I have advertised on EBay my Cobra 4" slip on pipe (with HardKore quiet baffle) and my genuine Yamaha engine bars if anyone is interested. This is for information only not a for sale post. It is for the benefit of like minded custom owners.

After some advice really. I have just got my new Bolt, and I am having a lot of problems with the clutch and throttle response. Firstly the clutch, the bite point seems to be only a millimeter wide, once it bites there is no more play at all!!! It's just all or nothing, and secondly is the throttle response, traveling at 30mph and roll off the throttle for, say a parked car, or something causes the bike to lurch quite badly and it's the same with rolling it on aswell. I've never had a fuel injected bike before but the one I test rode wasn't like this!!! Is it just me??? Or could there be issues with it, don't want to look stupid going back to the dealer, only to be told i…

Hi guys,I'm new to the forum.I took a 950 Bolt out for a test run yesterday and loved it.Im sure this question has been asked before but here goes anyway. Why in the UK is there a £600 ($1000) difference between these two models when the difference in the US is $300 (£180).Shipping to the UK is the same for both models.Does anyone have Yamaha UK's excuse for this rip off ?.Thanks guys.

Hi, I have had a look around and the XVS250 only seems to be provided with a side stand. In London, parking areas are very tight and a sidestand results in the bike wanting to take up to 2 bike spaces. Does anyone know of a custom centre (center) stand for the XVS250? Thanks Clive Long

So you guys have been quite friendly to me since I've been here and I think I know how this will go given the focus of this forum but I'm just about at crunch time now….. Harley Fat Bob or Yamaha XVS950A I'm really really torn on this. I thought I wanted the Harley and I'm sure at some point I will have one. I've test rode the Fat Bob and its nice, but I also think the XVS is a great looking bike. I'm 10 months into getting my full licence if that has any relevance and really struggling to decide which one to get. Money wise although the XVS is about half the price of the Harley I would be getting either on finance and the Harley is £2k deposit plus £200 a …

Afternoon! New member here, I've done the polite thing and introduced myself over on the noob forum so I thought it was now reasonably acceptable to post and ask for some advice. I'm in the process of bobbing out the 125 and I've hit a bit of a snag. I've read on other topics the issues people have had mounting a rear mudguard to give it that close fitting look. It seems the only real way to go about it is to remove the rear bracket etc... and mount the new mudguard to the swing arm. Not a problem I'm happy with that. The only thing I'm struggling with is sourcing a universal mudguard that I can cut down. I'd originally had a look at this: http://www.feked.c…

Hi all. Been getting stuck into my bike the last few days and its been a blast. I've now hit a slight snag. Fitted l.e.d indicators.they are not flashing but staying light up constant. I've replaced the relay so that narrows that out as google is saying that a common fault. Everything was working ok until I chopped the wires of the front indicators. Replaced them tried it to make sure before I got the solder iron out but no more flashing. Anybody any ideas??

Time for some new boots... well 12K and an MOT adviser note says it is on the front anyway. Been looking around and trying to determine which are the best. My riding has changed these days and I spend most of my time on the motorway, 100 mile round trip for the commute and probably a good bit less than a 1/4 of that is not on the motorway. Mainly just ride one up and probably sit between 70 & 80 at the best of times. For the occasional 2 up, probably not going to go over 60. Anyhoo, the standard tyre dimensions are as follows: Front - 130/70-18 M/C 63H Rear - 170/70B16 M/C 75H If my investigative LMGTFU has been successful, then I would appear to have…

Hey,this is my 1st post so be gentle. Just bought myself a 2000 xvs650 dragstar as a project bike. I can't find a definate answer on the bar diameter. Is it 22 or 23 mm or 7/8 1" every shop seems to advertise in a different size. Also anybody know how much extra play there is with the wiring and cables. Seems to be a few spare inches of cable and was hoping to go up to a 12" ape hanger. I'm pretty handy at soldering wires so extending them isn't a problem but I'm not finding replacement cables easily. Thanks

Hey. Loving my new bike but now dealing with a few minor issues cosmetically. The distance between the rear wheel and fender is huge!! Seen lowering kits that will drop bike about an inch and a bit. However thanks to YouTube I've discovered this j bolt idea. Basically what it involves is drilling a hole through the frame and using the original bolt again. Anybody on here tried this?

Ok so I thought I'd post some pics of the latest modification on my draggie; thought I'd treat myself (and her) after the major operation of new stator and new reg/rec! Stock seat is ok but has no lower back support whatever, So obvious choice would be the mustang seat, but that is 1) stupidly expensive and 2) more suited looks wise to a classic than a custom - too plush. Undoubtedly comfy though... So after a bit of searching around I found the Profiler seat from Saddlemen, all the way from 'Murika. Ordered it from Motorcycle Superstore based in California, £210 delivered.

Riding home through Reading and down the A33 last night. Bike pulls up next to me, rider in head-to-toe Cruiserboy gear, just like in the brochure. Bike chugging away with custom pipes on. I smile and recall when I rode one of those Yamaha XVS650 Dragstar Custom... Red & Silver with Orange accents, 1999 paint scheme, which I recognise as I had one myself... Except for one confusing detail. Every inch of this thing is a Dragstar... Except the tank has HARLEY DAVIDSON in stylised writing painted on the side... WHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?????!!!!!

Hi Guys, I found original virago rec/reg units are pricey. New ones are hard to find. And they dont seem to last long operating properly. I have around four rectifiers with me now, charged for overcharging battery. Basically the rec/reg is a bridge rectifier that rectifies AC current from stator and sends the DC voltage to battery. Once the battery reached a maximum voltage (in viragoes around 14V) the built-in regulator circuit earths the excess voltage through the chasis. I dont know why the hell virago 125 rectifier has placed where there's no enough air flow to cool it down, just a heatsink with fins that do not seem to dissipate heat adequately. The si…

Strange title for a couple of questions I have. One kind of serious and one for a bit of trivia... 1. So what do you guys wear in the summer when riding. I've got some kevlar lined jeans which while the kevlar lining makes them a bit warm in this (current) weather I can live with that, but what tips do you have for jackets? I see guys riding around in just shits and even t-shirts today but I have a bit more self preservation than that should the worst happen. Am I destined to always end a ride with a soaking t-shirt under my jacket or is there another way? 2. Why do bikes always have the kick stand on the left hand side? Well all the bikes I've seen do? Is…

Hi just wondering if anyone has experienced their xvs 650 jumping 5th to 4th... thinking this happens when gears are cold or I may not be engaging properly. Just bought it from dealer a couple of months ago. Thanks!

I've had my Bolt a while now, and have decided i would prefer floorboards to the standard fit pegs. I have been looking into this, and have found a few articles on converting from floorboards to pegs, but, nothing about fitting boards instead of pegs. Can it be done?? are there boards out there that will just bolt on to the standard peg mount? Any advice on this would be really useful. Thanks Si
