Hey guys and gals I've tried to fit a heel-toe shifter several times to my XVS650A Dragstar Classic (2000) but each one I buy doesn't fit. They bolt on, but you can't shift as the heel part hits as you try and change. All the shifters I've bought are genuine Yamaha shifters, all advertised as 2001+, which leads me to believe that the mounts / frame / something was altered for the 2001 onwards models. Can anyone confirm? Has any-one successfully fitted a heel-toe shifter to a 2000 Classic? Thanks Tom

Guys, my bike has misses or no-firing at all at the front cylinder...rear cylinder ok... Earlier the plugs were white. But now there are carbon deposits and the thin film on it when misses or no firing occur seems to be petrol or oil..Once you clean the plug you could ride it again...but not for long... There is no heavy carbon build up.. I once tried to adjust air-gas mixture screw and seems am sending more gas and less fuel into the combustion chamber and once the plug gets wet, the bike misses... Can someone tell me what the ideal setting is...? pls I get confused with 1/8th kinda turning stuff...may be explain the right way in some other way...? Th…

Don't know if this has been mention on here before but there is a fairly simple solution to this. Undo the 3 100m nuts. Lift the back of the board and shim it out by a couple of millimetres (between the board and the hanger rear of the top nut). Tighten the nuts, being careful to not over-tighten. Think it heightens the back by about 15mm. Did this and I didn't scrape the boards once, even though I was riding with a passenger. BTW. nothing wrong with sticking the pre-load to the top. It doesn't affect the stiffness noticeably, just the ride height.

Hi All, I need a left hand mirror for my 52 reg xvs 125. I have seen a few right sides for sale but no lefts. Does anyone know if any other models have the same mirrors as my bike. I assume a new one from Yamaha will cost an arm and a leg. Cheers, Gary

I am not to far off from collecting my new Yamaha Bolt now, and i have ordered some V&H pipes for it, which means i need a little box of tricks to sort the fuel/air out. i have bought the pipes from America as they are MUCH cheaper than here in the uk. Its the same story with the fuel contoller, but, i am unsure if a U.S. version of the controller will work with the standard U.K. ecu fitted to the bike. I know the connections are all the same, my concern is will the U.S. box work with my bike as i know emmissions laws are very different between the two countries, or does this not make a difference, as the box should be compensating for running lean/rich. If anyone ca…

Got a problem I noticed this morning with the horn on the bike. It won't work. Not sure where to start on this. I'll admit now, I'm not much of a mechanic but I don't think there's a fuse for the horn in the fusebox. Any ideas or any common causes of the horn not working ? ... (cue Viagra jokes!!).

My boys 535 is showing signs of wear, in that the replacement shox the PO fitted must have been cheap shit and there is no chrome left on the rear shock springs. The yellowish (zinc?) coating is coming through and when left for a few days they develop a coating of surface rust. So can I strip them down and get them re-chromed or would plastic coating be better. Anyone know if powder coating would do the job or would that just come off

Also would the V-Star 250 parts fit the Dragstar 250? Many Thanks Maz

Hey everyone. I have a 2002 xvs650, i was involved in a crash a couple months ago which broke the signals lights and some misc item on the bike. Got it all fixed up and replaced the turn signals with LEDs but now when i signal they all blink at the same time and its a faster blink. I know they are wired in to their correct wires but do i need to add some load resistors in the lines? And what would cause the hazard signal when selecting a directional

Calling my fellow drag queens. As you know I'm the twat who's taken on a task to re lace my front wheel, why you ask......... Well because I like the challenge. If you would be so kind could you take a pic of the inside of your front hub, then a pic of the rim of the four hole pattern, (it will go 4 holes gap 4 holes) but could you label the spokes 1234 with masking tape then again at the hub so I can see what spoke goes to what hole. Much love in advance. Noise

I'm replacing the tank on my baby drag with one from a 1950s triumph tiger cub. I know the stock tap on the draggie is vacuum operated, and has three hoses connected to it. One of them will obviously be the vacuum line, the other one must be fuel, but does anyone know what the third line is for? Is that the prime supply? I haven't really had a chance to have a good look at where all these lines connect to the carb. As far as I'm aware, there isn't any reason why running a standard free-flow tap would be an issue, so long as the float does it's job - I believe the tiger cub tank's tap has an "off" position anyway just in case I park on a hill or at some silly angle. So I…

Does anyone know if you can get to these on this bike. I've followed the normal procedure that worked on my TDM and on the FJR but all I can get on the XVS is the DIAG fields. Thanks

The lights on my bike went bright and blew, so i replaced the rectifier as advised by a friend. What a job that was as it was siezed to the bolts, And now the battery will not stay charged and it is a new battery,The voltage drops when the revs go up and at tick over it increases to 13 volts. Any suggestions of any other possible causes. they will be appriciated Thanks
