 attachments for what look like fuel pipes and 3 bigger attachments 1 for each of the 2 cylinders and a connection to the carb is there any way i can get a cheaper version of it by the way it looks like i have to take off the tank all the hoses the air intakes and possible the exhaust can anyone advise me?

Gents, do you know anybody who put a 6th gear on a xvs 1100? If yes, how he made that? I've heard a lot of rumours about that but none of them came concretely with a sketch or something. Maybe you guys can help. I would really like to make/add a 6th gear to my Dragstar (V-star - USA) 10x

Hi guys, Has anyone ever taken apart their fuel cap assembley for their Dragstar? For a while now every time I go to fill up at the petrol station I have to wrestle with the fuel cap for it to come off. Additionally and more worrying is the gradual stress on the key becoming twisted and bent. I see the key lock turning from the outisde to the 3 o'clock position, but the locking mechanism underneath isn't moving failing to release the cap from the tank. Looking at the cap underneath I have noticed two screw heads to take it apart. How easy is it to reassemble with the spring inside etc. Ben

Hi everyone. Sorry if my last post was in the wrong section or that i had named it wrong. Have a look at the custom paint work on this virago. It shows all stages of the airbrush art and also showcases this lads talent. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150096533006403.276898.258240356402 Feel free to comment on it as the artist is looking for some feedback. regards Bushtucker

recently saw a great looking bike called a yamaha warrior and liked the kind of bike it was. I have never seen them in any dealers, they didnt look as bulky as other custom bikes and most people will buy harleys cos of the name. if anyone can give me their impressions of ownership I would be very grateful, any pictures of customising and mods too.

Week ago I bought a new battery for my xv125, filled sulfuric acid to upper level and let settle overnight..and installed it and last night I the headlight was flickering..dimming and brightening So I removed the battery to find out all the acid levels in 6 cells to have gone down terrible, no didnt get rotten egg stink. I think my previous battery was ruined by the same case, it too had fluid level running down issue frequently..now that I have placed a good battery so I think regulator not doing its job properly. I checked the bike circuit and found 3 white wires coming from AC Magneto connecting to regultor/rectifier and all the wires are presently conne…

Sri Lanka had imported a low quality petrol lot recently and it had water in petrol, if u take a sample from a gas station to a bottle there would be a water layer at the bottom. The lot was being distributed all around the country and many engines have gotten issues..government has cancelled paying for the supplier. But both supplier and the careless authorities are to blame. Now in my xv125 I had a miss when I hit start button, engine would start normally and run 3-4 cycles and like it doesnt have fuel it would stop..I first got amazed on this and was very scared I have an engine problem. This went ok in few days and now it starts at my first button hit. Yet i…

Hello to everyone! I was riding today on my Dragstar and I began wondering if it would be possible to add one more gear to my bike. So when I wouldn't be riding uphill I would have a gear in which the bike could rest a bit at 80 - 90 km/h ... so..is it possible? I'm not that good at mechanics so I would get a mechanic to do the work. Thanks for your answers!

Hi all, after riding a friends xvs 1300, i've decided to trade in my harley for a new xvs 1300, hope to be picking it up within 2 weeks. i couldn't believe how good the yamaha felt and rode compared to my harley,it was like going from a tractor to a rolls! any how, what i want to know is, are there any quirky little issues with the xvs 1300 i need to know about (all bikes have them in different forms) any input would be great to ensure i know what to expect and that i don't pester the dealer with silly things, sorry for rambling on, safe riding all

hey guys, Right im not sure if you lads will be able to help but there again i think a few of you will as you are smarter than i ever will be lol. Basically i am after a set of springer forks for my XVS 650 bobber project as all i have left to get now is a raw steel rear fender and a bobber seat then i can crack on and strip her down ready for powder coating and the big over haul this winter. But i need to know: Where to get a springer front end from? Which is the best make? Best price range? Things to look out for? I know i need to make sure that the bearing measurments are the same and the same with the spindle will also need to make sure that the …
